Which team did you use to defeat Red, the living legend? I'm very interested to hear your story!
This was an amazing battle! I'm sure you will appreciate! It was truly amazing!
ps : The second picture from the actual thumbnail of Red is actually possible to do by just using 3d code from HGSS.
Just want to put that here.
First hey mixle
The team i used was:
-Thyplosion
-Fearow
-Tauros
-Espeon
-Lapras
-Electabuzz(Shiny)
I only remember some of my team but I remember my reaction was hilarious!😁 I had just got to the top of the mountain because I heard "something" was there...
Then I saw red and I was like "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU???"
Then I spoke to him he said"......."
I was like "it's ON!"....I got ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED!!😰
My Hg Team:
Typhlosion
Crobat
Ampharos
Quagsire
Heracross
Tyranitar
Typhlosion
Noctowl
Ampharos
Noctowl
Gengar
Gyarados
Note: I gave Sandstorm to Gengar using cheats, this was back in 2010. 😂
0:12 I love that foreshadowing when u talk to typloshion and it says typhlosion is sensing something, typhlosion knows the biggest battle lies ahead.
THIS is why i love the Johto pokemon games. Facing against the trainer who started it all is a surreal moment!
gold, silver and crystal were legit the best because it was two regions, 16 gym leaders. and the regular main character
Bruh, BW2 had 45 Gym Leaders (PWT) and 7 Champions.
And one trainer who is stronger than everything else.
@Marcos Perez hgss were same but a little better than gsc
Wish Gamefreak made a Remastered version in 3ds
Red, sitting on top of a cold ass mountain peak just waiting for you. So badass.
It most probably that like the game try to say, he was training in the mountain since the gen 1 events. So your appereance is a surprise for him.

"You don't truly become champion until you know how to spam full restores"
-Lance Pokémon Golder
This can't be more true I just fought Lance and he used 4 full restores on Charizard in a row because I kept getting it in the red.
Doesn’t really help since you’ll just lose a turn I laugh every time they use em
You don't get to be champion of the pokemon league without knowing how to spam full restores - Lance, probably not a dragon master
I know that nowadays games are focused on fast-paced battles, but that health bar slowly decreasing made previous gens much more intense!
You watch as your pokemon slowly dying
@@adrysyazwan7917 or not getting that OHKO
Or watch your Pokémon struggle to stay in the fight for you, that health bar going down slowly always got me nervous
@@godzillaguy5467 same
Fun fact the HP bar speed in this game is actually a bug, it’s not intentional
I love the fact that Red's Venusaur Sweeped halfed of his team lol
OG Venusaur was rooting him so bad.
Didn’t have to be the case if he just used his starter against it to begin with.
...Or maybe Mixeli was just holding back.
and this is the reason why venosaur is the best plant starter and the best in kanto for me
@@harryshi5573 We don't know which was really his starter, could be Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise or Venusaur (Blastoise has the lowest chance rate)
I wonder how it felt to be a player who didn’t know what to expect when they found Red.
“Oh, hey. What are you doing here?”
“.......” *battle theme starts*
“Wait, WHAT?!”
Yea I'm pretty sure whoever found red assumed that he was there for a battle
Galaxy_Star_Maker probably more so in HG/SS, but in G/S/C, it wasn’t as obvious that he was looking for a battle. He was just standing in the middle of a seemingly irrelevant part of the cave.
@@evanhaskel206 i never played gen 1 before soulsilver i thought he was gifting me a pokemon cause i saw a bunch of kanto starters used little did i know i did the hardest battle yet
johanness guten if I didn’t have the guide for G/S/C, I probably would’ve made the same mistake.
I was like that back as a kid with the originals...I played Gen 2 first so I was like “who is this guy” being a fan of the anime back then I kinda lost my mind and went in a different direction when he lead off with a level 81 pikachu.
My man, Venusaur was putting in work! Red saved his most Powerful Pokemon last, MF even took down type disadvantages, talk about a legend.
Not red it's NPC

Best decision ever. my headcanon.
Epic battle ever!!!
That low health Typhlosion beating Charizard with its last hoorah Blast Burn was anime ASF.
Typhlosion was four levels lower than Charizard and won with a non-efficient move when it was low. Fking legend.

Back in the day, I never thought I would face such a very high-level team in the game (Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal). I was completely blown away the first time I faced him. But since then, he made want to train to the point I couldn't care less about how long it would take. This is what a living legend truly looks like : you don't defeat Red. You survive him.
The thing about red is that you're literally fighting your own reflection. And he never talks because the player never talks. He also dissappears if you beat him because if you lose you black out. It's obvious that when he disappeared, he rushed to a pokemon center...
You're literally fighting someone you were from the past...
never thought abt that bro
Red has been training up on Mt. Silver for many, many years. To train his wonderful Pokemon, he must use voice commands so they will listen. After training on a cold, dry mountain, Red soon lost his voice and was not able to speak.
Never thought of that. :o you just blew my mind.
Also this Red likely lived through a FR/LG version of the Pokemon Yellow events because he has the three main starters which you can get in that game, there's also one Snorlax in Kanto implying he caught the one you don't see blocking the other road and just made the other faint. Lapras from the Silph. Co dude and the Pikachu is from Viridian Forest.
Because the Pokemon he chose was Charizard.
Why?
Because he has a special attack focused Charizard and a Physical Attack one in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, one for each Charizardite, X and Y, implying he has two, one from Oak, the other he gets gifted by someone from the Kanto storyline events that happen in Yellow.
Following this logic, his starter was the Physical Charizard and he beats Brock with that one (in Kanto he learns Metal Claw so you don't get steamrolled by Brock if you don't bring the other two starters), but Pikachu probably was his second Pokemon ever and it works well as the team opener and companion Pokemon because it is compact, because it can go with him anywhere and if things get bad, he can just pull out the starters with countermoves, especially the Mega Charizard X.
Dude the raw energy I felt during this fight as a 9 year old was so fricking tight
You won that by the skin of your teeth. It’s a refreshing change of pace. I see so many Red battle videos were he’s demolished by a whole team of level 100’s usually consisting of all three starters and more pseudos or actual legendaries (Latias/Latios are popular) than you can shake a lot of sticks at.
I appreciate that you went through the effort to make both the player's team composition and the battle as cinematic as possible. Few seem to understand how key this is to making it look satisfying when uploading boss battle footage in its "purest" state to youtube.
Red uses full restores too?
YOU'VE BECOME THE VERY THING YOU SWORE TO DESTROY!

The only person you should aim to beat is your past self
Good to see people still play this gen
I like that they didn't put VS. transition on this rather they put a vague pokeball shape rocks, it really does show how serious and enigmatic this match is.

Pokémon is a very very easy game to begin with.
The team that got me through all 16 gyms and defeated Red was:
Typhlosion: Level 62
Item: Charcoal
-Rock Climb
-Blast Burn
-Flame Thrower
-Lava Plume
Ampharos: Level 63
Item: Magnet
-Thunder
-Signal Beam
-Power Gem
-Discharge
Mamoswine: Level 62
Item: NeverMeltIce
-Ice Shard
-Rock Slide
-Avalanche

Heracross: Level 62

-Shadow Claw
-Brick Break
-Close Combat
-Megahorn
Tentacruel: Level 62

Dragonite: Level 70

-Dragon Dance
-Fly
-Extreme Speed

Love seeing Ampharos on people’s teams :)
If the player choose Lyra as the avatar, the final trainer should have been Green, not Red.

I remember as a little kid playing through this game, and getting to this point. I heard the music drop and knew it was gonna be tough. So tough I never beat him and I lost the game since.
I defeated the Kanto gym leaders so quickly in the post game my Pokemon were like only in the level 60’s and Red sends out a level 88 pikachu, plus my team got thrashed every time I tried to beat the rematch teams of the Elite 4
Dang how nostalgic this really takes me back. I remember this battle was pretty tough. My Pokémon team consisted of my starter Pokémon Typhlosion, Pikachu, Skarmory, Aggron, Azelf, and my first ever Pokémon Grenny who is a Torterra which I ment to name Greenie but silly 7 year old me didn't know how to spell lol. I remember I really had a hard time with Snorlax but in the end my Pokémon pulled through and we beat Red :)
Wait how'd you have Aggron as he was a Gen 3 pokemon? Was he in the Gen 2 remakes
@@hwanniggles187 Haha I traded it from my Diamond version, I had two DS's so I just traded an Aron to my Soul Silver game. Since Aron was one of my favorite Pokémon cuz it was so cute!

Aight but the beginning of the battle music really iced me dude. Masterful stuff all around.
We all sweat, especially for Red. His challenging team makes up for the people who are prepared. Coming prepared won't make a difference.
I love how (I think) this is the only battle in the game that has the original Gold/Silver and Crystal battle animation of the Poké Ball

After at least ten years since I first got the game, I finally beat Red yesterday morning with my Feraligatr, Tyranitar, Entei, Raikou, Suicune and Lugia, all either level 71 or 72. It wasn't an easy battle, but I won anyway. I wanted to finish it off with my Feraligatr since Red's last Pokemon was a Charizard, but its Air Slash and Tyranitar's Sand Storm proved to be too much for my start Pokemon. Last year, I decided to beat my Pokemon Red, Sun and SoulSilver games after quitting on them for many years in honour of Ash Ketchum leaving the anime, and I finally beat them all. Maybe not 100% for any of them, but I beat my main goals for all of them. It was a long and sometimes stressful journey, but Ash would've wanted me to accomplish it.
Imagine Red's Team with perfect IV's and properly optimized EV's and with competitive items in each of his mons.

Typhlosion - Lava Plume, Flamethrower, Solarbeam, and Rock Climb.
Noctowl - Fly, Psychic, Air Slash, and Steel Wing.
Ampharos - Thunderbolt, Focus Blast, Signal Beam, and Light Screen.
Quagsire - Waterfall, Earthquake, Ice Beam, and Rain Dance.
Heracross - Brick Break, Close Combat, Rock Slide, and Megahorn.
Espeon - Psybeam, Shadow Ball, Reflect, and Psychic.
Honestly, this was the hardest battle I've ever done in any pokemon game ever. I think it took about 4 times as many healing items than my battle with cynthia when i was younger lmao
You know, if you interact with your pokemon in the same floor that Red its, he may indicate that his scared.
You: (asking to your Pokemon) What's wrong? What is he doing?

Red‘s Blastoise be like: Actually, let me remove the buff to my Blizzard‘s accuracy and proceed to miss all of my future Blizzards by using Rain Dance.
No, the Gyarados used Rain Dance here, not the Blastoise. Red's Blastoise does not even know Rain Dance in Generation IV, although he does in Generation II. He probably lost it here specifically so that it would not conflict with Blizzard what with the Hail in the overworld (Hail did not exist in Generation II; it was introduced in Generation III.) Venusaur also had Sunny Day in Generation II and likely lost it here for the same reason. The Blastoise did know Blizzard in Generation II, but the Snorlax did not, and he did not have a Lapras in Generation II; he had an Espeon.

Pokemon silver and pokemon soulsilver has a special place in my heart. This is the first game I played on any gameboy ever along with the fact that it had 16 pretty tough gyms, elite four and then red.Hell, I even got my ass kicked multiple times by my rival in the 2nd town encounter. I love how venasaur sweeped halfed of gold team .Yeah Venasaur is strong than the two kanto starter
In the gen 1 and 2 games that would make sense
But the gen 4 games are different, Bulbasaur might be a better starter because of its duel typing, but blastoise, charizard, and venasaur all have dual typing too, charizard being fire and flying, venasaur being poison and grass, and idk what typing blastoise is, but it doesnt matter cuz it might be good for the early and mid game but it ain't good for late game cuz it wont matter, personally you could just pick charmander and the storyline would be the exact same
And all of his pokemon are all under leveled for venasaur
Let us all just appreciate that Blastoise doesn't have Earthquake. That would have been the worst.
