Crisis in the Congo: How the West Fuels the Bloodshed in the DRC

  • At least 150,000 people have been displaced in the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) amid an escalation of fighting between the Congolese armed forces (FARDC) and the M23 rebel group, a proxy force backed by Rwanda. Over one year after Angola brokered a ceasefire deal, the M23 has continued its offensive, leading to a new wave of mass displacement in the country. Kambale Musavuli of the Center for Research on the Congo details the latest developments of the conflict and breaks down how Western countries, including the US and European Union member states, are complicit in the ongoing violence and destabilization in the DRC.

      Decentralize government, it only attracts poor actors driven by power and control. No work equals no taxes for war, peacefully protest and assemble community. Spread the word locally since main stream media is biased. Support the farmers who are GLOBALLY protesting the WEF economic agenda since it does not hold corporations accountable for 70% of all carbon emissions that they have produced and ravaged the planet. It took 40 Years for the USA to sign on to the 1948 UN Genocide Convention... and it was the atrocities committed by the U.S. on the N. American Tribal Nations which fronted the delay. Ironically, in 1987, it was a Congressman from Delaware who finally signed on for the U.S... none other than "acting" President Joseph Robinette Biden.

    European Union has signed a mineral deal with Rwanda on minerals that are not available in Rwanda but in the Congo. It is clear that UK, EU and US all support Rwanda crime in the Congo even if right now the US is trying to move away and France followed the narrative, calling Rwanda out.
    I think Kambale is to hash on the current Congolese government like he always been critical of all Congolese governments. At least this government has brought the light to expose Rwanda and countries like the US and France are starting to change their narratives.
    The US is definitely making a move toward dropping Rwanda and trying to gain the Congo back probably fearing what is happening in Mali and Burkina Faso where France lost control ad Russia is fully in.

    I like to think of myself as well read and up-to-date on things. But I was shocked about what's going on in the Congo. I had no idea what was happening! The mainstream media doesn't cover this at all

    • @matthewingerson
      @matthewingerson 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And there's a perfectly good explanation as to why they don't cover it, and that is because: The wealthy-right-wingers who own mainstream-media(PROPAGANDA) companies are in the same socioeconomic-class as the wealthy-right-wingers who own mining-extraction companies and weapons-manufacturing companies, and all of those wealthy-right-wingers(PARASITES) donate to the campaigns of(BRIBE) the politicians in the right-wing-extremist Republican and moderate-right-wing Democrat parties.
      They don't cover it on purpose, because they are the culprits who purposely & purposefully impose the destitution, destruction, and death.

    • @monsjohnson8832
      @monsjohnson8832 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, but the situation is actually significantly more complicated than you might think from the interview. As there are several other large armed groups in the DRC (the ADF, CODECO, and the Wazalendos), in addition to small scale militias either independent or aligned with one of the larger groups.
      The conflicts and history are aligned on tribal lines as well as national lines, an additional complication

  • @steakleyclaire
    @steakleyclaire 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

    I love that one of the interviewers owned their own ignorance about the situation. So often you’ll see interviewers acting disrespectfully because they think they know about a situation when they clearly don’t or allow their own obvious ignorance to lead them to act disrespectfully. This was a respectful, “Here’s my question, I would love to be educated about a topic I’m probably not well-informed about."

    • @matthewingerson

      Proactively and/or remorsefully admitting one's deficiencies and/or faults is a left-wing ideal/practice.
      Not caging, imprisoning, enslaving, crucifying, or murdering people when they proactively and/or remorsefully admit their deficiencies and/or faults is also a left-wing ideal/practice.
      Unfortunately, I know of no such place on earth -- all I know are right-wing sh!teholes that are ruled by wealthy right-wing sh!teheads.

    • @matthewingerson
      @matthewingerson 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You've described all Imperialism. Wealthy-right-wingers impose destitution on a group of working-class people.
      Then, that destitution breeds desperation among the working-class people.
      Then, the wealthy-right-wingers produce propaganda in which they place the blame for the destitution and desperation onto smaller groups of working-class people.
      Then, some of the dumbest members in the larger group of working-class people volunteer to become cops & soldiers(one group of compradors) who subjugate the smaller groups of innocent working-class people turning them into prisoner-slaves or enemy-combatants.
      Then, the wealthy-right-wingers bring in more dumb working-class volunteers(a second group of compradors) to facilitate the extraction(THEFT) of the natural resources of an area.
      Of course, I could go on -- and I'm no expert, so my explanation could use tweaking & expansion. But that's pretty much the corrupt wealthy-right-wing playbook.

    It seems you do not really know the anthropology of the region to answer the question Why South Africa, Malawi and Tanzania have joined to support Tshisekedi? The answer is simple - All the people (tribes) in Southern Africa originated from a place called Katanga and this place is based in DRC. I, myself, I was taught by my grandparents that we came from a place called Katanga in Zaire. Nevertheless, this is not the problem. The problem is the western countries supporting Rwanda... Rwanda owns the proxy group M23 and it is also using soldiers of M23 to create havoc in northern Mozambique in order for Kagame to sell security services to Total Energies. So, we have the problem here and this is: Rwanda (Tutsi), Uganda (Tutsi - Museveni) and the Burundi (Banyamulenge - Tutsi).

    How is it that you blame everyone but the country that’s actually doing the killing? Is it just easy to blame the west (yes they play a huge part) and not Rwanda for its own imperialist actions?? As a Congolese I’m disappointed by this take.

      This platform is for Westerners' audience also. They know it's real when they see their governments actions towards African countries. Keep in mind that they can stop Rwanda if they want

    Sadc is fighting with people who want their rights and that is why they are fighting when they have nothing to lose.
    M23 rebels are majorly formed by eastern congo tribes like Banyamulenge and all Kinyarwanda speaking tribes who have been victims of so much segregation and have been systematically ethnically cleansed just because they speak Kinyarwanda as their language. In the past they've been denationalised and have been called Rwandese yet they ended up under Congo's jurisdiction during the partition of Africa just like other crossboarder tribes. The rebels fighting the government want their people living in poor conditions in refugee camps across greatlakes and beyond to be resettled back in their lands but the government doesn't want. To understand their cause, u need to read more about the agreements they signed with the Congolese government in 2013 but the government didn't implement them thus justifying their fight. They're literally a people who are fighting for their own survival and genuine causes that need to be addressed as soon as possible but the world don't normally hear their side of the story.

      There are no tribe called banyamulenge in Congo. There are banyarwanda living in Congo who came as refugees. Period. Why are you ashamed of your identity? Why you deny your origin? You will never win this war. It’s been 2 years, despite all support from US, UK, EU you are not able to take Goma. Never again banyarwanda in Congo institutions because you do not work for Congo interests. You make sure you protect your motherland interests in Congo.

      What about tutsi refugees who run away from Rwanda revolution in 1959, 196…, 1972….What about tutsi who were brought to Congo to work in mines, agriculture. Why you tutsi don’t like to tell the truth? This is why no Congolese trust you any more.

      @princesdekoush8923 you are a Liar my friend. Who is killing the Tutsi in Congo? Joseph kabila who is a Tutsi was the president of Congo for atleast 17 years. Azarias Ruberwa who is a Tutsi was a Vice president of Congo. Most generals in the Congolese Army are Tutsi more than any other tribe in Congo. Why are you Tutsi so ungrateful? Congo has given the Tutsi(banyamulenge) everything.

      @kalondadavid7420 Congolese like you are in denial. The reality is that you are weak, Even with all the help, you can't defeat those rebels and therefore, you have no chance against Rwanda. Congolese people need to find solution among themselves. Take some responsibility and accountability.
