you need to build up most of the settlements in survival to be able to travel comfortably. some settlements you can ignore are murkwater and spectical island
Yup. Ive got about 20 settlers from different settlements starving qnd dying while my 12 settlers at my castle are the fattest dummys in the commonwealth.
Liam Home if you build up to the fire escape you can pretty much Spiderman on the roof tops for blocks in any direction. Just use the rug glitch to place a container or chair at the highest build point, so you can jump the last few feet
Surprised the Castle didn't make this list. It's my main base in Survival. Comes pre-wired, has an industrial water purifier to start, and it's centrally located especially if you take a rank of Aquaboy.
I'm loving Graygarden in my early game survival, it was a bitch to unlock, a bunch of super mutants and mirelurks, including 2 legendary mirelurks in the unlock mission... totally worth it though!
Doge akin I was actually building Vault 88 until 2 hours into not saving I jumped from scaffolding and killed myself. thaaaat's enough fallout for tonight.
Starlight Drive-In is undoubtedly my favourite settlement. I'm not 100% sure why but it is. Took me forever to realize I could remove those damn barrels first time I played it but glad i still did. Now I don't have to wear a Hazmat suit every time I go there! XD
If it helps. I just found out about that while watching this video. No, I have several hundred hours in game. If I hadnt actually watched it happen, I would still be ignorant.
starlight drive in is my massive arena I killed everyone in the slog because one looked at me funny than I realized they were gouls Somerville place I turned into a shitty broken down shack and banished mcready to it for hitting on piper Jamaica plains I thought I would get that big mansion like building and when I got the shitty little block I gave up on it and lost it so I guess hangman alley it is
I like all the settlements along Diamond Road. Starts in Sanctuary, then Red Rocket, then Starlight Drive-in (big and important first step), then along the railroad we go through Graygarden and Oberland Station, from those we then step into Handman's Alley (second big step). From there it's easy to follow railroad on to get to Diamond City, or Castle later on. All of these settlements should be in shape to accomodate for your travelling needs, but two big ones should have workshops as those will be frequented as one goes around starter and then DC area. Slog, Summerplace and Jamaica are good rest stops for other areas tho.
Totally agree on Hangman's Alley. I never really cared about it in my normal playthrough, but once I've got access to it on survival difficulty I started to see how useful it actually is. Currently my main base of operation.
If you are looking to go for just ONE settlement in survival then Hangman's & Oberland are hands down the best with Egret Tours Marina & Home Plate being options for more experienced players of certain play styles.
i tried but they kept failing, 50 rocket turrets, everyone using laser rifles...cant defend against some raiders with pipe rifles :|, double the annoyance if you have to run back from far harbour
My criteria for a good settlement for Survival is primarily a location as a home base to return to regularly, as well as what is in the vicinity. Any settlement with a bed and a water pump, is good enough for quick stop-offs to dump junk and other loot that can be accessible via Supply Lines, so location and ease of access and acquisition is what matters. My choices would be Star Light Drive-in for the North West. County Crossing (or possibly Finch Farms) for the North East, Jamaica Plains for the south. Egret Tours is a close second for the south if wanting to spend time in the Southwest (and a far better choice than Somerville Place), though I've never been there in my playthroughs. Hangman's Alley (I agree as the best settlement for Survival) as a Central spot since it's close to Diamond City, as well as Cambridge if working with the Brotherhood prior to the Prydwen showing up. I considered operating from Starlight Drive-in while working with the Brotherhood of Steel, but it's a little too far away from the Police Station than i found desirable. Oberland Station is likewise not too far from the Police Station as an alternative west-side settlement location, and a reasonable launching spot to the South-west. Bunker Hill would probably be an honorable mention as a central settlement given the merchants that show up when you finally unlock it, but that's more late game. Starlight Drive-in, Hangman's Alley and Jamaica Plains only require you to clear out the enemies in the area which makes them easy to acquire. With Hangman's Alley you need to think vertically if you want to maximize it.
For Hangman's Alley, there's a little section past the one taller guard post, which you can actually build in; I usually use this section for farming. I like to place a few wood floors on the overhang above the weapon station that's already there, and build that into sleeping quarters for my settlers.
I fell in love with hangman's alley on my survival playthrough. Even without fertilizer squares, you can still build vertically and leave the dirt underneath for enough mutfruit to feed a couple dozen settlers. Plus the institute is a two minute walk away once they can teleport you back. Just stick a bathtub long ways in the back door so only you can get in and out and, bam.
Everyone's talking about how op there settlements are and how they use them I'm lvl 33 still use sanctuary and re rocket and the food water and happiness are almost all 0
Kane Riseley Hey I'm level 192 and I still use Sanctuary, it's a great place. Because I pretty much have all (useful) items in the game I mainly focus on settlement building if I play Fallout 4 now, and Sanctuary is one of the best for building a nice place.
william driscoll-geeves increases happiness which increases production of both resources and caps Keeping them happy increases production, which makes you more money food or water Due to ease of keeping settlers happy there is no reason not to Barring robots, they're pretty much always at 50% (their cap)
Later on in the game, after the Battle of Bunker Hill quest and doing some quests for the residents, Bunker's Hill makes an excellent centrally located settlement for survival mode, and is my favorite. It already has a clinic, and a couple of other vendors and you can build on top of the roof of the main building if you want to expand.
Tip. Take the Castle later in the game. The number of extra Minutemen you get, who don't count against your settlement total, is based on the number of settlements you already have. Of course, if you aren't working with the MM it doesn't matter.
Vault 88 is awesome because one of the access points is relatively close to hangman's alley and it has a beastly water purifier. You will never run out and can sell the surplus for mountains of caps.
I have survival base at county crossing. I think it is one of the best survival settlements. Here are some reasons why i choose it. 1. Prydwen is near 2. Railroad is near 3. Whit aqua boy perk you can swim pretty fast to castle 4. Bunker hill is near for shopping 5. It is pretty large 6. downtown boston is not too far away 7. you will be visited by caravan doctor 8. Lots of crops (I hope you understand what i said. My english might be pretty potato)
Hangman's Alley is pretty much an essential in survivor mode in my opinion. With all that running it's arguably the most central point to many quest-lines. It's easy to get early on in survival as well. (level 7 or 8).
My favorite settlements in Fallout 4 are Sanctuary Hills (Wide areas friendly for farming, collecting water, building structures, crafting, trading, living), Jamaica Plain (because of the items you can acquire nearby), Starlight Drive-In (Wide area good for building and crafting, living, trading, the pond in the middle is a good source of water, but there is little area for farming crops), The Slog (terrain is good enough for building but it's not the best, crafting, great for farming crops and collecting water, the building makes for great living quarters), and the Castle (Wide open areas inside and outside of the castle, great for building structures, crafting, living, trading, lots of land to use for farming crops and collecting water). Edit: I put the Red Rocket next to Sanctuary Hills as an honorable mention for me, because you get it all to yourself, but I have never built anything there.
I really like Hangman's Alley and the Red Rocket settlements in the vanilla game. One of the locations on the worst settlements video, maybe Outpost Zimonja? The one with the permanent set of stairs, I've got that one set up pretty well too. But I have my flagship settlement built up at Dalton Farm on the island. I've essentially abandoned Sanctuary, I just don't like the feel of that place. I like the idea of the Slog and Jamaica Plain, but I haven't built them up in a way that I'm happy with yet. Right now I'm just fed up with the settlement attacks. I gave everyone damage modified L85s (a-la Zanzibar Land soldiers pre-1998), and set up some wicked skookum defenses, and they have the nerve to call me in for help with a couple of bloatflies. "ayo, general, yeah you, the guy who built this settlement from scratch, seized power of the institute, blew up the prydwen, blew up the children of atom, and who is busy fighting a deathclaw with a pipe wrench right now, yeah, there are a couple of drug addicts across town and we're scared of that kind of shit, you need to take time out of your day to kill them for us, also, don't expect any caps in return for it"
County Crossing gets my nod. Best location for Aquaboy swimmers. Next to Boston, Goodneighbor. Huge benefit is that nearby Bunker Hill is the only location with a 24 hr doctor. Not to mention the traveling Doctor visits it. Decently sized for builders. Early game, it’s Oberland. Good location. And if you go to ten pines and trigger their quest to become a settlement, then, when Garvey assigns the first step quest, it’s Oberland. So you can get started on making your presence felt in downtown Boston pretty early.
I've set up my headquarters at Traffington Boathouse early on. I think it is the ideal operational base: It is right in the center of the northern half and you have a doctor and trader nearby in Covenant when you are still a low level character. Lots of opportunity to loot and gain XP by killing enemies in the surrounding area. Because of its central position you can easily spread out your network to Finch Farm, Country Crossing, Greentop Nursery, Starlight Drive-In and maybe Covenant if you choose to, which are all very close by. You can also make tons of caps by placing some industrial water purifiers and sell the water to your traders at Traffington and your nearby settlements.
The issue with The Slog isn’t just the close proximity to Saugus Ironworks, it’s moreso that all of the provisioners walk RIGHT through it on their routes, & that literally drags the entire settlement into the fight just bc one trader walking through it got attacked. The good thing about that though, is that they do help keep the place raider free with respawns, which will help with radiant quests when you have to go back there for something.
@@dangerous8333 It's not that I can't comprehend simple English. I just think that The Slog should have been #2 due to certain size to build while Jamaica Plains would be a bit more difficult due to the constant Ghouls respawning if you don't have enough metal for turrets.
There are many of components to prepping. One plan I found which succeeds in merging these is the Marla survive system (google it if you're interested) definately the no.1 survival resource that I've seen. Check out the super free video.
Taffington Boathouse has always been my go to. Hardly gets attacked, had an already made house to build around, and most of all its pretty much in the middle of the map. Overall most convenient base for survival in my opinion
So, Hangman's Ally is also right next to the river which can be used to quickly, and safely get to a lot of important places all over the common wealth being what I like to call the water highway which functions extremely well for travel provided you have the aqua boy/aqua girl perk.
At Jamaica plains if you go up to the church from the side building and without opening the front door you could pretty much kill a lot of gouls without them getting you o always do it and it's pretty fun specially with the old faithful that has a lot of range like 265 range to kill them pretty cool
Good list, I'd only change starlight to greygarden since it's a little more south and closer to cambridge. Plus, building on the overpass makes for a nice view.
Nice video! Although I do have to say that with the release of Far Harbor Coastal Cottage should have also been mentioned as well as Longfellow's Cabin. On the other hand depending on the Nuka World DLC and future DLCs, I would expect other settlements along the border would also be needed such as Outpost Zimonja, Sanctuary, Sunshine Tidings Co-op and Murkwater Construction Site.
there's actually a glitch involving Hangman's Alley, where Settlers will only stay in 1/2 of the area and not go to the other half at all, meaning that the other half of the Settlement cannot be used for anything beyond placing defenses at the chokepoints. For more information on that just check out Oxhorn's video on Hangman's Alley.
the problem with many of these settlements is that they are far away and in dangerous territory certainly at the start of the game also, there are few crafting benchs early game I used hangman's ally (it seems to me the most central location) but also Graygarden or oberland Looks good to me I needed a settlement for Water and farming and use the crafting benchs in diamond city to upgrade stuff Also you can store stuff in this crafting benchs
I have Sunset Drive in as my main and right now have followed the track south and made a base at Oberland Station And the Egress docks where you find a lady who thinks she is a synth. These two along the tracks are outposts with 1 farmer and about 3 guards each. Can also craft everything at my main and outposts. Also use Jamaica Plain as a rest point where i can work on my power armour and make food if I currently have the materials. Going to expand east from my main soon.
you can really turn star light drive in to an actually town with able to support more than 4 people Actually impressed because at first it felt so linear and small when yet you can get to scrapping and then building multiple houses and place the usual where it can make sense to you.... it is a decent town settlement in my humble opinion.
Sanctuary, The Castle, Starlight Drive-In, Spectacle Island, and.....well...hell just about any settlement that you can build multiple water purifiers in is a good one.
Connor Does Things I actually made Jamaica Plain into a great settlement. It forced me to get creative, and utilize the small space. I made the grassy area into a marketplace, and made some small cabins thanks to my mods. It's great for making a poor community.
Every settlement is the best and non is the worst you just need to build on that settlement like a defensive turrets or houses for the people like slog just let that be a main food supply line but for me sanctuary is my farm and main base covered with defenses and a wall and the second headquarters of the minutemen complete with player home and armory and lounge with bar and residential homes also a market so basiclly I have a mini diamond city
Imagine my surprise when I'm watching this video and you name Hangman's alley as the #1 settlement! I am playing a game where my only settlement, outside sanctuary hills, is the Alley. I guess I must have good taste :)
I think sanctuary and red rocket are one of my two favourite settlements because red rocket can act as a guard settlement for sanctuary since its pretty much right next to it. Its also close to abernathy farm
I like the castle because its close to far harbor the atom cats spetical iland (settlement) and the sewage plant (settlement) as well as the rail road hq and if your in the rail road for some time you will be working with the institute for the mission under ground under cover meaning you can fast travel to the middle of the map making traveling to the opposite side of the map very easy meaning getting everywhere is easy The castle is the best settlement change my mind Not to mention you can easily re supply your main settlement for trading and selling without having to go to far since if you don't have a sertant mod you cant build everything you want and since the boundaries might make your settlement so crampt you have no more space to build meaning less water and food to sell
I would replace Jamaca plains with Vault 88. Vault 88 has multiple exit points, loads of mats, its protected from rad storms, there is a good water source and electricity build in and its in the center of the lower part of the map. I usually go in there through the manhole at milton's hospital.
Honestly, I just tend to focus primarily on Sanctuary and send all the possible settlers (Vault-Tec Rep, Sheffield, etc) to live there. Currently it's a thriving community.
#1 County Crossing, for survival mode. Swimming is incredible. Get the 25% swim faster mag. This settlement is on the shore, near the main water arteries. You can save yourself soooo much time swimming. So much. And in survival, you’ll appreciate saving travel time. Swimming is also safe. So take a dip, and get to a bed to sleep in, no surprises. Seriously, folks. Aqua boy/girl is survival’s best perk bc every build is hugely improved with it. (Except 24/7 Power Armor users. Trust me, tho. Swimming is better than Power Armor for survival).
vault 88 is the best settlement hands down, its stupidly huge, can be defended with three room sized turret areas, has two good exit point , has its own tileset with generators that dont require science, built in radio beacon, and all the concrete and nuclear material you would ever need
I love hang man alley. as I had to get creative with it an love the idea I did come up with used to full the building an hight of them an made everything link smorthy to be idea for sniping such fun thinking of anything attacking it
I find Hangman's Alley to be one of the worst settlements, mainly because Home Plate, Vault 81, and Oberland Station are in close proximity, making the settlement kinda useless. The area is small, and settlers have an issue with walking out the front entrance, around the settlement, and through the back door, which can cause enemies to follow them back to your settlement. Also, because the elevated wooden structure cannot be scrapped, it further reduces the usable area. In all of my character builds, I have never found the effort needed to build the settlement, worth it in the end. Oberland Station would be a better pick, because it gives the easiest access in all directions, being very close to the path you have to take to follow Dogmeat while hunting for Kellogg.
For fellow survival players if you don’t like the brotherhood then I suggest to do the fort strong quest to unlock vertibirds advance till you get the castle and after the institute is destroyed kill elder Maxson and leave then talk to Ronnie Shaw and he willl give you a quest after completing it come to Ronnie Shaw and talk to him he will say that they found some unused vertibird and yea vertibirds
I'm not into Survival mode, Very Hard is fine but I'd rather be able to fast travel. In Very Had, I find Nordhagen Beach useful. A building a whole lot of indusrial purifiers and putting a junk shop up. Then it's on a supply line so I can just deposit the junk shop inventory and it's where I need it.
Since the Slog is a ghoul refuge. I imported a lot of feral ghouls and now they guard and protect the non feral ghouls. These are charred feral ghouls and they can literally rip anything to shreds. Thing is tho is that the happiness is stuck at 60%.
If you choose hangman's ally, download the mod that removes that annoying wooden structure in the back and download the mod that opens up the area where the weapon workbench is.
I love using Warwick homestead as a main base and hangman's alley as a staging point cos I have the red wake mod and I use it to travel there from Warwick
In my opinion, Sommerville Place is really good for survival if you use power armor like T-60 and X-01. As you stated its very close to Vault 95, and thats where you'll find the most Aluminum to repair your armor.
Kingsport lighthouse? It is pretty hard to fight all the childern of atom but it has a pretty good place to build and defend. Since it is higher up than most of the land as well as letting you build on the light house.
Hey VinylicPuma, could you make a tutorial video on survival for some people like me who haven't progressed through fallout 4, (i.e. Newbie,) and would like to take a stab at survival mode in the future?
What about homeplate in diamond city? I know you gotta drop a decent chunk of caps for it but would it be arguable that it's worth it in the sense of never being raided by enemies?
I picked Hangmans to be my main base because its right in the middle of the map. However, settlers dont want to use the upper floor I built and theres no visiting medic / merchants.
OK, but what about the available crafting stations? You will need Local Leader 2 to make Starlight or Hangman's Alley viable settlements as they have nothing but a cooking station by default.
No love for covenant? It's the closest doctor and trade you get early game and you don't even have to do their quest to get them. Plus if you can pass a orange speech check on Jacob and then a yellow one on Manny the spare the doctor and kill Dan you can get the entire covenant quest done by killing just one man and then by speaking to Jacob Orden afterwards he will gladly let you use the workshop and BOOM suddenly you have a doctor and a merchant whom you didn't need local leader to acquire
I think hangmans alley is the best on survival it's close to many locations in the middle of the map I don't scrap or unlock the doors because it provides defends I make other entryways
anyone else work really hard on one settlement and just ignore all the others?
true that! XD only a rare few settlements will be taken care of. one I got far harbor I completely forgot about the main games' settlements.
you need to build up most of the settlements in survival to be able to travel comfortably. some settlements you can ignore are murkwater and spectical island
also the zeta radio station
Yup. Ive got about 20 settlers from different settlements starving qnd dying while my 12 settlers at my castle are the fattest dummys in the commonwealth.
andrew decker true I just spent 90 hrs on one settlement, hangman's alley,
The best settlement for survival in my opinion is hangmans alley, because it's so central
SAME
Yea
I'm sure a lot people agree with that, I used that one too
Also near bunker hill that is another great settlement
And the walls.
Hangman's Alley is even better once you unlock Institute fast travel: You spawn just across the river from it
cool
If you leave the back door locked, it only has one entrance, as well. This makes it one of the most defensible settlements, too.
the back door doesn't have an enemy spawn point
BuBelzelù&SatanicArts Canedio Records. then use the back door not the front door
Liam Home if you build up to the fire escape you can pretty much Spiderman on the roof tops for blocks in any direction. Just use the rug glitch to place a container or chair at the highest build point, so you can jump the last few feet
funny that 3 of the five are also listed as one the the eight worst settlements in your other video
hhaha yea
I thought the same 🤔🤔
Glazed same
yeah
True yes, also very belated but this is also for survival mode. I think the other video covered vanilla.
Surprised the Castle didn't make this list. It's my main base in Survival. Comes pre-wired, has an industrial water purifier to start, and it's centrally located especially if you take a rank of Aquaboy.
I just love how amazing aquaboy is to safely and quickly travel around half the map!
It's a great main settlement once you have access to vertibirds, or the teleporter. Before that - it's just too far from everything IMHO.
Aquaboy so good on survival. No rads and fast/safe travels.
I use Hangman's Alley as a recruiting post. Settlers arrive, I give them equipment, then send them where they might be useful.
I'm loving Graygarden in my early game survival, it was a bitch to unlock, a bunch of super mutants and mirelurks, including 2 legendary mirelurks in the unlock mission... totally worth it though!
It's a nice mission to get through to get a picket fences magazine. :)
Thryfte build stairs to the highway and live in the bus

The trick with Finch farm is build on top of the overpass. Same with graygarden.
They are natural bunkers for survival mode
starlight drive in is my massive arena
I killed everyone in the slog because one looked at me funny than I realized they were gouls
Somerville place I turned into a shitty broken down shack and banished mcready to it for hitting on piper
Jamaica plains I thought I would get that big mansion like building and when I got the shitty little block I gave up on it and lost it
so I guess hangman alley it is
Oh my god you are cruel, but that is funny.

Lmao... Immersion

yup, tho having to manually run over to em to defend them from a few flies they cant defend against gets absurd
In Survival I generally let the settlement defend itself unless I am literally 'around the corner'.
i tried but they kept failing, 50 rocket turrets, everyone using laser rifles...cant defend against some raiders with pipe rifles :|, double the annoyance if you have to run back from far harbour
Exactly.
Tip for red rocket make it into an apartment building and the garage into a bar

Top 5 best settlements
Number 5 the slog

Thanks for the advice. I was leaning for Hangman's Alley for the same reasons.
The issue with The Slog isn’t just the close proximity to Saugus Ironworks, it’s moreso that all of the provisioners walk RIGHT through it on their routes, & that literally drags the entire settlement into the fight just bc one trader walking through it got attacked. The good thing about that though, is that they do help keep the place raider free with respawns, which will help with radiant quests when you have to go back there for something.
is it just me or did he just flip flop on two settlement area like Jamaica Plains, and The Slog?
They both have major problems. But their location makes them great in survival mode.
It's you, and your inability to comprehend simple English.
@@dangerous8333 It's not that I can't comprehend simple English. I just think that The Slog should have been #2 due to certain size to build while Jamaica Plains would be a bit more difficult due to the constant Ghouls respawning if you don't have enough metal for turrets.
How the fuck are you gonna have some of the same settlements on both the best and worst settlements lists? 😑
Adam Bussell all settlements have strengths and weaknesses, so a settlement can be garbage in normal mode but a lifesaver in survival
survival vs vanilla? Duh...
There are many of components to prepping.
One plan I found which succeeds in merging these is the Marla survive system
(google it if you're interested) definately the no.1 survival resource that I've seen.
Check out the super free video.
Taffington Boathouse has always been my go to. Hardly gets attacked, had an already made house to build around, and most of all its pretty much in the middle of the map. Overall most convenient base for survival in my opinion
Fully agree! I use these settlements as my main bases when I play survival.
Who the hell would want to stay in Far harbor on a survival build.
@@dangerous8333 Why the hell wouldn't you want to?
there's actually a glitch involving Hangman's Alley, where Settlers will only stay in 1/2 of the area and not go to the other half at all, meaning that the other half of the Settlement cannot be used for anything beyond placing defenses at the chokepoints. For more information on that just check out Oxhorn's video on Hangman's Alley.
This guy has such a unique perspective, I disagree with him a lot but still enjoy hearing his take on things.
For me #1 is the castle
Starlight Drive-in is literally perfect.
the problem with many of these settlements is that they are far away and in dangerous territory certainly at the start of the game
also, there are few crafting benchs
early game I used hangman's ally (it seems to me the most central location) but also Graygarden or oberland Looks good to me
I needed a settlement for Water and farming and use the crafting benchs in diamond city to upgrade stuff
Also you can store stuff in this crafting benchs
I have Sunset Drive in as my main and right now have followed the track south and made a base at Oberland Station And the Egress docks where you find a lady who thinks she is a synth. These two along the tracks are outposts with 1 farmer and about 3 guards each. Can also craft everything at my main and outposts. Also use Jamaica Plain as a rest point where i can work on my power armour and make food if I currently have the materials. Going to expand east from my main soon.
you can really turn star light drive in to an actually town with able to support more than 4 people
Actually impressed because at first it felt so linear and small when yet you can get to scrapping and then building multiple houses and place the usual where it can make sense to you.... it is a decent town settlement in my humble opinion.
What the hell is an actually town?
This is a video I have been waiting for. Fuck yeah!
Sanctuary, The Castle, Starlight Drive-In, Spectacle Island, and.....well...hell just about any settlement that you can build multiple water purifiers in is a good one.
the iron workers being next to the slog has NOT been a plus in my experience
sure is fun to call in artillery attacks on them though.
Iron works has not attacked for the slog in either one of my 2 Playthroughs, and I am a high level in both and dedicated a good amount of time.
+akgp1975 now that you mention it, I want to try it.
johnston ramsey they attack mine by accident when they go for traders and one of the ghouls spot the fight
Didn't you say the slog was bad in the worst location
Zxxx123d Yeah, and Jamaica Plain!
Connor Does Things I actually made Jamaica Plain into a great settlement. It forced me to get creative, and utilize the small space. I made the grassy area into a marketplace, and made some small cabins thanks to my mods. It's great for making a poor community.
Another moron that can't read...
Great content as always.
That depends. If you used it on vanilla you're a dingleberry, if you used it on survival mode, you're a boss.
I think sanctuary and red rocket are one of my two favourite settlements because red rocket can act as a guard settlement for sanctuary since its pretty much right next to it. Its also close to abernathy farm
Yeah, this is a video about survival mode though.
I like the castle because its close to far harbor the atom cats spetical iland (settlement) and the sewage plant (settlement) as well as the rail road hq and if your in the rail road for some time you will be working with the institute for the mission under ground under cover meaning you can fast travel to the middle of the map making traveling to the opposite side of the map very easy meaning getting everywhere is easy
The castle is the best settlement change my mind
Not to mention you can easily re supply your main settlement for trading and selling without having to go to far since if you don't have a sertant mod you cant build everything you want and since the boundaries might make your settlement so crampt you have no more space to build meaning less water and food to sell
another thing that boosts starlight is the fact that you have a trader nearby, which you can use to get some early ressources and trade with water
Honestly between Starlight and Sunshine Tidings co-op both have been my go too for main settlements
The Slog and Jamaica Plain are both on the best and worst settlement list, but your reasons for both are fair. I shall allow it :)
vault 88 is the best settlement hands down, its stupidly huge, can be defended with three room sized turret areas, has two good exit point , has its own tileset with generators that dont require science, built in radio beacon, and all the concrete and nuclear material you would ever need
I love hang man alley. as I had to get creative with it an love the idea I did come up with used to full the building an hight of them an made everything link smorthy to be idea for sniping such fun thinking of anything attacking it
I liked starlight drive in cuz you can build a lot of stuff there
I find Hangman's Alley to be one of the worst settlements, mainly because Home Plate, Vault 81, and Oberland Station are in close proximity, making the settlement kinda useless.
If you choose hangman's ally, download the mod that removes that annoying wooden structure in the back and download the mod that opens up the area where the weapon workbench is.
true
I used that back part and put a sentry defense in front of it and closed it off
What mod is it?
Stackix Hangman's Ally- Remove Wooden Building. I'd also suggest Hangman's Ally interior apartments too.
Made hangman’s ally my main super base without seeing this video, pleased to see my location of choice was number 1 lol built it 3 stories high
You know what settlement is the best for survival (my opinion if you don’t liked it) The castle and sanctuary
Kingsport lighthouse? It is pretty hard to fight all the childern of atom but it has a pretty good place to build and defend. Since it is higher up than most of the land as well as letting you build on the light house.
The boathouse is my favorite so far on my survival play
1.Sanctuary Hills
2.Sunshine Tidings
3.Castle
4.Covenant
5.Abernathy Farm
My favorite is covenant because of the pre war houses, and its got a good quest
Has anyone ever told you that you and Oxhorn sound a lot alike?
Yeah I noticed that too
NO. He talks and sounds like a drunk. Oxhorn does not
I always thought that
John McCall right oxhorns my favorite TH-camr
They don't really
Hey VinylicPuma, could you make a tutorial video on survival for some people like me who haven't progressed through fallout 4, (i.e. Newbie,) and would like to take a stab at survival mode in the future?
Screw the settlements: what gun are you using in this video?
That's a radium rifle boi
i like your videos i am huge fan of fallout 4
What about homeplate in diamond city? I know you gotta drop a decent chunk of caps for it but would it be arguable that it's worth it in the sense of never being raided by enemies?
Sanctuary as startup base, begining of game. Hangman's alley, mid-game. Spectacle Island, late game.
I picked Hangmans to be my main base because its right in the middle of the map. However, settlers dont want to use the upper floor I built and theres no visiting medic / merchants.
Easy to make starlight look neater when building. Use foundations instead of just building shacks it floors.
OK, but what about the available crafting stations? You will need Local Leader 2 to make Starlight or Hangman's Alley viable settlements as they have nothing but a cooking station by default.
Hangman's Alley has a Weapons bench, too.
My favourite is finch farm because you can build onto the bridge simple buts it's cool
big fan! can you do top five returning bosses to bord3rlands
(Vinylic pls answer) will an NPC run towards a weapon rack when the settlement is attacked or will it take any guns/melee from the ground?
what was the item that gave you the legendary slow time effect VinylicPumaGaming?
4 survival characters. All live in Hangman's Alley. :D
use the wood floor stairs on concrete floors for desired effect
Lol the fact that he said the slog. I watched a video of him doing the worst settlements and one was the slog
