- Michelle Hoefener, a professional artist who's worked for Riot Games (developer of League of Legends) is accused of scamming with AI art/AI generated images by some of her clients. She is accused of tracing AI, painting over it, and sell it to her clients for hundreds of dollars. However, there is some speculation that this scammer is not actually Michelle at all.

Its actually so crazy that a professional artist would go against litearly everything being an artist stands for and just use ai for a quick buck (if it actually is her)

the only proof we are this is her its a recent pic of her cat an old pic of her and the fact this is her mail adress

sadly i think she is dead and the scamer is a related person to her, a friend or a family member is possible who make some money while destroying the reputation

So, uhm... just from looking at her Facebook page, you can tell that is not her cat.
And I can't see *any* updates on her after she left Riot. So unless someone can contact her family, we can safely assume that she might not be with us anymore, and this person is a scammer pretending to be her.

I clicked so fast when I saw sylus on the thumbnail.
How sad. I really admired Michelle since the early 2000s, sort of stopped keeping up after like 2014 or so, though. Her style and rendering seemed to change a bit, at least to a degree that I didn't like as much as her earlier works. Still she is a really talented artist. I'm really disappointed to see she'd possibly use AI. :(
Edit: If her account and identity really was compromised, I hope something can be done. The style of the alleged AI piece doesn't match hers at all, and she wasn't one to skimp on details of a character either, so it is really troubling.
Among all the things you pointed out with the art being AI, one of the bigest things for me was the inconsistant lighting, before the rendering with the wings and background. If the lighting was from the back, then both sides of the hat should have had rimlights in addition to all the other givaways. Also the colouring on the top of the long socks and the patterns were mismatching. The sketch lines were clearly visible through the rendering of the first colour image and the bat lighting and theme were REALLY out of place.
5:08 ive seen videos of someone render like this before… i later found that she traced and colourpicked from artists on Twitter
*I can still hear his voices from miles away!* he is the embodiment of peculiar emotions! ... and that's pretty shady of that artist, but I would rather not dress sylus. (*AI will never replace real artists*)..

I sometimes render one thing seperately, but it's usually just the face or a weapon and i add environmemtal shading later

Sometimes I will hop around parts of my art and do some certain spots but all of them stay at the same "phase" as I would call it.
If I did one part in some basic flat colors then I wouldn't move onto anything else until the entire character is COMPLETELY flat colored. From there you go onto whatever next step of the rendering you choose.
To do random parts in various stages of rendering is a good way to have mistakes crop up far more and you needing to erase entire parts to fix it more often. You can't really visualize how it all cohesively fits together when parts aren't planned in tandem to other parts.
Same. I've only ever started shading without doing everything in flat colours if it's grey (I always have a grey background so sometimes miss anything I'm colouring that's grey lol) but other than that I always do all my flat colours first. And background always comes before rim lighting.
I dont think she is her 😟 like why would she use ai when she's a professional artist and for a commission? Damn.. i hope she aint real for all of this, that's messed up

There is no 100% proof it's her but my update video tells me that she knows her account is being used this way and doesn't care or is doing it herself or someone she lives with is doing it.
The only thing that scares me... is the probability of the lollipop sticking in Sylus' beautiful hair 😰

In my opinion AI art is such a genius thing but for us artist its more like a curse like now a days anyone can type some words and get better images than a average artist..
And even edit the image a bit to make it better..

@fungzau well, in my update video I know she's basically living at the residence I found. So, either someone she knows or lives with is in control of the accounts, if not her directly.

I never contacted her employers. 4. She's bothering anyone covering the scam. Overall, she can keep trying to say some privacy concern as much as she wants but I think it's more funny than anything.
