- For over 2 years, Arataki Itto was the premiere Geo character, sporting his trademark Mono Geo team as an alternative yet surprisingly viable team to delve into on the off chance players wanted to try something else. Age however has gotten the better of him, and the oni has failed to withstand the test of time. Today we'll be looking into Why NO ONE Plays: Itto.

I think the main issue a lot of people have with Itto is how much you have to invest into OTHER character for HIM to be good
Yeah. You need to have a C0 lvl 70 Gorou with lvl 8 skill for him. Very expensive unlike Ayaka teams.

Her kit got already leaked. And I don't think they have a good synergy.
It would be good if chiori was simply a geo healer, it would open up furina to help in itto teams
been an itto main since he came out and proud to say im one of the 12 geo enjoyers out there hes just so fun to play and max crushed his role as the va for him
1.0 player. Ningguang was my main until Itto came along. I loved dendro, though, and now play a Dendro team. I love geo and really want them to fix it. I hold out hope since Zhongli is the archon and Liyue clearly is China. One day.

I'm also one of the 12 geo enjoyers and have been maining Itto since day 1.
I use mono geo a lot in Abyss and will keep doing so (I haven't gotten Navia yet)

Itto's biggest problem isn't him, it's Gorou. If Itto got a new support that doesn't rely on Mono Geo to work, he would immediately go up a tier, maybe more. He's so close to being great, but that just isn't the case right now.
That said, I do think that similar to Xiao, the "Why No One Plays" title doesn't really fit him, since he's still quite the popular character. For the people that do have his team built up, he tends to be a popular choice even against the competition, due to not stealing supports and his ability to get through any content that isn't a Geo Slime. Bosses, two-target, multi-wave, he's good enough for anything, despite his issues.
A huge part of why Itto remains popular among the playerbase that you didn't mention is his amazing personality and voice work (at least in English, I can't comment on the other dubs). There's a reason he shows up in so many events, it's because people love the big guy. His fun dialogue and the 11/10 performance by Max Mittelman make him a joy to see on screen. He's the hilarious himbo big bro of the cast, and people love him for it, so they use him in spite of his issues.

Itto is awesome and Max's performance as a VA is definitely a big factor. When Itto came out he felt like a breath of fresh air. I like most of the Genshin cast but for a while I felt like we had too many overachievers, workaholic girls or otherwise "serious characters", and then Itto's dumb*ss came in like a Bull-Chucker in a china shop and it was such a nice change !
My Itto is triple crowned and I've never stopped playing him, he's too much fun and he's too good (as long as it's not geo slimes / specters lol). When people keep saying Geo has sucked for a while (rather i'd say we'd lacked new Geo characters till Navia) and here I am with Zhongli, Ningguang and Itto being some of my most played characters. Speaking of, I actually don't always use Gorou as support in my Itto parties (I don't super enjoy Gorou and his lack of versatility), but I always have Zhongli in there and often Ningguang who can not only buff Geo damage but dish out nice numbers herself without requiring much field time. Other supports like Yunjin can be swapped in too so it's not as rigid as people make it out to be.
I play Xiao a lot too for the same reason : I have fun playing him. :>
tldr : play characters because you like them or because they are fun, not because of whatever is meta.
it’s been grinding my gears forever that people act like xiao and itto are not in the exact same place rn. itto has never been a “why noone plays” character, he’s literally been most people’s entry into playing geo, he’s just been kicked out of the meta due to his “expensive” niche (which is always conveniently not compared to the myriad of other expensive teams in the game cough cough ayaka, xiao cough cough) and that by fault of his element’s lack of reactions, he can never take advantage of new meta styles that come with major patches.

He’s somewhat niche, and most of his damage comes from his burst.
You can basically make a list of characters who weren't buffed by Furina and that will be a large majority of the underperforming characters.

Itto can use furina easily if you have constellation 4+ on gorou even if its not perfect furina is still the best option cause she's broken

I leveled up Gorou for my Albedo. I couldn't bring myself to watch the Albedo video...
Having him can be fun but the fact that mono geo is essentially the only way you can get full value off of him is just too much to do. As an Itto main, he’s incredibly fun to play but without Gorou and your other geo units being there, he’s not as strong. That and having a domain that is specifically tailored for geo defense units makes it more of a hassle to invest into him and your other units for his team
Well you only really need Gorou and we get Geo Traveller for free. Husk is also in the strongbox now so passively farming the husk set is doable.
from reading chiori(upcoming character) she may actually help with ittos issues abit
Tbh there really needs to be a real savior of geo. People say navia saved the geo element but in reality she only saved herself from being another niche geo unit. We need a geo unit who can not only buff geo units but also works with the other elements. That would be a true savior of geo and our prayers lies on chiori where she will be a geo unit and save itto from being beaten up more by navia and noelle
To be fair she also managed to significantly boost the worst two geo units prior to her introduction while doing nothing to help the ones technically above them. Kinda amazing that the only two Geos she works with are Ningguang and Geo MC.
Honestly I know Itto’s not a top tier anymore, but I just love his playstyle so much. Will continue to be a mainstay of my abyss just because there aren’t many problems you can’t solve by bonking something really hard. Also, I agree that he needs a Faruzan-adjacent support, makes a great point there.

Correction, 10:56 mona is actually AMAZING on itto. I usually run him with gorou, mona and zhongli, and they work perfectly well. Itto causing shatter wouldn’t be a problem because it isnt a freeze team in the first place.
Yea, that seems to be an error on Vars' side. I think what he meant is that Mona isn't the best for him because Itto would pop the bubble before its duration ends, making the debuff shorter than it optimally would be. Typically, Mona would be run in a freeze team to prevent enemies from taking poise damage and popping the bubble prematurely, allowing the debuff to last the entire duration.
I came looking for this comment so I wouldn't have to make it myself. His take on Mona not being available for Itto is quite incorrect. Since I've switch Albedo for Mona my no longer mono-Geo is so much stronger! Currently I run Itto (4husk), Zhongli (2Petra+nobless), Gorou (4nobless) and Mona (4emblem). I can further upgrade and make my zhongli with 4 mililith, but I want him as a sub DPS, but one day I might explore mona with mililith.... Its just my most OP team, but yes, I invested a lot of time into it!

well, omen only lasts around 5 seconds and itto's ult duration is way higher than that so vars is correct that mona isn't that great on itto (or itto isn't great for mona). even if itto does more damage in that first 5 seconds, the latter half of the ult will deal much less. even if that turns out to be more dps somehow, itto isn't the right fit for mona. her kit would just work way better with a freeze team
@@nguyenbathong3983 Vars doesn’t claim to know everything about the game and has admitted that he does slip up sometimes, he’s not the all-knowing god of genshin but he is a guy that’s pretty good at what he does. Slipping up every so often doesn’t mean he doesn’t know anything, it just means he slipped up.
I knew this day would eventually come and I still don't think I'm mature enough to objectively view this video😢. I will never not be playing Itto.
itto and eula have essentially just been left behind in every meta-changing patch. they couldnt use dendro, nor any HP gimmicks, or play around with hydro reactions. it’s a shame how overlooked they are.

I have a funny story about my Itto: My account got hacked some time ago and bought by some Russian guy during Itto's second rerun. My account is not very interesting, but mono geo is my most invested team simply because it has some of my favorite characters. I did get my account back, but to my surprise, the guy had pulled for Itto's signature weapon! I understand Itto is a very investment heavy character, but funilly enough the Russian guy did some of the investment for me and now Itto is by far my strongest character 😂😂

Itto was the whole reason I came back to Genshin after dropping it before 1.1 My best friend showed me his leaks and from October 2021 until his release in 2.3, I powerfarmed for him and got him and even his Redhorn, without spending money. I built my gorou, Zhongli, and respec-ed my Bennett and Itto was the only reason I could 36 star the abyss now before Fontaine. I don't use him as much now because I have Neuvillette and Wriothesley and Furina, but I still use him and will always love everything about him.
Something I hope for in Natlan is that claymore DPS’s get the support they should have had for a while so Ara-Arataki and End User License Agreement finally get pulled out of the pit they’re stuck in
And Batman might make a comback
@serezelveydawn according to some "dreams" batman might make a comeback thanks to cloud retainer. But only time will tell.
I think Natlan would have things like elemental self-inflict like with Bennett's Elemental Burst. Like, a Cryo DPS that gains special effects via applying Cryo to himself.
@@neliaironwood7573as we’ve seen from Sumeru and Fontaine it doesn’t have to just be one or the other. Sumeru introduced Dendro and made that a new staple, but it also revitalized Xiao via the release of Faruzan. Fontaine has a done a lot to make hypercarry teams more relevant, but it’s also seemingly side-focused buffing subpar reactions (or at least making characters who can use them for something). Natlan could have lots of elemental self-app stuff and also side-grade claymore hypercarries too
Let's just pray that Chiori does something for him, or the element as a whole, since we know Hoyo wont rework it despite it being inherently flawed
Chiori’s kit:
- coordinated Geo attack for character on field when hitting enemies (similar to Albedo)
- buffs team dmg based on number of Crystallize reaction produced and number of Geo constructs

I don't like re-use characters in multiple teams because I like to use many gameplay so that didn't bother me to build a team for him. And I don't regret, he's very fun and really strong

I've had Itto and his signature weapon ever since his first banner, he still carried me with demolishing everything in spiral abyss until I quit the game a few months ago due to being burnt out and bored of the content. I do have him at c1, and he's a really powerful character against enemies that continuously come out. But the issue with him isn't just his team being mono Geo, it's also because you really need his signature weapon to deal massive amounts of damage. I also have Neuvillette with his signature weapon too, and his almost as powerful as my Itto team, by JUST himself and Venti. Both are good characters, but Itto NEEDS his signature weapon and team dedicated to him
Tbh I don't have his signature weapon but I still pull off tons of damage thanks to Serpent Spine.
Point still stands that he needs too much investment to make decent damage
As someone who rand serpent than got his signature he can perform well with serpent, but he hits much more consistent high numbers with his signature

Neuvillette needs a team dedicated to him just as much as Itto does. If you're referring to Neuvillette's solo sustain, I don' t think it's exactly "dedication" to put a sustain unit in a team. If you're referring to the fact that Neuvillette does an entire team's worth of damage by himself, then you are literally only talking about their damage. In fact, Neuvillette's supports are the ones that are really irreplaceable to maintain his damage. Kazuha Furina is a far larger boost than Gorou is for Itto, and Itto really doesn't have many other options for supports, limited to basically Bennett and Mona as a fourth slot in triple geo. Even in triple geo, his third slot can very easily be geo mc, who is used for their crit rate buff. I'd say that Itto teams actually have some of the easiest supports to build amongst hypercarry comps.@@Hasan-Firas
Itto was one of the reasons I started playing Genshin. His geo team was my dream team and I'm happy that I achieved it. Investing on him is kinda tough since you need to either get his signature weapon, build his supports and farm his niche BiS artifact set. More casual players will find that difficult and even most of the pro players will opt to use other characters who are easy to build and more versatile. However, fully investing on him (again including his supports such as a c6 Gorou) isn't that bad and is still rewarding as his team can still somewhat compete. The changes in abyss blessing, mobs and mechanics are what I think makes him fall off especially now that we have Furina and that it's difficult to slot her in his team. As a dedicated Itto main myself, I still find him enjoyable and I'm still gonna play him even if I get other dps chars.
I was long aware this video was coming. I'm sure it will be great as always. Thankfully, I'm at such point with my account that I can pull characters simply because I like them.
I pulled Itto in his last banner before Sumeru and built him up before I took a break to focus on school. Really sucks to hear that he's fallen off the meta but I still enjoy playing him.
Now that i think of it, yunjin was a missed chance to buff itto too, but she only buffs normal attacks, of course buffing charged attacks too would have opened a pandora box on it's time

@@cardescomedioses3674 ganyu, tignari, itto, hu tao, lyney, nuevillette are all dps that rely on charged atks to deal damage, and almost all of them are top tier strong asf already, making yunjin buff charged atk dmg wont change anything meta wise it would just make existing strong characters even stronger ( which isnt needed since theyre already at the top). id say if she buffs only charged attacks it would make other characters like yoimiya worse , while buffing both would be broken asf
The thing is Itto lacks broken supports. C6 Gorou is good but isn’t at the lvl of someone like C6 Faruzan.
geo was always the "yellow physical", navia just recently changed that a little bit, but i still think that they need to make a new geo reaction
I think Itto's main problem is that nothing can buff him: he has already got a dedicated support, a weapon and an artifact set, while he hasn't been buffed by characters like nahida and Furina. The only buff he can get is a better geo sub dps than Albedo but that would buff noelle and maybe Navia as well
A charged attack buffer would be a good thing for him. Plus other characters who need it like Ganyu. Maybe Keqing. Main problem there is now Neuvillette exists.
well you are right and wrong, he's still missing two teammates even if he receives another geo sub dps he would still be missing the 4th teamate. Itto is being held back by the sub par geo roster. DPS wise albedo is his optimal teamate and when you sit to think about it on itto teams albedo has no elemental burst(it is not used in optimal itto rotations) and no passives really. A geo charge attack buffer would be his ideal. Itto still has potential even though he has his weapon support and artifact set.
There can be someway to support him because his one team is zhongli or Bennett.
Zhongli he’s really just there to make the team mono geo but other than that he only provide a shield and geo shred. But that’s it and it doesn’t do much. Itto is a character who doesn’t need a shield he’s tank enough, the geo shred is easily negligible.
Bennett is self explanatory but he loses value on itto team having too much attack

@@amistake165 Itto likes having a shield just to activate the geo resonance, Zhongli fits but it could be any shielder or off-field DPS from an element that can be cristallized.
A support for charged attacks is one of the things I thought when I saw Xianyun's kit.
C6 Itto here. He is always first pick. Never gonna fail any content. Not even enemies that immune to Geo. Because his last team member never Albedo, but either Yelan / Ayaka / Furina
It's an absolute scam that you need 3 geo to get the full c6 gorou buff. Meanwhile Sara, Faru, and even Mika give their c6 buff out the box
That's not a scam, that's just his mechanics that involves him being played in a mono-geo. It's like saying Nilou is a scam cause her kit only works with only with hydro and dendro characters. Or Liney in mono-pyro.
@@Naestrith its a scam because a c6 shouldn't be that restricted. Also, not sure about Lyney, but vape js so busted than Nilou vape can still clear abyss even at c0. Not to mention her c1 making her even stronger
its so funny we’re even at this position since gorou was often considered the best niche four star, but now we see how much he’s limited the char he was made for it’s unfortunate.
Looking at the triangle of Noelle, Itto, and Gorou just highlights the bigger fundamental problem that Geo has, not counting Navia. Itto doesn't have to be locked behind mono geo, but the fact that the one who can lift him up (Gorou) is, inherently ties him down as well. Def scaling isn't inherently bad, but it can't reach the same heights that hp scaling characters can achieve without buffs due to the nature of the DEF stat and its abundance in the game, especially external buffs. Honestly very well written analysis.
In terms of popularity, Itto is still definitely up there when it comes to the more popular male cast, but it's really just hard to justify pulling for him as well with no guarantee you're even going to get gorou, and gorou is only the start to making Itto a worthwhile unit.
The funny thing about the pool image is that Eula doesn’t interfere with hyperbloom due to her low cryo application, and Furina buffing Mika buffs Eula as well, so in some senses, Eula has received more buffs than Itto.
Itto could heal the ennemies and i'd still use him over everyone else anyday of the week
His voice and character are just too good to pass because of ''mediocre damage''
And frankly his gameplay is so satisfying , being not too complicated not too simple, just soul touching pummel after pummel

he didn't literally mean why nobody plays "x" character, he just means why the majority of the players just don't like to play or pull for this or that character because there's someone better in general for any type of abyss and is much cheaper in investment that can yield similar or even better results than mono geo.

Honestly the baseline for what I sincerely hope Chiori brings is healing, if she heals, then not only does that significantly improve Navia’s gameplay, but it makes Itto a viable user of Furina, Furina would boost Itto’s numbers like crazy, she provides a load of damage bonus which, when Itto is paired with the Marechausse Hunter set, he needs a lot of
From there, Chiori can do anything positive and that’s just gravy, reduces enemies Geo RES? Amazing, replaces Zhongli entirely for Itto. Deals good Geo DMG? Great, now we have Albedo too. Boosts stats? Again, good, but even if she’s just a weaker Geo Baizhu we’re still getting a lot
I just hope they don’t make her a damage dealer, PLEASE don’t make her a damage dealer, Geo does not need a damage dealer and I don’t want to wait another year to get a Geo Support
I still use him in open world and abyss. He is a fricking tank and powerhouse and super fun to play imo

I’ll play devil’s advocate here: the reason why we won’t be getting good Geo Supports is exactly Itto, ironically. I’m sure HYV is aware of his strength, and is bloody terrified of giving him an actual team

Neuvillete is stronger than itto and he’s hydro the best element and so he’s broken and he’s not restricted. Ayaka with shenhe is a thing, a already top tier dps with the most broken niche character. There’s Hu Tao and yelan both are good and top tiers in their own way.

@@MrGoodra17Itto has one of the highest damage ceilings in the game, his ult charged attacks can hit for 100k and he’s as easy to build as Neuvillette
He’d be geo Neuvillette if geo had actually good units that aren’t limited or niche
@@MrGoodra17 yeah it’s become entirely fruitless to ever assign patterns to hoyo’s behaviour. everyone though a cryo catalyst would never come out cos they’d be too strong and permafreeze, despite ayaka essentially being a cryo catalyst. they thought a character who could synergise with eveeyone under certain conditions would never release, then cane furina. they thought a char with higher base damage than ayaka or hu tao would never come in terms of breaking the meta, then c0 neuvillette solo’d the abyss at lvl 70. itto with an amazing support would send him to INSANE heights, and i’d finallt stop seeing annoying noelle mains making every opportunity to shit on him under content she has nothing to do with.

@@junyaiwase oh yeah you're right, not too brain dead or easy. Enemies keep dying too quickly before I can get my energy back, so I have to plan ahead TT___TT such a pain. Ushi is doing too much he's really not helping
as an “i don’t care about meta” player, i am a geo enthusiast. my first ever 5* was albedo, my strongest character ever is itto, and i pull for every geo character without even blinking. i am a very casual and lazy player. i’ve been playing since the patch numbers started with “1” and i still haven’t completely cleared spiral abyss because i genuinely just don’t care about it😭 i love my geos!
edit: by the rare chance anyone sees this, i do have the ability to clear spiral abyss because I DO pull for more than just geos and i build them all, i’m just really lazy and prefer to just pretend like it doesn’t exist at all😭

a lot of the reason is also that geo as an element is terrible, and our current abyss really doesn't help at all. fontaine abyss cycles have been really focused on requiring a specific element, either hydro or pyro or electro, and geo is really bad at shredding either. the reason navia works is because she actively encourages you to not use other geos with her
I agree. Navia saved herself from Geo. She’s great because she wants team members that are Cryo/Electro/Pyro/Hydro. She’s great because of her kit, not because of her element. She actively encouraged avoiding Mono-Geo, and that’s exactly why she became powerful. Geo remains to be objectively the worst element in the game. Crystallize as the worst reaction in the game.

as a C6 R5 Itto main i agree with pretry much everything you said.
the main problem with my boy is how he's stuck on a mono geo team while having only ONE character that fits this category efficiently (Gorou).
in order for him to get back on his feet, hoyo would need to make mono geo a nieche of its own and release unities that are made to be mono geo, or that allows it to bypass it and give him acess to other unities (like imagine chiori being a crystalize booster that heals based on shards + geo buffer, yhat would give itto access to furina for example.
but hoyo clearly doesnt know what they want geo to be, it was a support element, then mono element, then support again, now "reaction" dps.
imo i wish they would have focused on making geo a mono element, an element that doesnt depend on reactions and is made to draw power on its own is unique in a game made of reactions, and if put into challenge, could even be a selling point for some abyss floors, like bosses that are immune to reactions and require sheer brute force while dealing huge amounts of damage.
Infusion Burst-centric characters are just so difficult to use because in the overworld, most enemies perish from a simple character rotation, so then by the time you get to said character, you can't use their Burst on anyone because they're dead, or you use it for a second and have to go through the whole shebang of building up their energy.
The majority of players don't play Spiral Abyss, which is where these characters, on paper, shine the best. But because Spiral Abyss is an optimatizaton check, if said character's and supporting team member's artifacts are not optimized to Burst off cooldown or be able to stay on field for their entire duration, they are literal dead weight.
I ran into these problems with Xiao because while he is strong, so many things have to go right for him to shine. Meanwhile for characters like Yelan, I can just press some E and some Q and she does exactly what she needs to do. This is also why off-field characters tend to be better than stictly on-field characters.
Raiden Shogun is an exception to this Infusion Burst-centric character because she can provide utility off field. She's not dead weight if she doesn't have her energy requirements off cooldown. Genshin's playstyle just does not favor on field these characters most of the time. They need to be more like Neuv, Al, Navia, and to a slightly lesser extent, Keqing and Ganyu where their Burst simply enhances their playstyle instead of being entirely revolved around it.
Edit: Heck, I'd even say most of these character's issues would be solved if their Burst acted more like Noelle's, and persisted even when switched off field Now, you may also mention Cyno, who is doing the best out of these Infusion Burst characters atm, but that has less to do with Cyno's traits and more of the fact that Nahida is arguably the best character in the game. He nearly requires two to three other (limited) 5 stars to shine, which is more against him than in favor for him.
I hope Chiori makes Itto better
It’s highly likely that if Chiori makes Itto better she’s gonna make other Geo units even better in comparison, the only thing she could do to not be hamstrung into mono-Geo is by enabling Geo to work with two more elements, but if that happens she’ll only continue to make Navia more powerful and leave Itto in the dust
I feel similarly to the things you said in this video. When Itto first came out, I had already pulled on the Eula rerun banner cause I liked her and valued physical when I was first starting out. But really had to think about Itto since he was mono Geo and the other 4 stars on the banner weren't good, so I decided to skip.
Here comes his rerun and now that I have more knowledge on the game I realized that while I love him and he's really powerful, I just wasnt willing to build a whole team just for him, especially since I didnt have Albedo or a built Gorou at the time. And now I have Navia, who pretty much sealed his fate for me lol. I literally have no reason to pull for him at this time even though he's the one and oni!

The fact that Noelle can out-preform Itto with such little investment compared to him is insane to me. They already did him so dirty with his in-game model, why do they have to continue doing my boy dirty T-T
not outdps her as in personal numbers, but even then she still beats him in team dps because of how she makes use furina. what itto needs as of now is another defense scaling center unit or just a better version of gorou.
My issue with Itto when he was released was: Why should i use him over Noelle? His damage it better for sure but Noelle just simply fills healer, shielder and carry in one package allowing you to fill the rest with only buffers which basically balances out Ittos damage if not outscale him. And now with Furina, she just out right outclass him in everything.
You're giving too much credit to noelle. Her healing is tied to doing attacks while shielded which doesn't even have 100% uptime. There's some cdr shenanigans but once the shield is broken (which it will if you don't dodge very well) the whole rotation gets spoiled. As for damage, furina brings her to be on par/ competitive with him but claiming she outright outclasses him in everything is flawed in every way imaginable.
I as a Noelle main fell into the hype of Itto and pulled for him. He's now my most regretful pull, I hated his play style and went back to using Noelle lmao

On top of that Noelle has a 2nd backup shield when someone goes low HP.

C6 Itto is still same thing but but C6 Itto with gorou does 20% more damage than C6 Noelle with Furina and gorou (C6 Itto wouldn't be able to take much of an advantage out of Furina)

i still loove my itto to pieces he still hits like a truck and can clear Abyss easily asa long as theres no elemental shields but my itto is only like this because he has his signature and C2 and a tonne of resin dumped into the husk domain for most players it just isnt worth it overall

I’ve been using a c0 itto on his release for every abyss and still managed to 36 star, went for his c1r1 on his second rerun and did abyss with much more ease.
Got a c0 furina and she just made itto Pop off a bit more with the little bits of healing you got, went for her c2 and eventually c3 and now Itto just feels like a overpowered godlike character swinging for over 100k
This is my time to shine as the last few itto user, bad time for the vid cause this was the first time in a long while where itto was actually viable for abyss with his main team (mono geo). Mind you, my itto is basically as good as you can get (c2 itto) without c6-ing him, and I still had to wait for like a year to use him again in abyss lol. But nonetheless, sad to see he is not that viable as his gameplay is still in my opinion the most fun braindead gameplay you can get in genshin.
Noelle carried me through the majority of early game content, and because I found her so much fun to play, I heavily invested into her, I pulled Albedo for Geo resonance, and later pulled Gorou and Yunjin to further buff her since the total damage output was a little bit better than my other favorite team, Double Geo + Double Electro, at the time. Itto coming out seemed like a significant improvement over Noelle, but it became clear very quickly that without C4 Gorou, the lack of good healing options is a big issue with Itto. (Zhongli would normally be a good alternative for this, but at the time, we had just seen the introduction of the Electro/Geo Wolves that sapped your HP through Zhong's shields.) Despite doing less damage overall, Noelle's jack-of-all-trades nature makes her immensely more comfortable to play, and her synergy with Furina makes her a no-brainer over Itto now...

I think you got the team thing wrong. Itto's mono geo team actually doesn't revolve around Itto. It revolves around Gorou, who perfectly buffs both Itto AND Albedo.
So Itto DOES have a team. He just happens to be one of Gorou's minions that can be fitted in. If anything, Gorou just needs a DEF-scaling sustain/sub DPS that can replace Zhongli (that is better than Xinyan). If anything, we need more DEF-scaling characters from other elements that can be Itto's fellow minions.
yeah so many non-geo players have shown themselves, including vars who probably uses abyss usage stats as his determining factor on this series. itto has always been good and HE is not the reason monogeo has to exist, gorou is. itto with literally any element would work perfectly, aa long as they had def-buffing or CA-buffing capabilities. in fact a geo healer is all he needs to get back over noelle dmg-wise, so he can exploit furina just like her.

It's funny, I have his weapon, Albedo, C6 Gorou, Zhongli... All of them built around Itto. He does 60k with each hit on burst, he does AMAZINGLY GOOD. Yet I don't use him... I hope he gets some resurgence so I can be motivated to use him again because I adore this goofy guy

Ittos kit was a shortsighted update to Noelle that attempted to update the generalist tank playstyle of Noelle into a main DPS. The issue being Noelle is arguably easier to invest in for long time players and thanks to Furina her damage is at least on par with Itto, making him already threatened in his role as the main Geo DPS and then Navia came in with a steel fucking chair.
@@putent9623 Wdym? You get Noelle for free and she was on a shitload of banners so if you're a long time player you most likely have a c4 or even a c6 Noelle. She also has Furina whos the best buffer in the game. Lastly Itto and Noelle have very simular playstyles as on field main DPS Geo claymores with a Q that infuses their attacks with Geo whom both scale on defence.
You should also include that in Furina team, you could be Noelle, Furina, Gorou and Jean. That means no need for 3rd Geo. Secondary, Furina unable you to run the Marecheussee Hunter set on Noelle. Gorou doesnt even need levels and Jeans needs only ER with optional VV (for Furina shred). Thats so offensive against Itto ;/

I find it hysterical though. People keep saying Itto is bad because he's "more expensive" (he NEEDS three 5 stars for his teams!!1!) even though Tao's best team and Ganyu's best team also have 3 5 stars. I guess geo characters must secretly have 100 pity or something. Heck, even in this very video, Neuvillette "needs" Furina and Jean, and Ayaka "needs" Kazuha and Shenhe to be at their ideal. Oh right, I forgot, geo characters secretly have 100 pity, so yeah Itto just costs more, yep.
And Itto's best team doesn't even include Albedo, people just like using him with Itto because Albedo works well in that case.
But now? Oh, Noelle competes with him if you have this ARCHON character! Ignore that you can also use Furina on Itto shh shhhhh shhhhhhhhhh sh sh shhhh he's not waifu shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Noelle totally competes with him now guys!
This current abyss (with geo slimes and geo specters) is the first one for a LONG time where Itto has been literally unusable on one half because of geo immunity. Geo is the most flexible element, almost nothing is immune or resistant to it, and it shreds every shield.
@@jadecoolness101 more so about how bad it is to pull for a c6 gorou and an albedo especially if you don't have albedos event weapon. they are basically used nowhere else so it just seems worthless to others. and using furina will make the whole team hp starved or lack energy.

I love itto, and Geo as a whole. i have c2 r1 itto and i plan on c6'ing him when he reruns. I will always be a itto player even tho i have navia i'm still using itto in spiral abyss.
why no one plays itto? you might as well ask why no one plays geo. and everyone knows thats because mhy left the whole element to rot. sure we have navia now but she, just like itto, relies on raw numbers. they just gave up on making geo do anything relevant ig

And Navia having high usage rate is just the FOTM effect. Just like a lot of characters who aren't supports or sub DPS, her usage rate will stabilize below 20% or less depending on how meta the new FOTM DPS is.

Itto showing up in the game was one of the best things to happen for me because he brought the Redhorn with him for me to give to my Noelle. I never end up getting him because I rolled for the Redhorn each time instead all for her. I built Gorou and Yun Jin for her and already had Albedo built up cause I've had him C2 since he first came out due to pure luck. Then Furina came out and gave her a gigantic boost in power. Then Navia came out and when I initially thought of making two different teams for her and Noelle, I came to realize the two actually did even better TOGETHER.
So I've got my Noelle with normals that already did damage on par with Itto's with only an R2 Redhorn teamed with Navia's busted as hell frontloaded shotgun powered by an R5 Serpent Spine with Furina and either Yelan, Bennet or another flex slot of choice there to enhance the team further while Noelle's healing keeps everyone alive and also giving Navia all the ammo she'll ever need while her long range normals hit everything on screen and her shield plows through all attacks as she freely swaps in and out for others to do their thing and then back in to keep attacking.
Everything dies so incredibly fast and hard that I legit don't have room for Itto until I'm done getting the Redhorn R5 for Noelle and decide to get him after with his own or something else like Reed Sea.
I have a c1 Itto because I was trying to go for Kuki and got him twice in 40 pulls with 0 pity and dispite that and building him really well I have never used him because I don't have Gorou and that is the glue to the team that makes it viable
I wouldn't say that, I think he works fine if you have Zhongli, I only used Itto with Zhongli and Albedo until I finally got myself to level up Gorou. Like sure I guess his effectiveness is reduced a bit but it's not that noticeable, it still works pretty well because of the Geo resonance shield

Chiori doesn’t heal, but she does buff Itto by boosting his damage A LOT in his new preferred team with Furina (you want someone who applies another element as Chiori boosts damage depending on how many shards she absorbs)
She’s a Geo buffer that doesn’t make Navia any better, so she’s perfect for THE Arataki Itto himself
When I joined Genshin last year, my first five star was Itto, then, 3 pulls later, it was Itto again.
I neglected him until AR 53 because of the world boss I would have to fight. When I finally built him, I felt the need to secure all of the mono geo core teammates. I’m waiting for Albedo’s rerun, but also for some new options to come out.
He’s been neglected for too long, and it’s about time that his potential was realized.
Noelle and Navia workings wonders with Furina with the 4th slot being free to further buff and considering how close itto and noelle kits are whatever feature character that buff itto they gonna be better off with noelle unless the new character is focused on boosting something noelle doesn't have like geo structures or some kind of buffer that requires a being in charged attack state for long time which is also useful for some weird neuvillette play style now that i think about it but itto's death is a sacrifice I'm willing to make for my noelle so just give me his weapon and let him play with the kids
I feel you are kinda underestimating ittos ceiling, it gets VERY high, but as you said, the effort needed is alot. Hea definitely been slightly powercrept by navia, but his damage is nothing to scoff at. Great video tho, cant wait for wnop dori and freminet

After overcoming that you've got a reliable character to bring to most spiral abyss, as he's literally the incarnation of unga bunga, he doesn't care about elemental shields or things like that. Itto is basically C6 Noelle with higher energy cost, no healing, no shield, lower burst uptime, and using more stamina
on charged attacks.
Maids are obviously more popular than Oni, regardless of gameplay.
5:27 funnily enough I have, so when itto came out I really didnt care much for his gameplay and way prefered noelle mostly for the swap out flexibility. So I sohewhow got a C6 gorou (honestly forgot how) and build him to support my C6 noelle mono geo, whenever content REALLY wanted geo I brought out that team (or floors 9-11 a few times for the lols) its worked fine

The main issue is that geo as an element is bad because it lacks reactions, and Navia hasn't fixed it, Navia only uses other elements to receive simple attack buffs and ignore reactions.
And let's remember another reason why almost no one plays Itto. He hasn't been in any banners in all of 2023. It's been over 400 days since the last Itto rerun banner, and the same for Gorou and Albedo. And they won't be coming in the next two months either, so who knows when. Eula suffered something similar in the past, but no four stars ever had this problem.
Many people never had the chance to wish for Itto, and others who did like me are waiting forever to get Gorou or Redhorn. Gorou is officially the rarest 4* in the game, impossible to get in events, impossible to get in the store, and over 400 days without banners. I have Itto and Albedo, but I can't play them because I don't have Redhorn or Gorou constellations, and I don't know when I'll have the chance to fix it.
Obviously people are getting fed up and the geo dudes banner will have terrible sales when it arrives. Old players are tired of waiting, and new players will know it's a bad choice.

What are you on about my guy? I clear abyss with Itto almost always. Do you have the character? Do you play him? Do you play any of these characters in: "Why NO ONE Plays"? What are you basing on all these arguments? Who are these "no one" ? You ? If you want to play Itto, you can. If you want to clear with him, you can. If you want high damage, you can. And no, there is no high investment. Feels like you are scraping on the bottom of the barrel at this point with these. As a f2p player I had no problem getting him and making a strong team.
Base on characters usage rate in abyss. This video point out the lacking part that the character itto have and may mihoyo take a note and improve the character. You don't need to be salty out of nowhere

She boosts geo damage muliplayer (in other words she is similar like shenhe), but will drain the defense of all the party when doing it (i guess because she is a clotier and she removes clothes or something). So she is made as anti-itto.

Well a bit of the charm of itto and mono geo teams is basically turtling up and such defence giving brute force, and that worked with many abyss in sumeru since studdenly they made them hit like a truck, so a dps who has high def and could fit any abyss floor was a handy wild card, but now they don't hit as hard, they take the hit harder, and on that climate a mono geo consitent brute force was better invested on fraile higher ceiling dps with lots of self healing, so unless the enemies hit back again, mono geo is off meta
The most annoying part is definitely the fact that Itto can only be realistically ran with mono/triple geo, which mostly always includes gorou/albedo/zhongli. I wish they released more geo 4 star supports or 5 star supports that don't SPECIFICALLY only work for itto, and have their own standing, but definitely can help buff Itto in the end. I don't have enough wishes as a f2p who also took a year long break, and I have to run itto with gorou, yun jin, and bennett.

Just going to mention that Xiao is now supposed to be getting a SECOND buffer in the form of Cloud Retainer (plunge atk buffer) next patch even though he just got Faruzan last year. Its upsetting as someone who used to main him but just couldnt anymore since I didnt have his proper team (which includes THREE 5 stars) and most of my other units surpassed him

Couldn't agree more with everything mentioned. As an Itto main, it is truly sad to have little to no characters to work with in Mono-geo. For the whole of 2023,the only character I pulled for was Furina, and she doesn't even work in with Itto efficiently. Unfortunately, not everyone can win and this fact is displayed even more so with Itto's design. Here's hoping for Itto to have the spotlight at least for awhile in the future.
I think, if Chiori is a support, that she has to integrate other elements into her kit, just like Navia, but with other perks than just increased attack, something like one of Hat Guy's passives that grants various bonuses depending on the swirled element
I am the 1% that still runs Itto for Spiral Abyss every reset he'll always be my boy but if another character comes around to give him even better support boy we are gonna be cooking!!!
I like mono-geo because you don't have to think much about your rotations, unlike some teams like Childe National, altho i also enjoy teams like that. I didn't mind putting so much time to invest on Itto's geo team, because...what else do we do in this game other than make improvements on everyone.I realized Itto's own numbers are that high to compensate for not being able to access buffs like VV...so with that in mind, i happily crowned Gorou's Skill because I wanna give Itto every bit of damage he can get.
I'm content with the current mono-geo team, but I do wish there's more support or even more Main Damage Dealer characters for Geo, so we eventually, hopefully, can have two (or more) mono-geo teams in the future :)
The one thing I can see that could make itto meta besides a new dedicated support, is a geo healer. That way it enables him to work with furina which gives him a substantial buff
