    You guys are one of several channels I'm currently following, one apiece for different trails. I've enjoyed your channel the most of any of the ones I watch and appreciate you sharing your experiences. You are seeing parts of the country I will certainly never see and making awesome memories, even with the occasional nasty water or bad water stops along the way.

    I don’t know what adventure earned you the Masochist name, but hiking from Lyons, KS to Lamar, CO in early August certainly reinforces that it was appropriate! & fwiw, your content has always hit the mark in our house. I never thought I’d enjoy a vlog about a west Kansas hike, but there’s kind of a “fascination of the abomination” element to this… good luck! Keep pushing west!

    Did you notice how the "dirt" roads back east 40 miles were all white limestone and extremely dusty to what now appears to have sand over the limestone which controls the dust somewhat. You're moving into areas that have sand pits nearby and the townships start to use sand on the roads. Canton, McPherson, Lyons, Ellinwood, Great Bend etc. are all oil towns. You probably notice all the oil pumpers and tanks around. Had relatives at Great Bend but they all moved to either Wichita or Denver 50 years ago. Nothing for them there as their farms were small and pretty rough town.

  • @keithwiebe1787
    @keithwiebe1787 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Back east there were all corn fields and some bean fields. Now you're running into milo fields. The reason is because of less rainfall in that section of Kansas. At some point will run into more irrigation and back to corn.

    I live in kansas i call it a sand trap been living here about ten years. First year i got here i got a rare form of lymes disease in a wreck the second year lung tumors my third year skin cancer my fourth year stomach ulcers my fifth year from all the alcohol to deal with this place, now im disabled & bed ridden. It took me many miserable winters waiting for summer barbacues to finally get it through my head not to look forward to summer barbacues as summer brings a sheet ton of flys here and they eat more of the bbq than i did. This place sucks so bad its a sand trap, no money to make here in order to get out, somtimes i wonder if the only way im gonna leave is the way you guys are passing through, only other way may be a pine box

    Kansan here... damn you have a bad attitude. Kansas is one of the friendliest places in the US. The smoke is probably the burn-off of the Flint Hills. We burn it to keep it healthy. So in Kansas, unlike California, we start the fires.

    • @lukegordon7200
      @lukegordon7200 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Burning is done in the spring and they are well past the flint hills. There are fire in the front range of Colorado right now

    • @bubbajoe165
      @bubbajoe165 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Actually the smoke is from the massive forest fires burning in Canada right now and the wind blowing that smoke down towards Kansas and Colorado. Also as someone who has lived not only here in Kansas but also Colorado, Texas, and California; burning is not the only way to make things healthy. Last thing if you look into what causes most of the fires in California it actually is due to people starting them, just usually on accident. It is also alot easier to control a fire in the big open nothing that is Kansas instead of the thousands of acres of FORESTS that are in California plus all of the people and houses you have there compared to here.

    • @sdc4405
      @sdc4405 2 หลายเดือนก่อน
