A very very needed thank you for making these videos. My wife's RR has had the "def fluid quality" warning after the 3rd time. First was taken to dealer for software update, then it came back a few months later. They had the car for like 8 weeks, replaced the entire exhaust system... about a year later it happened again. But of course this time its out of warranty and would cost thousands. I'm pretty technical but lacked the motivation to buy a bidirectional scan tool... until now. Armed with my new Autel and watching your videos, numerous forum posts, etc I removed the diesel injector, inspected. Ran a fluid prime, pattern test, and forced a regen. Drove around and the lowest I could get the soot was 1.5g/L. Which was odd. Again did the process. Ran a borescope down the hole to inspect the filter and its basically like new. Not a speck of black anywhere. So did the "replaced dpf filter" option, which reset all the values and we're back in business. No trouble codes anywhere. I even tossed a new battery in it for good measure. To your knowledge is there just a software "glitch" between what it thinks the DPF filter contains and whats actually there? I imagine theres a sensor downstream of the filter element that measures some exhaust level and when DEF is applied from injector it senses a change... but when theres no change, because theres no soot is that why my levels never got any lower? I tried diff rpms, etc. And clearly with the injector tests, prime, purge, etc it was working flawlessly. Its sad that they even had to spend the money/effort to replace the entire exhaust in the first place for what probably is a software issue the whole time. Unfortunately the diesel RR is kinda an oddball here in the states, especially in California with CARB whom is cracking down on diesel in general. Again thanks for all your informative videos. I'll be doing this again in 6 months when the warning shows up again.
Hi, you seem knowledable perhaps you can help? Do you know if the Autel tool you have is capable of relearning the MMT multimode transmisions on the Toyota Aygo and Citreon C1 cars. If so what model is it thanks? I asked him and he ignored me by giving a smart arse negative answer.
when doing the repair, please explain some basic functions of sensors and circuits. for example here you coul explain a bit about the map sensor, role function , defaults etc . be the top give enlightment and you will be rewarded. dont be like the other stupids who keep secrets for themselves.
I would say going back to her "friends" garage would be a bad idea as they fitted a intercooler for no reason and missed the split boost hose.
How that hose has been missed is beyond me 😮 Great work pal!! (26 yr in the trade)

My first video of the day, from my FAVOURITE and BEST MECHANIC of all time beside diagnostic Dan. You too are AWESOME 👌 👍👏👏💪💯 🎉🏆👑
✌❤☘
Thank you. I've not seen his videos yet. I must look 😀
Freelander 2 was the most reliable LR they ever built !
Lol, can you come and tell that to my Freelander?
She's sitting in the drive with a turbo underboost, leaking HP steering hose and a leaking AC
At least it isnt a K-SERIES. 😂
Is that the same as an LR2?
Test don’t guess that’s how it’s done good job
Must have changed the intercooler in the dark with sunglasses on.
Some upgrades happened in back of your van there Jimmy? 👀
Agreed ...
Are you now working from Luton... the background looks like the Amazon factory near the M1
Which scanner is that? 808?
What engine do these freelanders run
Turbo next
Common problem on them mine did the same new pipe sorted it ,how the hell did they miss that .
Specsavers appointment should be booked
I bet your temporary repair will be permanent until the DPF blocks again 😢
Hopefully not. Made it quite clear it needs fixing immediately
Those hoses are £30 max and can be replaced by your pal in the driveway.
She'd be insane to not get it done
What's the sealant you've used as a temporary repair?
