Love the videos. Bought the game recently and really enjoy it and wanted to see what other people have come up with in terms of party compositions and playstyles.
Some thoughts on Lancelot(this will be a long one, sorry).
To me, he seems ideal as a "run into the enemy group, kill/maim them, then push through to the backline", rather than focusing just on one enemy at a time. The reason being the potential synergy of multiple Inspire in the party and Assault+Icespikes.
It does require a Sage on your party(Isolde is best in my opinion due to Chill synergy, but anyone with Inspire will do). For optimal use, you will have to weave as many of your characters abilities with the cooldown reduction bonus from Inspire, depending on the situation.
But let us focus on good ol' Lance.
The Sage cast Bless on Lancelot. Let him charge someone in a big group, if possible. If that is not possible, skip the Ice spike step below until you can hit multiple targets.
Use Ice Spikes(with Chill) to kill/wound the group of enemies. After that, the Sage might use a few abilities(example, Isoldes Ice Lance) and then cast Inspire, giving Lancelot some AP and reduce his active cooldowns(Assault, and maybe Ice Spike if it has already been used).
This combination hits fairly hard. If he kills a target with any of this, his Melee Expertise passive lets him Strike an adjacent enemy for free(you want the extra damage and potential cooldown reduction on kill for Strike). If Strike causes a kill, it will decrease the cooldown of all your current abilities, including Assault(and with a 2 turn cooldown, is now potentially available again). You can help set this up, by weaving in a few attacks(spells, ranged attacks) from one of your other heroes to weakening enemies adjacent to him.
Now he can most likely use Assault again(still turn 1) and push through to the enemy back line, leaving behind a group of wounded, chilled enemies that is easy for your other heroes to reach and finish off. If not, Lance can simply use Inspire(to reduce cooldowns once more, including from allies). This becomes even easier/more broken with items that grants you AP on kill.
If he for some reason becomes "stuck" in an enemy group, he should be able to "tough it out" long enough for the rest of the team to break him free. After all, he has several skills that gives him unbreakable armor and resistances, more AP and shorter cooldowns, when surrounded and alone. If everything is chilled, they wont have that much AP to attack him with anyway.
Remember, Isolde(and anyone with Mastery of Ice, really) gets a damage bonus for each Chilled or Frozen enemy on the field, and also deals more damage directly to enemies that are either Frozen or Chilled. And she gets AP for every enemy that dies. Everything that Lancelot kills, fuel her power. The more AP the Sage has, the more likely they are to kill something themselves, which triggers the Mysticism passive(reduce current active cooldowns by 1, only once per turn), which means more Frozen enemies and more casts of Bless and Inspire, which leads to Lancelot getting more AP and more kills. Of course, this is over several turns, but it does go faster.
Everytime he kills, he has a good chance to reduce his own cooldowns further with free Strikes(if there is an adjacent enemy). If he starts a turn Outnumbered, all his cooldowns are reduced by 1. The more often he can cast Inspire, the more often the Sage can cast Inspire. And the more the other two heroes on the team will benefit as well.
He can definately also roll up a flank(taking out single enemies, as you describe), but to me it would be a waste of many of his "me vs the world" abilities, and something a Vanguard or Archer could do just fine.
Those are great points. I am probably going to revisit this game in the next few months and I will keep this in mind.
Damn, I was aiming to get Lancelot but I didn't know how much of a beast he was designed to be. Definitely glad I aimed Rightful on my first playthrough

Yeah i took bleed off too because it too situational. I narrowed it down to 2 weapon skills and area attack and a single attack. I also make sure they have a buff and or range attack. I ve noticed while playing that you can only do either single or area attack so having more than one melee skill is costly. I use power attack and cleave on my champions. I have not gotten Lance yet but a ranged and passive buff for the win. You are right on the sigils if they were 100 percent they would be worth it but as they are 2 or 3 points not worth it.
Doing a tyrant/old gods playthrough first, but videos are still super helpful. I haven't made it that far in yet, but I'm getting close to getting the Black Knight. So I'm excited about that. Hopefully Red Knight is comparable to Lancelot though, this Lancelot seems broken op! Makes me look forward to a Rightful playthrough in the future.
Hey please let me know how the Red Knight is. For my Righteous Christian playthrough we get multiple side quests dealing with the Red Knight and his minions are BRUTAL. Curious to see if as a party member he is a beast.
@@SlanderedGaming Still working on the getting enough tyranny for the Red Knight, (I think he is another Defender type), but got sweet 2h rune for the Black Knight, with decent damage and it teleports him to the nearest enemy within 8 tiles after killing an adjacent foe...can chain murder three guys with a sage boosting his AP. Also has a AOE leap Attack that does some nice damage, So I'm thinking that the morality characters are mirrored a bit. Us evil bastards just got our Lancelot a little sooner (the Black Knight). Loving the game and videos, keep 'em coming!
red knight is a defender with 3 way to knock you down, and a taunt ability, the mission to recuit him have you duel with him and those knock down are brutal, had to reload a few time to actually win with my lv11 Sir Modred, his mission is lv14 tho
What a great game; I am halfway through my first playthrough. Being a huge fan of Xcom, it amazes me that games in this genre have abandoned mod support. Mods would add so much to this game. Just for cosmetics alone. Considering I am only 50% through the game and the armor does not change in appearance, visual armor mods alone, would add greatly to this game, or being able to build your own class/ character.
I 100% agree. Mod's would make this game several times better.
@@SlanderedGaming So, I made a maxed out Sir Kay, with all AP Essences ( plus Double Damage) and got a Relic that transports on kill and a Teleport ring. Suffice it to say, it was fun at first but completely breaks the game ( by the end of a turn, I would be doing 300-400% weapon damage and one shotting everything). With just a little setup, he can solo clear a whole end game encounter. Then again, that is one of the cool things about RPGs, finding broken builds. BTW, I think Kay is the best champion , due to this gear setup, access to all the AOE abilities and Deathwsh ( the range on the teleport ring is also OP, compared to the other champions movement ablities). I hope there is DLC and a sequel, the combat system and A.I. are great.
Juggernaut effects the damage of Assault as well. You gain that accumulative damage for the distance he travels while using Assault. And man, not taking Inspire because you use Guinevere! With it, you double the AP to 4 for ALL party members, double the cooldowns by 2 to ALL party members, and can remove all status effects with 2 members.
Yeah I changed my thinking on this later on and definitely double up now. 😂
Do more videos about more champion, make sure you showcase how they look in game too , they don't have videos out there that showcase heroes at all
Yup I will do more with Champions this week.
Looks like my boy Balin is going to be replaced in the future, although I do have to say the 1 turn armor buffs that some units get are actually very useful on harder difficulties since enemies like to gang up on a single unit and you can have a full armored unit almost dead in a single turn when that happens. Don't suppose we could get a video on Boudica.

@@saruman_iii2586 I went over a year successfully dodging COVID so it sucks to get it from something I had to do for work. Plus I know some people have experienced long term affects so I was just really upset about the situation overall. At the end of the day it just is what it is.
@@SlanderedGaming i never got it, so I won't say anything about it, as i can't realy relate, like written above, but i know how it can affect work. My education as carpenter got shortened from 3 years to 2 minus many weeks, so at the end the exam (my english sucks a little bit probably) literally just becomes a formality

Man I really, really wish Lancelot didn't had that stupid negative trait of "righteous". I loose loyalty with him because of that as he is clashing with the tyrant morality of Lady Morgawse, and she is way to op to let go as well. The lighting queen ^_^.

@@SlanderedGaming I dont regret choosing her over Merlin one bit. I like her lighting way more than Merlin's fire. She's best sage in my opinion. Has the same AP stacking per kill passive as Guinevere but way more aoe dmg. She and lady Morgana with her ice abilities clear the battlefield pretty fast.
His morality and traits are a joke, given what he did in legend, If I had to guess the developers did it with a joke in mind.
Agreed. In some story versions Lancelot has more to do with Arthur's downfall than Mordred.
@@SlanderedGaming Mordred is more like oh look a perfect opportunity to start a uprising. Lancelot literary kicked started everything and Mordred didn't even have too do a thing.
