@PeterSantenello I'm getting the notion that you're a bit hesitant to trust Randy to come up to the cave, are you afraid that he might kill you?

@32:19 Randy asked Peter if he wanted to go up the cave to which Peter said no, which indicates there some trust issue here, Randy also didn't drink any beer until Peter treated him at @35:16
Honestly, I would be apprehensive too. Being alone with two others in such a remote area can be unnerving, and sadly, these are the kinds of situations where people have gone missing.

Thanks, Peter!! As a fellow native who used to drink every day.. This video was a stark reminder of how tough that life was.. drinking everyday to "cure" the hangover was...well from what I could remember, not a way to live. The "spirits" get a hold of the native blood and it's hard to shake that beast. It took seeing my doppelganger in detox to snap out of it... it's never too late to stop drinking or drug use. The best time is now (unless you're on a bender with booze/benzos - seek medical attention). I get that it's hard to stop drinking on the rez when there's nothing to do.. I get that, but it can be done. Big props to all the native relatives (I'm not their tribe but am Navajo and respect all tribes)..

I was born and raised on this reservation, and I still visit my family there weekly. I can attest to the fact that life on the reservation is indeed hard. Drugs, alcohol, poverty and oppression have definitely taken a toll on my people. But there is also so much beauty that this video did not cover. The Rainbow Treatment Center has an amazing restaurant called Cafe Gozhóó, there is a people's farm called N'Dee Bikiye, so many beautiful Apache children, beautiful lakes and streams. Life on the reservation is definitely an anamoly that provides you with a unique understanding of what struggling truly is, as well as the acceptance of simplicity. ♡

As a pilot, firefighter, and paramedic, I have worked in emergency services on almost every reservation in Arizona. I have met and worked with Native Americans from many Tribes. The problems common to all reservations stem from the hopelessness, boredom and lack of control over their own destiny that befalls any people trapped in their circumstances. Look at the welfare system in our inner cities all over America...same problems...substance abuse, crime, unemployment, gangs, lack of education, no parental guidance. People just don't thrive unless they have opportunities to build civic and personal pride by having a say in their future and meaningful work to do. Living on sparse handouts from the government won't get them there. Unfortunately they are now so entrapped by this welfare socialist disorder that they don't know any other way. The rest of America can't help them because we are to busy trying to keep the government from turning the whole country into one big reservation, and like the Native Americans, we are losing.

It was interesting when Peter said to his Mom that he felt something very powerful and calming here and then she says it is where "she prays for everyone right here" three times a day. I have noticed this type of thing from others in other places. Very interesting that he said that about the whole place but it was when he was standing where she prayed daily. I meditate in one room of my home and I sage it often. When people come to my house and get to that room they say "why is this room so comforting?" I never tell them that I think it is from what I do here. I just smile to myself. My Grandson says that room is "Magical" and he is 4 and has no idea what I have done in that room and has never been here when others say it is comforting. I think Peter felt her blessings that she does for others. I loved that.

Peter and wife, I’ve been feeling really down about the people in the place I live. People used to be so delightful here. The way people behave has changed so much in the last four years. People are pushy and have lost their openness and lightness. Men call me profanities aggressively on the road. I used to love where I live so much. It feels so hopeless to me. America feels like we’re on such a bad trajectory. I’m mourning the loss of my dreams for how I thought we were going to evolve together. Your videos help me to feel that the US is a cool place. It's living history, these interviews he does --no special effects, no scripts, just the instrinsic magic of the human spirit. He approaches everyone with respect, and a sense of humor, and it goes a long way.
If you've watched three hours of this, then you've seen parts of America that even other Americans haven't seen, and probably never will. Most foreigners don't realize how huge this country really is! The citizens here don't even know all the unique pockets of culture that exist here.
Even if I went to the reservations, they wouldn't open their doors to me like this. Unless you already know someone there who could vouch for you, no one will talk to you. Through this show, Peter has garnered a good reputation, a well-earned one I might say. So, _they_ probably _call him_ and invite him over. He has earned the love and trust of the people.
Currently, I am staying in the heart of Los Angeles for a few days to attend a week-long event. I'm driving to a gym, and then suddenly all the signage is in Korean! I have lived in CA for decades, but have _never_ been to LA's Korea Town before! A store window had nothing but traditional Korean clothing displayed (hanbok, etc.). It's like I just dropped into another world this morning. haha This is an example of how one just stumbles upon unique pockets of culture in America. 😅

My son has Apache blood, his Great Gma was Native from Arizona, married to a Yaqui from Sonora Mexico. So sad most tribes have a high rate of alcoholism. Blessing to the Apache Nation, and all Tribes in the US , the Real Owners of this Country.

This is the Peter Santenello style I fell in love with some years ago! This is raw, talented journalism, amazing editing and storytelling, and most of all, taking risks in conflict areas to tell a powerful story. Keep up the amazing work, Peter! 👏👏👏
I'm also sad to learn that Native American population in their motherland, the Continent of America before the European Colonizers arrived, was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland, the Continent of Europe was around 25 millions.
Today, Native American population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering TWO BILLION! I found it to be a shockingly sad truth. 😔🤷

      Anglo Western/Christian Europeans Colonization of,
      - North America & South America,
      - Siberia & Far-East Asia,
      - Australia & New Zealand in Asia-Pacific.
      Europe for Native Europeans,
      - Africa for Native Africans,
      - America for Native Americans,
      - Asia-Pacific for Native Asians-Pacific islanders. 🤷
The two most sacred Christian doctrines are,
      -Thou shalt not kill.
      - Thou shalt not steal. 🤷
The fact that there are over 40 nations/territories in Europe for the Christian Europeans to Colonize.
      Why Native-American land?
      Why Asia-Pacific land? 🤷

    • @SaltyCado
      @SaltyCado 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

It's not about trust because nobody here has anything to do with it. And majority of ethnicities faced atrocious things. We came here as a melting pot, some did more atrocious things and some fought against those things. You heard the guy about girounimo, his.people killed his family so he started killing them. There's bad apples on every tree and it's about weeding that out and recovering from these past traumas. And of course that's going to take the whole country to come together. We segregate too much and it doesn't help a thing. @@mojorising1

We don't need to do shit there's no such thing as finders keepers they were conquered why would the winners give the losers everything they have? Life isn't fair and no one deserves anything if you want something you have to pay the price as we did. Not skulk around waiting for someone to fix all your problems Mexicans are the same way.

I’m 46 years old and I’m from Paradise Valley,a suburb in Phoenix. My mom has a cabin not far from the casino and we stop at the gas station at the casino there every time we go up there. I love going up to the white mountains especially during the summer when it’s 110 degrees in Phoenix. It’s a beautiful, laid back spot. We use to go skiing every year when I was a kid in the 80’s. The area up there hasn’t changed much at all.

It should be heartbreaking to everyone..to see ..it's indoctrination just like rest of America..governments serve the DEVIL..there's GOD -JESUS CHRIST ,HOLYSPIRIT...AND THEN THE DEVIL AND HIS MANY..that deceived America and the world ..the governments have deceived lier and drugged oppressed ,the majority of society. Just as the Bible says..Jesus christ .h I s gospel truth should be told to them...not being proud ...we live in Fallen creation ..SIN is what causes this..everyone is quilty and without excuses..very sad to see these people drugged and deceived..I was deceived 42 years. Only Jesus christ can set man free ...there is only 2 options HELL OR HEAVEN...ONLY JESUS CHRIST...there are none good no not 1,,none...we are filthy wretched sinners..it's hard to see millions of deceived people...especially those bought sold out by American government...we are clearly in the BEGINNING OF THE END....the internet and or technology has only made it worse..no one works labor ..the country was built by trusting in GOD AND HARD PHYSICAL LABOR .not lies and technology..mixed with poison food seeds and drugs..the people in charge have no idea 💡..The most powerful AND ONLY GOD THEY WILL FACE ..it's appointed a man to die after that the judgement...Jesus christ will return and Everyone will bow in trembling fear...no meteors no aliens...the lord will return...people are beyond deceived with the lies of evolution, and spiritualism...all lies..that lead to the lake of 🔥...take a look around ..
