- One of the earliest five stars in the game, Childe/Tartaglia took a while to get going, spending most of version 1 as a niche carry pick. But ever since version 2 and especially into version 3 he experienced a major glowup, becoming one of the best units in the game for general clearing. In their 2.0 livestream, the devs said Childe is the most difficult character they've ever made. Being able to switch fighting styles on the fly has brought all kinds of coding issues, thus there was never another character that plays like him

@@Ethan-rj4xqRaiden is similar but since polarm and sword are both melee, childe's range and melee style is more difficult since u add in different autotarget functionalities. Plus unlike Raiden, childe's kit aso has Riptide which are all like little monsters, independent of each other depending on how u unleash it

I'm glad they didn't make another character like him because it makes him unique. but just because he was hard to make doesn't mean they can't make another one like him
Personally, I love that Childe starts getting recognition. He is the earliest example of Hoyo team going above and beyond on creating a character.
In early interview, one of the character designer/rigger said that he is the most complex character they created and to gave example, they goes into alot of detail on just how to make the man's scarf flows correctly in his skills.
Add that to having two burst etc, you will be surprised that he was not the fave child

@@blastzd oh maybe I should also had say that since early on, Childe had a really dissapointing banner and sell. Later being joked on as the "Archon of Rerun", Weird fighting style which also 'supported' with him releasing first without the Heart of Depth Set, and later Ayato 'powercreeping' him.
What I meant is that he faced alot of...shits. so I am happy that his perceptions is slowly going up

But I think you might be confusing some things, his delusion and his Foul Legacy Transformation are separate things. His Delusion comes from the Fatui, giving him Electro, and his armo comes from his training in the Abyss by Skirk.

In abyss Childe always sits in the top 15-25, with his usage rate being 30% on average. Most 5 star DPS characters had ups and down in their usage but childe remains consistent.
Additional fact, his international team is the most used team for most of abyss runs and never fell below 3rd position.
Hu Tao's average is 43%...

Hfor eg last abyss(4.0) her usage was 35% while childe's was 39.9%

Without a doubt childe is hoyo's favorite son (ayaka being fave daughter)
Hoyo treats childe the same way Kishimoto treats sasuke. They build a character that is integral to the main story, give him a backstory that makes him wanna get stronger, give him abilities that can rival the MC, win some huge battles, lose some major battles and get one-sided defeated by an opponent stronger than him. At the end of the struggle, they make a character that is beloved by many regardless of his reputation
Its been like 3 yrs and even w/ the release of neuvillette, he is still meta with his international comp. He is basically a character that hoyo took time and effort to a be a worth it character whether be F2P or whale
Even CN players call him the golden boy and ayaka being the diamond princess of hoyo.
Although people might disagree because its always the waifus, ya'll forget that hoyo does that to appease those players but they always have their favorites and would find time to put them in the spotlight multiple times

Just look at the amount of lore and character development they gave this little shit who must be protected at all costs. He might not exactly be a strong character in game and his flight is a bit clunky but they definitely did a great job fleshing his character out.
@@xer2578And you can tell Childe is also getting a similar treatment with Fontaine, with the whole primordial whale and abyss thing. Childe was one of the main in Liyue and would argue one of the main in Fontaine too. Especially since one of the main plot of 4.1 is trying to find Childe

"You always come crawling right back to him" is so true. He was my first limited 5*. I used him a lot, then switched to other characters. Then I have constantly came back to using him, and remembering how much fun he is gameplay and personality-wise.
So Childe embodies that one quote from Thanos in endgame

Even after pulling for every single 5-star hydro character I still kept coming back to him. It's like I've gotten so used to his playstyle that every other unit felt off to me lol.
Childe was my least preferred playstyle character (since he's kinda intimidating to play at first) but now that I've reluctantly done many abysses (a casual turn hardcore) , I love love love speedruning domains and abyss with him. Like I have so many teams to use, so many dps, tighnari, ayaka, Neuvillette, wanderer, keqing, hyper Raiden, kaeya, etc... i just come back to playing international and gasping everytime I finish the enemies in less than 10 seconds... he's truly one of the characters of all time
Edit: oh and I pulled him when polar star came out (started playing in 1.6) got him and polar star in like 50 pulls. Man really liked me ig (tho I pulled him for the scarf animation hahahah)

Childe was honestly the reason i started playing genshin. He was my 1st limited 5 star and even though i have other dps characters now like Ayato, Alhaitham, and Neuvillette, I always seem to stick to him as my main dps for my story team and one of my abyss team.
edit: tl; dr i finally got childe after 2 years and now have someone to use thundering pulse
ong same when i first started genshin childe was on banner but then i fell out of touch with it then when i got back into the game cyno was on banner and after him was childe who i also didnt get but i got yoimiya’s weapon when she was running with nahida and ive been playing since then falling in love with the characters and the story but this september genshin finally gifted me a childe after waiting for so long and it even gave me his husband not long after so now my thundering pulse finally has someone who can use its entire passive without being a physical dps

You should make a video on the state of Baizhu-- he's basically a Dendro Kokomi that can grant up to a 100% increase to Hyperbloom damage, yet he's still criminally underplayed
I use him on my Cyno hyperbloom and Kaveh Bloom, the damage difference before and after i use Baizhu burst is noticeable, i love baizhu and i will always use him

Fr I used a hyperbloom team with Ayato, EM Raiden, Nahida and Zhongli for this Abyss but couldn't clear. Then swapped Zhonli out for Baizhu and the team performed so much better it was insane.

I feel like the answer to these is inevitably:
1) Dendro happened
2) Hydro is OP

childes kit had a lot of nuance considering the time he came out in and his kit was pretty well suited for dendro compared to other year one 5 stars. He also got a new sig weapon later on and some of they new artifacts are also quite good on him .
Overall his kit is still somewhat unique and is great for driving reactions while dealing decent damage himself

@@colress9197 there is intergrassnational and he works well with Dori in a hyperbloom team but I never tried those teams so idk how well those work over others
just a quick little correction, the childe national team before kazuha wasn't as much "inefficient" as it was just cringe to play, the team was still one of the best but double swirling with sucrose was less reliable compared to kazuha, basically what i mean is kazuha didn't make the team, he just made it easier to play more than anything.

After my 2 years of genshin, I wished and got him on 4.0 banner because I saw his meta capabilities is improving even in the latest version. He is still worth the primogems despite other hydro dps.
I couldnt get him sadly loved his playstyle and everything else I got Neuvilette now and he seems so boring compared to Childe.

If we ignore every other newer dps character in the game, yes he sure is. If we take a sec comparing him to those, there is literaly no reason to pull him over them.
@@thegurlama7356 Yeah I recently got Childe over Neuvilette in 4.0 and I still have no regrets despite Neuv being clearly super strong. If I did have Neuvillette, I would use him with no healer - that would spice things up a little and make his teams really stronger. Units like Neuv and Hu Tao who have self-healing abilities can be really fun that way
If you can clear the abyss without him you should be good. Although in my case, I got him 2 days after I started playing. I even got polar star by accident. I benched him for so long and when I finally decided to use him, I got my first 36 star. My top 8% raiden can't compete with my top 75% childe.
Childe is literally one of my characters that just brute forces me to play him. First, I got him, then I got his c1 and when i just for memes pulled weapon banner with polar star right after getting c1, banner threw this bow in my face after 20 pulls. I'm rebuilding him with this nymph hydro set right now, and even with shit 2+2 artifacts he deals solid damage. And I love his personality, his appearence in main story always leaves an impression (and his own story left me crying, like literally)
Not many talked about his story quest. It was great. The whole theme was his dual responsibilities that run in conflict with each other.
I don't understand why people ignore that. Tartaglia is a family man, and head of an "evil" military.
You're not supposed to understand his actions, until you realize he's doing it for Tuecer. Then you see the whole picture and reason behind his unwillingness to be a Fatui Harbinger, and constant absence from his family.
He has to balance them out.
It's just insane that his team stayed a meta team since 1.1 and till now it's one of the best f2p teams out there and the second most used team in abyss
I really like how hoyo doesn't powercreep older units unlike many other gacha games ..I mean we all can finish this game with even ver 1.5 units

Even more, we can do it with just free characters. At least unless you count 36 starring Abyss as a part of finishing the game

Childe busted out of prison through a pipe and he's probably floating in the Primoridal Sea rn looking for a whale
Pop Tart, Yae, Nahida and Kuki helped me a lot through the early days of Sumeru.I've had him since his first banner, and while I've used him on and off again, dendro really helped raise his stocks if you ask me.

Childe Hyperbloom is like my favorite team comp. National is great too. I have picked up a copy or 2 of him on each rerun and finally got him C6 in 4.0. :D

childe mains are also some of the sweetest people i met in co-op.. most of them got super hyped when they realised i main dps barbara and it's just so oddly comforting

I have mained childe since 1.1, his design is fantastic, his gameplay reflects his personality. kind of like jhin and thresh from lol. every time you see a group of enemies i just want to rend them to shreads with riptide.
Not only he is a good character to play, albeit a bit tricky to learn- he also manages to stay relevant in the lore too, which i think also helps his popularity-
While there was basically a drought of content during the sumeru 3.x patch, we are having a resurgence with him being a somewhat prominent "hidden catalyst of events" in 4.x
Basically he is appealing not only to the players who focus on the gameplay, numbers and playability; but also to the ones who like to explore the world and its lore

By far the one of the most special characters, AoE coverage thanks to Riptide, 2 different burst nuke, stance mode that can be stop freely, the only passive that level up a talent by 1, his extremely unique like no other even as the bottom ranking harbinger he still a real game changer.
He was my first ever 5 star, so he has a special place in my heart. Him, Fischl and Sucrose carried me through the early to mid game in their backs lol I even got his C1 and signature eventually.
He was benched for almost a year, after I got Hutao, Shogun and other carries, but recently I'm using Childe National in almost every abyss cicle.
Can't wait to see more of him in Fontaine.
Childe was my first limited 5* and I still use International team pratically every abyss rotation. It's just too good at everything.

i've had childe since his first rerun and i've totally fallen in love with his versatility first and foremost, especially in the overworld. he's practically the only unit in the game that can work well in both close and long ranges. aside from international, he's worked for me in charge teams, hyperbloom teams, and even freeze teams (though that last one was definitely a stretch--i think it was for an event and i was getting desperate). with the way i have him built, he can even dish out a decent amount of physical and charged attack damage.
even though i have other insane units who can easily outscale his numbers, there's just no other character in this game who can do it ALL the way that childe can. people harp on his kit for being too complicated, but he's actually a really convenient all around damage dealer once you get used to him (tho i will say that my opinion is probably skewed--i have him at c2 lol)
he's not my first choice for everything, but he's still probably my most consistently used character. he fills in suprisingly well for a hydro support, too (which i should know since yelan snubbed me twice before finally coming home on her 3rd run. pain.)

yes! i also got him on his first rerun (and he was my first limited 5 star) and although he was benched for a while since I didn't really understand how to play him, once I picked him up again and actually learned how to play him he's just really satisfying to play. People harp on the skill cooldown but in a proper rotation that's a non-issue even at c0

I fucking love Childe, i used him to clear this abyss and his hydro application just allows him to always be used in a team that needs hydro application. Hes amazing and was my first double 5 star pull in 1.1
This video reminded me of why I started playing Genshin in the first place, which was to have Childe on my account. I started playing around Kokomi's first banner and when I heard that Childe was expected to rerun after her, I grinded every primogem my F2P AR 15 self could get his hands on in order to wish on his banner. Unfortunately I ended up losing my 50/50 to Mona (who has been stuck in level 50 prison as punishment) and I quit playing until 2.8 for Kazuha. I then saved for his 3rd rerun to which I finally got him and I've been proudly using him ever since. He's one of my favorite characters and I'm glad he's still meta after all these years :D
I immediately fell inlove with Childe's playstyle in 1.1 and I will always be grateful for him! He has carried me these past 3 years and has also taught me a valuable lesson of rotation & timing management. It really helped that I was new when I got him since rotations pretty much became 2nd nature to me after playing him.
8:32 Well, Childe, Thoma, Traveller, Sucrose is not the most commonly used Childe burgeon team. His much better one is intergrassional (Childe, Bennett, Nahida, Kazuha) and it slaps
Edit: Oh also, how can we forget that he also got a new artifact set at the end of 3.x (Nymphs Dream) that nobody but him is suited for, but its his bis? He keeps getting buffed lol
Nymphs dream works for Neuvillette btw.
And probably no one mentioned it, because this is yet another new "+5% damage increase" artifact set. I feel people are tired of this, to spend a month worth of resin for a small damage improvement again (like they did it for Xiao, bloom and Wanderer sets). Also the other one in that domain is Wurukasha set, and no character really needs it for now
@@Romashka_Sov Nymphs Dream is not Neuvillette's BiS artifact set, its Marachausee Hunter. Only Childe right now has Nymph's Dream as his BiS. I guess you can say maybe Ayato?? But I dont know him well enough to say for sure.
And it's a significant enough increase over Heart of Depth imo. It's basically Polar Star in artifact form

@@Romashka_Sov I mean it's effectively just worse than using double-piece hydro so saying it works is like saying Shim works on Nuev, yeah you can make it work but you're actively sandbagging yourself. 15% CA dmg and 36 crit rate vs 15% hydro damage bonus + conditional uptime on another 15% is just a really awful comparison. For it to be better you'd have to not have substats on any of your pieces on the new set for it to be a consideration.
The +5% dps sets can be annoying, but it's in such rare cases and has only really been for characters that didn't have a great set made for them, Childe was one of them so it's nice to have a set he can fully utilize. The bloom-specific one is kinda odd though, it's barely better in practice and often only 2-3%. You'd want to farm Deepwood pieces anyway so you'll have Gilded already.
What bothers me when it comes to Tartaglia would be about the reputations of his team comps. It's hard to imagine, but I'll vaguely try put it this way:
I'd imagine there's a standard for "power" on teams in Genshin to be considered Abyss viable or comfortable to play, let's put 100% "power" as that standard.
Tartaglia's fireworks comp would be around 75-85% power, freeze comp at around 60-75% power, hyperbloom at 80-100% power. While Internasional is around a whopping 150-300% power (at least on the abyss viable part), while most overworld contents at hardest only need 50-80% power.
Not the best examples, I know, but the point is his Internasional team is so good that even if his others teams are "viable" by themselves, they don't compare to International.
He CAN work on other teams, it's just that Spiral Abyss is a content with damage sponges and time limits, where International is most demanded.
I'd try to never use International unless such challenge or level is to be cleared, I didn't even knew about said team because I was busy trying to replicate his delusion form
I love playing International. All the characters synergize so well and it works great in both AoE and ST. Even when you get a chamber with a bunch of Hydro enemies Bennett/XL/Kazuha are there, if it's Pyro shields then Childe/Kazuha deal with it. Everything else just melts (or is vaporized XD).
Kazuha and Childe are 2 of my favorites story/design wise. I started in 1.5 so I got Kazuha first and then Childe on his rerun in 2.2, mostly just because I like their deigns the Meta stuff was a happy accident XD

My new favourite on fielder/dps now is nuvilette. Childe is 2nd now.
what I like about this team since I invested in it, it's how versatile it is. Strong against all elements, aoe and bosses.

Tartaglia was my 1st limited 5 star in 1.1 and I have no regrets whatsoever. He’s my GOAT
3 damn years and still no balance patches. Like damn. They charge hundreds of $$$ for each character just to leave them in the dust to rott and release straight up better/stronger versions of them later down the line.
Hate how greedy Hoyo is when it comes to this. I know rebalancing doesnt make them insta cash like new characters, but still....
Powercreeping is very rare in this game. I mean the 1.0 4 stars are still the strongest characters in game
Good to see someone enjoying Childe. I've enjoyed him since the beginning, going form C1 at his release to C6 on his rerun, It's funny to me how people skipped Kazuha. I C6'd Kazuha on his release because I knew he was going to be broken. I still use Childe a lot to this day, whenever my Geodudes (Itto, Zhongli, Gorou, Albedo/Bennett/Mona) can't get the job done and he always holds up.
I got him on his first rerun in 1.4, soon after got my first 36* and I've been clearing every single abyss with no exception since then using him, international can deal with absolutely everything, doesn't matter how many enemies, doesn't matter what shield they have, doesn't matter how many waves, doesn't matter if its a boss, this team just doesn't care and beats up everything

i dont understand either why ppl sleep on him. he's one of the best hydro driver of the international. he shines mostly in multy target battles, but that doesnt mean he cant do his job against bosses either. i accidentally pulled him in 1.1, and started using him when i accidentally pulled his weapon too, and oh boy wish i used him earlier

As someone who dislikes both characters equally, exactly this. Especially after both of their character quests. Childe's felt like contrived comedy, while Raiden's was strange at best. @.@
Honestly a big factor on why she’s so popular is because she’s already a fan favorite character in Honkai impact, plus now there’s leaks that she’s gonna be playable in HSR too. Plus booba sword

The neat thing about teams with high hydro and pyro damage is they with pretty much every element shield. It really only can’t deal with geo shields so there’s not much that can’t be dealt with
I wish people played intergrassional (international but replace xiangling with Nahida) more often. It’s my favorite team in the whole game
I still stand by the fact that Childe is Hoyo's magnum opus when it comes to designed characters. Along with Alhaitham, Hu Tao and Neuvi, not even talking about damage, but just how rewarding their kits feel to play.
Childe's highly rewarding vape damage comes at the cost of a long cooldown if you stay on his blades for too long. Meaning you're going to have to pay attention and rotate correctly and efficiently and make the most of them.
Hu Tao's damage bonus when she's near death is a great risk-reward factor and encourages you to either bring a shield or dodge correctly.
Alhaitham encourages you to sort of think like him in the middle of combat, balancing the timings of the Prisms you can get with his skill and his charge attack and try and keep those 3 shards so you can unleash his burst.
Neuvi goes without say.
Just love everything about this character. From his Riptide, Weapon selection, being Fatui, Childe and Lumine Ships, Voice actor, Storyline, There is nothing to hate on this character.

IF you play as Lumine you will definitely feel the Childe Lumine Ships in their conversation 😅.
From saving Lumine in Liyue / Introducing his brother to Lumine / Fighting battles / Giving his Vision to Lumine in fontaine definitely feels like an excuse to meet again. And I'm sure there is more to come and we might see them battle side by side in future 😅😅

my favorite thing about Childe is that he is super versatile as a hydro dps driver, he does everything you want from hydro by himself so you can use any other characters.
the only thing i hate is that his best team being international sucks to use in overworld exploration lmao.

Tartaglia was my first limited banner 5 star(excluding Keqing's banner), and for a long time, i built him but never played him. But i recently unlocked his c1 by accident and began fucking around with a mono-hydro team (Kokomi, Yelan and Kazuha) and quite enjoyed it. Then i played around with the international team. Now i regret not giving him a chance early since im really enjoying playing with him.
Another buff Childe got that wasn't mentioned in this video was the Nymph's Dream set which is much better for him then Heart of Depth. Heart of Depth only buffs his Normal and Charge attacks, Nymph's Dream gives him more Hydro damage and ATK for doing Normal, Charge, Elemental skill and Burst. Which Childe does everything in his kit besides Normal and Charge attacks.
Yeah, but that set it with that other horrendous set, while HoD is with the freeze set. Worse resin efficiency for 7-8% more damage if you prestack it or 3% if you go fast.
@MCHR92 While Vorukasha's Glow 4 piece set is only good on Deyha only, The 2 piece set is nice for a lot of Hp scaling characters like Zhongli, Kirara, Baizhu, Nilou so on. And is miles better for resin efficiency than farming the mililith domain with the Physical set.
@@MultiDragonreaper True but if you are doing that for your supports it means you are really investing in them, else a 4pc to give extra utility is better (we really need more support artifacts). In my case, I doubt I'll get a 230 CV 4 piece set for my Ayato just to get a little more damage and having to change how I play him in my teams, and maybe strongbox some
Meanwhile the farming for dps will keep you there longer, and sure if you just want to build Childe is better to go for Nymph.
In the dragonspine domain you farm for damage dealers who want better substats, cryo that can use freeze can find use, and HoD works for Ayato (his other artifact is even worse resin efficient and ping dependant), Neuvillete prefers HoD than Nymph if you have a good one around, and I'm inclined to think someone at a certain constellation won't mind a good HoD, so it's worth to go to that domain rather than using strongbox.
The set buffs are good but good subtstats on a non BIS artifact is not bad, but this is all luck dependant, so it's better to aim where you have better opportunity returns.
@@MCHR92 Fair enough. Imo if you had Childe before the release of the Nymphs Dream set and had a good HoD set on him or a good 2p HoD/2p Glad and beat content with him like that, you don't need to farm for Nymph.
For me I got Childe in 4.0 and have been farming the Nymph domain to get 2pc Nymph, 2pc Varukasha for Nilou for ages. So it's a no brainer to give him that set.
I'm only bringing up Nymph's dream as a buff for Childe because if Vars is going to bring up Polar Star(which most people aren't going to attempt to get because the Weapon banner is terrible} and Emblem for Xiangling improving the Childe international team then Nymph's dream is worth mentioning.

True, and even Polar Star is marginally better in certain situations or even worse than other options where you can't prestack it (bows are stacked with crit weapons... meanwhile claymore only has 2 5 star with CV and 1 of them is gone)
It's worth the mention, Polar is something you can guarantee if you are inclined or have the resources to try for (even when is clearly a scam, simps will simp), but an excellent or at least great artifact set? ... that could take way longer.
I love Childe, I don't really perceive him as evil, he wants a good fight all the time, and the best way to do it is to well, be the villain. That, and he doesn't really try to go all out into torturing innocent people like some of his colleagues.

I watched this video out of pure curiosity. It's been literally years since I dropped Genshin; as far back as not long after the Albedo release iirc.
You have no idea how funny this video is to me, because I'm probably one of the few day 1 players who went for Childe because I liked him way more than any other other units of the time or upcoming, including Zhongli and Raiden (I hated them both actually).
That Childe/Benny/Xiangling/Sucrose team was exactly what I was using as my go-to main team back then and it's what would greet me where I ever to go back to Genshin lmao
Tartaglia will continue to be the best hydro character on-field and i'm sure this never gonna change, international is simply the beast team in the game in every situation at low and high investment🗿

My pride as a Childe main has gone sky high. I wanted Childe ever since I joined the game after his first banner. I nabbed him, his weapon and his constellation on every rerun respectively since. Even in version 4 with highly anticipated hydros on the way (neuvilette and furina), Childe will always be a powerful option (a popular pick or not). How appropriate on him to get so much more attention now with his lore and character development with the current archon quest.
Childe international and Nahida hyperbloom, thats my spiral abyss teams without thinking too much. They get the job done. I don't need to think and build other teams as long as they are still meta lol.
International is a stronger team than Raiden National, btw

I got Childe by "accident". When I first started playing I didnt know about soft pity. I tried a lot to get Klee but I eventually stopped and decided I will get Zhongli instead. I was away from the 90 pity and if you dont include pity Genshin rates are worse than FGO so needing to reach pity is the norm. Diona was on his banenr and I thought of doing a few pulls to get her, but soft pity kicked in. I was pretty happy and things turned out for the better, I would rather have Childe than Klee on my account.
I'm still impressed how his kit is still the only stance changing character in the game.

He's still one of the most fun characters to run to this day, which is sad considering I only grabbed him on his first rerun because I wanted him and Rosaria.

Ah, good ol' Childe, a mainstay in my team ever since I F'd up and pulled on his banner for pity while trying to prepare for Zhongli... Fast forward, like, 40 pulls and I had a C2 Childe and a C0 Qiqi...
Let this be a lesson, don't pull unless you're accepting the 5-star. I've learned my lesson...
Plus side, fast-forward to now and despite being F2P I have a C4 Childe, so... luck do be a lady sometimes.
It is still kinda sad childe only has international even after so long , I've tried the nahida one but it felt so copium now childe has a new use in speedrun with neuv comps but it's still whatever..fire works childe could be back if chlorinde turns out better beidou
Maybe Furina can replace Benett in International teams,as long you can handle Xiangling's ER problems.
At c1 his other teams become more viable because it removes some of the issues with his cd. International is still the best by far but removing 1 or 2 seconds from his cd makes it feel smoother and stronger.

when hoyo design childe they only thought that his cooldown will be enough downside of him that make his constelation solve the downside and never thought about his riptide and hydro aplicationn that make him good
if childe release these day they will swap his ascention passive to his constelation like his A4 to C1 or heck his A1 to C1 and A4 to his C2
Ahh I was so excited for this Childe video and it absolutely did not disappoint!! I've been a Childe main since his first rerun and the point at 13:06 definitely holds true; I have so many new and fun characters, but I always come back to him. The only ones who have ever come close to being as fun as Childe is for me would be Alhaitham and Lyney. I'm not huge into the meta so I'd use him regardless, but it does make me really happy to see that my favorite character is still so useful almost three years later. :) Amazing video, thank you for this!!
Honestly as long as Xiangling remains the only viable pyro subdps i dont think hes gonna stretch much beyond international.. bloom teams can still be explore though but likely not gonna be as strong as the old childe benny xl kaz..
even if there is a better sub pyro dps, Xiangling would probably still be childes best option due to the internal cooldown on application, they just dont release characters with that anymore like Xianglings.
If we had someone with a pyro application as absurd as Xiangling's... they could even have weaker scaling than hers or having some BS conditions to do so like drain health like Neuvilette's, while having enough ER to not need another pyro char as battery or ER sands.
I hope Arlecchino will be a "pyro childe" with Fontaine HP stuff, then her sub-dps could be someone that works for both teams and/or Lyney for a mono-pyro for her that doesn't include the international team, or maybe she could work in Childe teams as sub-dps too, replacing Xiangling, although she kinds gives vibes that she'll be an on-fielder.

I would like to say that Polar Star isn't necessarily a buff for Childe. A lot of the 5* bows in the game has Crit main stat and it depends on the artifacts of the user's Childe. Childe is sssuuupppeeerrrr F2P friendly and thus, has a lot of great weapon options where many of the weapons give similar DPS outputs. For i.e. my Childe has 79:206 crit stat with well above 2k ATK which has been possible thanks to Skyard Harp. This couldn't have been possible for me with Polar Star. So yeah, his best weapon option depends on his artifacts really.

@@usmanya5110 Oh, Hamayumi for sure. Because it's less niche and certainly much more consistent. But, bottom line, you're gonna want to try to gacha at least the Rust all the way to R5, or Skyward Harp or Polar Star or even Yoimiya's signature purple bow (Sowwie I forgot the name). Literally, any weapon that focuses on providing Normal ATK dmg, High ATK and Base ATK or just good ol's stat sticks being either Crit Rate/Crit DMG (Depending on which you need but try to keep a 1:2 ratio to begin with)
@@laststrand69 hmm... i have both rust and Stringless, and idk why but i'm not really a huge fan of rust on childe like i tested it and it feels less than stringless and King's squire(if the passive works) idk it feels like something is missing, i'll try to get hamayumi when i get the blue prints though. maybe it's due to it's passive. since a majority of his damage is mostly from his riptides(which counts as skill damage) and his burst.
Then in sumeru from nowhere, we also get Childe's artifact set

5:32 Vape is absolutely not a byproduct of this team, it was made specifically because of OverVape and the unique properties of the Electrocharged reaction, Raiden’s personal damage in this team and her buffs to her other party members are certainly a factor but it’s not the only reason or even the main reason that this team is viable, why would Xingqiu be there if not specifically to make vaporises? If it’s for the damage then why isn’t Yelan the most used Hydro character in this team when she has higher burst damage? It’s because Xingqiu has higher Hydro application with his Rain Swords providing consistent hydro application around the active character
And partially because National is designed to be the most effective team using the least 5*s but that’s not the main factor here as even whales don’t use Yelan in this team
Afaik, Xingqiu is preferred cuz he can actually use Bennett's buff compared to his 5* counterpart, which can push his personal damage over hers (at least in a C6 XQ vs. C0/1 Yelan to my own experience). Despite that, Yelan would still be better just for her ramping damage bonus to the whole team. But to my understanding, the point of the team is general accessibility to most players in tandem with high effective DPS, rather than whale your heart out for mega optimization.
To your point though, reactions do still comprise a decent portion of the DPS in the team, and rather than the raw output being the sole point, it's just the main focus ig.
(Take all this with a grain of salt, cuz I don't actually use Raiden National personally pft)
@@Thunderclaw-sq1vmyelan wont ever be better in national teams, she cant make xiangling vape every hit. xiangling does the most dps in those teams, so teams dps is gonna be lower (national with xingqiu has 10k dps more than with yelan, which is kinda huge)
Although I love Tartaglia's gameplay and kit I have to admit I would love to see his constellations get buffed/changed, such as more of his cons enhancing his riptide effect and improving the uptime, application and damage of it.
