I was asked in the comments of that video to take a look at this Drill/Driver, so I decided to discuss the features and show it in action. I have had this tool for 2 years and mostly enjoy the tool compared to the Bosch 12v Flexiclick I had previously. There are several things that are Good.... but a few things I mention that are Bad that I would like to see changed in Gen 2.

Agreed. This drill is amazing to me. I use it for 99% of what you’d need a drill for.
Amen. I don't understand their decision NOT to put a locking collar on the offset. You're totally right about the dentist drill sound. hahaha
No collet on the offset is the biggest flaw of this tool. The sound is still not as loud as an impact… it’s the pitch of it.

I have mine since maybe 1,5 or 2 years and I absolutely love it! The power is there when needed and it’s super handy and lightweight.
All the features you presented make it my daily go-to tool.
Since I bought it, I rarely have been using my other drills/drivers. Even the direction switch isn’t something I worry too much about once I got used to it.

I had the older brushed Bosch Flexi Click and it didn’t have enough power to put in longer screws. That made me have to carry something else.
I really like it. Most people that don’t, it usually the button for forward/reverse.

Man did you really sell me on this little powerhouse. I was planning on grabbing the hex screwdriver but after seeing this in one of your other videos and now watching this I know this will be the next addition to the set. I really appreciate this solid review, keep up the good work man.

Terrific tool for tight spaces.
I found it handy while installing drawers in a dark location.

I've been learning more about this tool and your video has sent me over the edge. I'm definitely going to get this. I already own one of the Milwaukee m18 drivers and I really like it. Before that I bought the Ryobi drill and driver set, but Milwaukee has them beat by alot in my opinion. Great video!
I just bought into Milwaukee in the last couple years… and their Fuel line of M12 and M18 are the best cordless tools I have used so far.
It’s not that the others are bad and can’t get the job done… but in my opinion they all do what they are supposed to do, really well.
And the size/weight/power of the M12 is super good.

What a great review! I was basically in the same situation. I bought the instalation drill/driver on sale and was having buyers remorse in terms of if I really needed it. I already had the m12 hammer drill. impact, and right angle drills so I felt as though it was redundant and i was wasting money. But after watching this with all the comparaisons and use cases I now actually feel my purchase was legit. Thanks!

You made some great points, funny thing is I have two of these units. HD had Christmas sales a few years back $179.00 for the set w/2 2.0 batteries and 1 free 6.0 battery. But I never seem to use either of these when doing repairs. I always take in the M12 impact and M12 1/4" hex driver, I like this unit alot, simple and gets the job done when a impact is not needed. It's amazing how lazy I get not wanting to go back out to my truck if I did not being in the right driver. But I will start bringing my install driver in with me more often...
I do the same thing… we have too many tools that it’s hard to keep them in the rotation 😂

Nice tip on holding and switching direction. I bought it yesterday online, it's on the way. I've wanted it since it came out and finally pulled the trigger. The direction control was a serious concern and the way you hold it completely resolves that issue. Thanks.

@@MORGANSMaintenance not to berate the point, but in the past two days since I've ordered this tool, I have got into a half-dozen situations whereas the angles would have been so much easier with this tool AND the more accurately the job would have been accomplished. That's the way it seems to work.

I love my installation drill driver! I've had mine just over 2 years at this point, and I couldn't live without it now. I do a lot of cabinet building and assembly, so this thing is an absolute life saver. I pretty much exclusively use the offset head because it doesn't hurt to use it without really needing it (except for bit retention, but if I have to drill any holes, I use a different head anyways). I don't use the magnet for bits but I do use it for those little 1/4 inch screws for securing drawer glides and brackets, and trust me, it can hold alot of those little screws. This drill and my m12 surge are the perfect pair for my work. Couldn't live without them! Also, great reviews and content. It's refreshing to see someone give honest and experience based reviews. Keep up the great work!

We have much the same view… between this and my M12 Surge I can get a lot done.. and at a lower volume.
I have every fuel drill they make, m12 & M18. Except for this one and the m12 surge. Which one would you recommend more?

The installation driver is an ergonomic masterpiece. I've also had mine for two years, and it has all-but replaced all my other cordless drills. The only thing I wish it had is a 1/2" chuck.

I had wanted to try the Festool for years but it’s not something you can just go look at in my area and no one I knew had one.
Then I was getting into the M12 line and had a with a combination of Milwaukee and Bosch 12v tools and already had the Bosch FlexiClick so I couldn’t make my myself spend the $229 at the time to get this.
I ended up catching it on sale with a feee tool and ultimately got this for $120 and glad I did. Like you this is my most used for sure. If I don’t need an impact, this is the tool I am using.
The balance and feel is the #1 reason I like it. That and it has enough power to do more anything I would use a tool like this for.
One of the best screwdrivers I've ever had.
He's really, really good. Small, light with a lot of power. I always screw my screws to the magnets, very practical. It's really fun to work with.

Bought the standard Fuel combo last winter and looking to add to the collection. Thanks for the great overview of this interesting tool. I hate the location of the forward/back switch on the M12 drivers, so I would love that feature. The Milwaukee designers must have small hands. I push the switch over to forward almost every time I grip the handle on my M12s. A top switch is a nice fix.
I like the button, but I use it a lot and it has become 2nd nature to me 👍👍

Totally agree. I’ve been using mine for about the same amount of time, and would buy a new one tomorrow for all the reasons you presented. It’s a fantastic everyday gun for guys like us that have to do it all.
I am holding out hope that they change the directional switch from the top to the trigger. I don’t have big meat hooks so it’s just a pain to switch back and forth when I’m in a tight spot.
But it’s a fantastic gun, and makes a great wedding present for buddies that don’t have a lot of tools.

Thanks. It's a love or hate tool it seems. Especially the trigger. My guess is they would change it, I think the majority vote they prefer the standard switch.
Mostly depends on what you use it for. I use mine as a powered screwdriver basically, but it can do a little heftier work in a pinch.
Samsies. Very rarely need to pull out the impact driver. This does 3” just fine.

I almost bought one 2yrs ago, and have considered it occasionally between then. It looks like a great tool, it's versatile. Figure it'll come in handy, and might even replace one of the impacts on the van.

I got my kit for $138 by getting the ratchet free and returning it. I didn’t expect that I would like it as much as I do.
@@MORGANSMaintenance that was the deal when I almost purchased it. I had just purchased the m12 fuel impact, hammer drill kit with the same deal. I told myself at the time not to overdo it lol.
Fast forward somewhere between 2 and 3 years later, and the same deal presents itself again. If I return the ratchet I'll be in it for 119. Had to buy it this go around. Like last time I had the ratchet, I'm going to be tempted to just keep the ratchet lol.
Yeah… that’s how I ended up getting hooked on Milwaukee. Once I learned the Hack at Home Depot I couldn’t pass up buying tools I may only even use once 😂

The Bosch I had was the brushed older model. Good tool, but wasn’t strong enough. I’m sure the newer model is right on par power wise with this one. 👍
Yeah, probably. What I like about Bosch is that the bit holders are all with lock and do not have much play in there. On Milwaukee, the shorter bits slip too deep into the holder and the offset head doesn't have any lock, just magnet, which is inconvenient for me.@@MORGANSMaintenance

I'm on the Makita platform but have been eying this for a while. I wouldn't feel bad since it's 12v so it would be a 1 off for me. My goto's are the compact Makita's but I have to carry 2 tools. This makes so much more sense.
You can tell by the comments… some people like it, some don’t. I really like mine. I don’t use it to build decks or frame houses but it has done everything I have asked it to.
I really like my M12 Surge but I needed something with clutch settings. The right angle is super nice.

As a homeowner/DIYer this is my most used power tool. Use this for almost everything.
Only real complaint is the reverse switch... not because of the location, which is fine, but because I always have to look to see if I'm in forward or reverse. Would be better if I could just feel which direction I'm in.
Yeah I catch myself in the wrong direction every now and then… but for the most part I’m looking at the screw and I just press the button.
It is occasionally an issue when I’ve got my hand in somewhere and going in blind though.
I really like it. I use it anytime that I don’t need an impact. It’s my most used behind my Surge.
I kinda like it, if i turn on the drill and dont like the direction click the button goes the other way.

@@MORGANSMaintenance I do rigging, hardware and electrical installations on small boats, under 50'. In some cases it requires working in tight compartments while doing extreme contortions. This driver, w the various heads, gives me tons of control to get it done correctly without doing damage.
@@chiphill4856 yeah the right angle being rigid on the tool is much better than the adapters you can buy that swivel.
I like the feel of it too. I really like how balance it feels. I now know what all those Festool lovers have been so happy about with their D Handle

Hey Morgan , great video. As you know I bought this driver a few months back and I like the design and it’s purpose. I’ve been using this driver with the offset head for kreg jig screws and it has been working well. I also mainly use the 1/4” hex driver. Yes the dentist drill noise is rough but I’d rather listen to that than the impact driver. Milwaukee should sponser you!

Yeah, the noise isn’t loud… it’s more the pitch but I agree, it’s better than the impact sound.
I use the offset a lot. The more you get used to it the less you get your bits pulled out, but I wish they had a locking collet. That was the only thing about the Bosch that was better.
If you use this in the places you would use the M12 Screwdriver… that’s the sweet spot.
@@MORGANSMaintenance yes I agree on the locking collet, I love my m12 screwdriver. I have the brushed version and it is awesome. Do you store the install driver heads in the bag it came with or do you have another idea? I saw someone with a packout organizer with the kaizan foam and everything fit great in there.
@@parts7959 Right now I have been keeping them in a spot in my Packout Drawers (in my truck). I usually keep the 1/4” on it all the the time too, then the other three I grab when I need them.
I’ve seen the foam, and I’ve also seen a 3D printed mount. Both are pretty neat but using hard tool cases in my setup has never really worked for me.

I use mine every day. I agree and want to point out a good design feature...the high hand placement allows the forward force to be centered so there is little to no creep when drilling holes. Normally, the lower hand position puts an offset forward pressure on the bit which when starting a brill bit, allows too much travel off the intended start point. I have to center-punch to counter the travel, but even then, I've dtill plenty of elongated holes with the standard, lower hand position. Like Morgan showed, I trigger with my middle finger so that the force applied is directely behind the bit.
I bore holes in steel tubes and where I used to have to center-punch, with the installation driver it hardly ever creeps away from my start point.

i had this one on my last jobb for 3 years and it was great had to turn it in when i left but now on my new jobb i convinced my company too buy me a new one its a realy great drill too have as an service electrian and i just bought it too have one at home too

That is one of mines big uses. It's not going to do some things an impact will do... but I use mine for anything I would use a screwdriver for, or a drill/driver without any issues.
"Installing Things" with an Installation driver...it works great for me. I would buy an impact if I could only have one, but they both do things the other one won't.

This honestly is one of their better tools for versatility. The fact that you can use the right angle with any of the other heads and they lock into position is priceless. Speaking of which this kit with a 5ah battery goes on sale regularly for $179
I love the Right Angle being stationary compared to using one of the adapters in your regular impact that swivels. So much easier when all you have to hold is the trigger and fastener.

I got mine a couple months back. It's a go to tool. It took me no time to adjust to the forward and reverse switch. My favorite feature is honestly the hand position, which puts my wrist inline with the drilling and fastening.
I do agree the biggest downside is how the grip is very tippy. Because of that, I ordered the new M12 HO batteries hoping it's a better base because of the rubber over molding they are putting on it.
I just saw on Etsy that someone 3D prints a pice that screws onto the belt clip that extends the base to match a big battery.
If it only screws on one side that I don’t have to lose my belt clip I may try one for giggles. I like the small batteries though.

Get the 6 or 4 AH battery and it stands on it's own nicely.
Finally somebody is holding that installation driver right. That is exactly how you Grip it the same way you would grip a screw gun I’m shocked that so few people have figured that out considering it has the same ergonomics with the finger grooves up top just like a screw gun for sheet rock.
It is a very similar hold. It is what I like about it, it is a more comfortable hold to me and makes me feel like I have more control.
I use an impact when I need one, but this is my tool of choice for everyday type task.

I feel the same way and it does give you more control the pressure you apply is in line with the faster that you’re driving opposed to beneath when you’re holding or gripping the handle of a regular driver or impact.

Cool. You can get a small 1/4in hex drive to keyless chuck so you can also use round shank drill bits with this tool. The one I have is a Neiko brand. They say it is impact rated, but the bit tends to get stuck in the chuck if used on an impact...otherwise, it works great for small jobs.
One of the heads for this is a regular drill chuck but it only goes up to 3/8 and not 1/2…
I have something similar to what you are talking about for my SDS drill to use regular bits. It does the same thing, sometimes those bits are a bear to get out after using it.

I got this and the Bosch flexiclick brushless and I returned the Milwaukee. I liked the Milwaukee quite a bit but after using them both for some time the Bosch is just more precise both in fit of the bits and trigger action, with a much smoother motor. Most of the weight of the Milwaukee is far in front of your wrist making it harder to control and really making it more of a strain to use. The Bosch has an actual forward/reverse lever making it much faster to use, and the battery charger is like 1/4 the size of the giant 1980s style Milwaukee charger. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Milwaukee is more powerful but I need precision over power, and I haven’t found anything the Bosch couldn’t drive. If I need something beefier for larger holes or lag bolts I’d just go with an 18v subcompact.
I had the FlexiClick before I got into M12 and it was power that drove me away from it. It was the older brushes version, the brushless may be stronger.
It is a bigger deal for me because I don’t want to carry two drills in with me. I did like the head attachments better on the Bosch though. That’s just me though…

Good luck with longevity, Botch lol just doesn't cut it on the long haul at all. Pure land fill gear if you plan on using it more than a few times.

Oooh, very nice! Your "bad" points won't bother me. The magnet is an outstanding feature, as is the "double-chuck;" one for pilot holes, and one for the screw to go through that hole.

It’s one of my favorite tools. I probably use my surge more, but this is right there with it.
Milwaukee needs to take this idea and make a "multi tool" with tons of adapters you can buy. I would love a (small) angle grinder blade attachment, PVC cutter, PEX a expander, etc
Would be nice. The tool would wear out quicker from more use, but you would definitely save some space.
Your views on the installation driver echo my own aside from one thing: I never stand up any of my drill/drivers any more, so using it with a bigger batter isn't an issue for me. Too many times I've bumped them, knocked them over and marred the surface of whatever I set them on. I still stick with CP 3.0s though; I prefer the more compact footprint and lighter weight. I do agree that the offset chuck should be locking, and I also don;t mind the forward/reverse switch since I hold the driver the same way you do. All said and done, I love the installation driver; it's basically what a brushless CXS could have been.
I’m a smaller battery fan myself too. (In my drivers) I prefer the more compact size, which is the reason I got into M12 to start with. The big batteries are nice for the saws and lights… and the drill I leave setting on my workbench.

I have been waiting for a big sale and a job to justify the purchase of the installation driver. I think I would love it but haven't found an actual need for it yet, next cabinet install I do I will for sure pick one up. I really need to get into the m12 line, currently only have Ridgid 18v and Milwaukee 18v. I think the 12v stuff would be plenty of power for most things and less weight on my tool belt.
I love the M12. It is better than all my older 18v stuff…. And your right, the size is awesome.
I ended up getting mine for $138 with the kit. They had a deal if you bought it you got a free tool and the 3/8 ratchet was $149. It let me return it for $90.
So if you catch it on the right sale, you can get it pretty cheap.

I had a flexiclic , totally underpowered ! I really like mine , and often carry it in my Veto TPXXL ( when I’m not carrying my M12 Surge ) . I typically use the 3AH battery pack . Good review , sir !
Thank you. I really liked the size and the heads of the FlexiClick… but I always had to carry an impact for the “just in case”.
I wouldn’t build a deck with this, but it does fine with the “just in case”
I run a compact 3.0 in mine as well. Those are my favorite batteries.
@@MORGANSMaintenance I gave mine ( and also the Bosch 12V Jigsaw , to a Buddy who’s a Lawyer ( only does light delicate stuff around the house/ Office ) . The Jigsaw is also nice ( but shares the low powered issue ) .
@@chrisfyfe9212 yeah the only Bosch 12v tools I have left is my 3 plane laser and the planer. No one else has a planer that size, and the laser is really good.
I had several of their 12v tools but none were brushless. Maybe their newer ones are more powerful? I haven’t used any.

Objectively speaking moving the forward/reverse from the 'standardized' above the trigger layout, is counterintuitive. If it's meant to be a compact tool, yes you can use your thumb to switch - except this adds height to the tool itself when attempting to work with it (as you have 1/2"-3/4 space to accommodate your thumb & knuckle against whatever surface it's bumping into). The thing most common & most toggled setting on any drill is universally the direction, above clutch setting, above drill mode, above profile/lighting, and above drill bit changes. It's the first thing you always interact with, which is understandably why it's also (imo) an objectively poor ergonomic choice of design.
But, I'm not a scientist nor a professional, so take it all with a grain of salt, what do I know lol
Yeah the switch is the big contention between most who don’t like it.
My guess is they will change it if possible in the next version. Most the people who don’t mind it could go either way, verses people who hate it won’t buy it…
We will see hopefully. I’m interested in their next version of this tool and their surge… curious what they come up with.

I work mostly, almost exclusively with steel, concrete and heavy machinery, I would have gone into this thinking "wow, what a bizarre little rinky dink thing" but after watching your vid I'm starting to think there could be a use, it definitely can set a screw up in a corner in timber or plastic, probably in sheet too. Really the angles it can reach is what I'd use this for.

Yeah the offset is nice to have… I wish it had a locking bit holder, but maybe that will be on Gen 2.

I really like it. They run it on a deal with a “free something” at Home Depot pretty often. I bought mine with a free ratchet, they split the receipt so I returned the ratchet for $90 and got the Kit for $138.
I bought this as a general purpose drill for around the house. It's only real downside is the magnet on the off set. Bits like to stick to the workpiece instead of the drill. Better bit retention is needed.

Great video! I would swap the direction switch on the top of the drill to a negative and I'd agree with bit retention on the offset and straight to tool also negative.
Something about the sound I like. Milwaukee, to me, has some awesome sounding tool motors except for the cordless table saw. That may be the worst tool they make. If I wasn't cordless only, is get rid of it.
I haven’t bought any of the table saws or bigger Miters because they are only battery.. 9 times out of 10 I have power everywhere I am working.
Yeah I get why some people wouldn’t like the switch. My hand size works to where it is fine for me… but it’s definitely a change to get used to.

I'm a apartment maintenance guy and I've been using Bosch 12v. I think I'm going to change brands very soon just because of tool selection.
I was the same. I ran Bosch 12V before switching to Milwaukee and there just aren’t many tools available.
I held on to a few for some time, but Milwaukee has pretty much taken over 100% for me now

This type of driver may be less popular or reviewed negatively, because it's too versatile for a 12V tool. 18V platform would be great for it.

I am surprised they don’t have an M18 version of this yet. I think they have another 12v version with the body of the standard drill… but I’ve never seen it.
Watching the video back, I was wondering if you would catch the Vacuum being fixed. That is so much nicer to hold the hose.
I’m thinking of getting a couple different Systainers, but I’m leaning towards one being the open top with a handle to make me a drywall knife/tools setup.
@@MORGANSMaintenance That bucket style systainer comes in two heights and two base sizes (standard called middle and larger called large). Standard lower: SYS3 TB M 137, 204865; standard higher: SYS3 TB M 237, 204866. These two fit the vacuum best. I recommend the higher one. This particular systainer has some disadvantages. There's an inward rim that make taking things out difficult. Also the foldable handle limits its storage volume.
Given the reduction of size of 18V tools, such driver should definitely be M18 tool.

Yeah the only difference in size between my M18 and M12 is the battery and where it attaches. The rest of the tool is almost identical. Tools keep getting more powerful and smaller… what a time we are living in.

I'm looking to purchase something for some upcoming projects (new fence, refurbish some decking, hanging curtain poles and just general homeowner DIY) Im locked into the Milwaukee systems, both 12v and 18v as I can get the batteries from work. Would you recomend the 4 in 1 or should I be looking at getting a drill/ driver set up instead? Thanks again.
I prefer the 4-1 over the regular drill just for the option of the right angle. It’s much different using the right angle on this, and having to hold the type you put in a drill driver. The only advantage of a drill/driver to me, would be to get the hammer/drill driver if you are going to need to drill small holes into concrete much. Things like tapcons.
It is still a 12v and not an 18v, but the power of the M12 tools has been great for me. The only time I use my M18 is for heavy use jobs for battery life.
I have a lot of tools that the work gets spread out, but I know I use this tool and my M12 Surge more than anything else. My M12 Drill/Driver has been moved to mixing drywall mud for patches in my pan.

Nicely done. I have one of these and on paper like it a ton. I got some Fastcap foam and put the Installation driver into a compact Packout with its chucks/heads so it's always ready to go in one self-contained package. The offset chuck is a killer feature for sure. I really wish they'd put the forward/reverse control somewhere else but that's just a personal opinion. Overall it's a really practical, flexible, versatile tool and one of those things that makes the M12 system so great.
I also have a Festool CXS and in spite of what I just wrote I have to say that unless the Festool can't get at the fasteners (offset chuck!) I always grab the CXS. I'm not sure it's "better" in any specific way but it just feels and works like an extension of my hand rather than a tool. Objectively, the Milwaukee makes lots more sense: lots of other tools use the M12 batteries (and I have a lot of them), whereas no tool, not even any other Festool tool, uses the CXS battery. I like the Centrotec system but if I didn't have them on hand or didn't want to spend money on them, the Milwaukee is probably more compatible and more economically efficient. (Yes, I know there are lots of ways to adapt standard 1/4" hex driver bits and accessories to the CXS.)
I think most people that have the Festool feel that way from what I’ve read/watched. Overall it is a better driver, just depends on “how good you need” and if it’s “worth the price”
This is by far my most used M12 tool because I use it for my everyday tasks. I use the M12 surge a lot but there are many day to day things I prefer not to use an impact for.
That is a nice set-up in a packout. I leave my drill clipped on my bag and my heads in a packout drawer in my truck. I would definitely go your route if I stored it.

I agree with you on about 95% ok so Bad 👎 kind of loud perk it has the power you need even in speed 2 which i didn't see you go into... 2nd point not being able to hold you bits with the offset on this point I'm with you brother 💯 % there should have been like on the bosh you pushed in and the bit locked if they would fix that mabey a little more power and rpm and the battery issue i use a cp 3.0 but ive run test and you can look on my channel with a 6.0 in 2nd gear I ran a 10" timberlock through a 3×3 out of a 300 year old house down here in Louisiana I dont mind the sound honestly pick up any drill and you get the same thing that harmonics assures me in some kind of weird way when I hear sag or something I know im getting close. You grip is spot on that is the way this tool is designed 👌 🔥 👏 🙌 hit out the park with that one I believe if you had an option to extend and retract the magnetic rail it would accommodate for the bigger battery. But overall I love this tool and its got me out of a pinch on several occasions. Awesome video I think you were spot on with everything you said except a couple minor things that we can agree to disagree on. Thanks. I will check out your video. You are right the sound isn’t loud... it’s more the pitch that gets me. I still prefer the sound level of it over your normal impact (for the times I don’t need an impact.)
I’m interested to see what changes they have if they do a Gen 2. I primarily run a CP 3.0 too. I’m interested in getting the new High Output M12’s for all my tools what they do.
I have seen a few 3D printed options that either make the magnetic base bigger for more stability with a small battery, or longer to allow the bigger battery.

It’s the boot for the regular 1/4” impact driver (not the 1/4” socket impact). I bought it hoping it would still fit. Part # 49-16-2553.

Curious how this matches up with the festool, since it’s basically a copy of their compact drive. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were nearly the same. Also wonder how strong the 90 degree bead is. The festool 90s are unbreakable.
Yeah I never have owned the Festool but I have watched several comparison videos out of my own curiosity. I always wanted one before I bought this just to try the D Handle shape.
I have been really impressed with Milwaukee’s and have had zero issues with any of the heads…with the exception of the offset not locking the bits. Which is a bad design, not an issue of malfunction.
None of the heads feel cheap at all, I can’t imagine breaking them with what you use the tool for.
Not sure if I’ll ever buy the Festool, doubtful just because of not wanting another battery system… but you never know

I have this, the Gen 2 Impact, and the Surge….
I use this quite often (mostly because I like the feel of it), but it isn’t as powerful as an impact. I run into situations that I use the right angle and offset fairly regularly though.
If those are things you don’t need often it’s not really going to do anything your impact won’t do.. especially since there are so many drill bits made to go in impacts these days.
It is quieter than an impact which I have to use in certain settings (like a mall store or office). In those cases it takes place of my M12 Drill.
They run this every now and then as the Kit with free batteries at Home Depot. If you buy it and return the batteries you can get the kit for $138. That’s how I got mine. It’s definitely worth having at that price. That is pretty close to the price of a right angle drill.
I’m not sure if I answered 😂😂😂, just trying to give you as much info as possible. But do you need it… No. is it useful, mostly depends on if you grab a right angle adapter very often, and if you can get it for the price of a right angle drill.
All that said… I wouldn’t buy this over an impact. An impact will do things this won’t.

I forgot to add, hate the speed/reverse switch on all these M12 drivers. I use the Festool CXS's in my shop every day, love them, nice and light, 10 volt batteries last forever. but onsite I like the M12 line, light and powerful, but the selector switch suck...

@@BLASTIC0 if you need a hammer drill function I would go with the drill… other than that I prefer the Installation driver. (Compared to Gen 2… The Newer drill may be significantly better)
The chuck in the installation driver is 3/8 and the drill is 1/2” if that’s a big deal. Never has mattered to me.
I use my drill driver everyday. One great upgrade is sold on EBay is a adapter (battery stand) that keeps the drill driver from being tippy. Another adapter allows the use of the 4/6ah batteries and still stand up and the belt clip is still used. The adapter is a ‘must get’ and makes the drill driver a great useful everyday tool.

How’s this tool in drilling stainless ? I’d like to have small power tool in my toolkit to drill 1-2 holes every now and then in 10mm stainless without having to take the corded drill out.
Im trying to think if I’ve ever drilled into thicker stainless with it. It typically has done well for me drilling in metal electrical boxes including thicker ones…
Probably would depend on the diameter of the hole and having a good drill bit.

Would you say you could use this on a commercial job site? I’m an electrician, and I’m thinking about buying one. Drilling into aluminum and small screws and things like that?

@tylerlevings8578 it does in my opinion. I use it or my M12 surge all the time. There is nothing that I pull out my Surge for that this won’t do. I just swap up depending on what I’m feeling 😂
The only time I get out my M18 is when I’m doing something heavy use all day (for battery life) or bigger lags.

Number 1 yes the Surge impact is my EDC. The best tool I have.
Number 2 I’m still not sold on the installation driver. I still feel like it’s missing power. I do commercial kitchens and sometimes I run into some unruly stainless steel. So the surge can handle it in a pinch but I don’t feel the installation driver can hang. I think if it had a bit more power it could be my number one.
Surge is the "coffee" of my M12 tools, It's the first thing I want on every job 😂😂
The way all Milwaukee tools are going, if they make a Gen 2 it will have more power I'm sure. It works for me but I use mine like the M12 screwdriver but with attachments. Nothing crazy, just the day to day stuff.
What I want is a Surge, shaped like the Installation driver, with multiple heads...

The TP-LC is the best of the that type of bag I have used… from size to pouch location..

I don't let any of my installer stand the tool on the battery on site as it might tip and damage the site. I like Dewalt's compacts as opposed to most battery inside grip because the dewalt has a skinnier grip and your pinky can join the party and relieve fatigue

The way I hold it, it’s easy to reach with my thumb… and if I hold it that way, it would be harder to reach a switch to push it in reverse where one normally is. For me anyways.

Offset adapter issue. I cut down the shaft of a locking collet and JB Weld it in. Problem solved.

It’s decent on like up to 1”.. I mean it’s not a M18 drill, but it can do it with a good bit. I use my Right angle with them at times in hard apots
I dont get why it is so crucial for USA ppl to have the tools standing up... just put it on its side and forget about the risk of tilting it by mistake and maybe break it or break something.
I normally keep mine in my side, but you are right… better off to just leave it on its side so it can’t tip over 👍
The only annoying thing is the fact that the reverse resets itself.
You pokc it up, put it in reverse. Put it down to do something. Pick it up, knowing that it was in reverse, so you click the button. Then it has reset itself.
I haven’t noticed mine doing that… I will have to check and see. I’m probably just don’t have a good enough memory to remember what I had it set for last 😂

Love this puppy but today suddenly NONE of my attachments will connect! Had to pry the head off to remove it and now nothing goes on despite there being nothing obvious!!!!! WHY?!??!?!?

@@MORGANSMaintenance thanks for replying, not sure what happened initially to make the 3/4 chuck get stuck but after prying it off, the connector needed some smoothing out (with my Milwaukee “dremmel”) and now it slides off and on beautifully! I blew out the head and hit it with some graphite and I’m rockin once again!

Off topic , what Meter/ Tester do you use the most ?
I use a Fluke 324 clamp meter most of the time. It has all the functions I generally use. I’ve had it for several years now and it’s been really good.
I had several others before but they didn’t have capacitance. Now it’s a pretty standard feature.
