Reportedly, Nate suffered from High Blood Pressure which is a silent killer. It can cause kidney damage, heart attacks, aneurysms, strokes. Please don't play with hypertension. Getting adequate sleep, drink water, eat healthy and exercise also check that blood pressure. Hope Nate can get better.😢

You are so right and I’m living proof. I was diagnosed with sickle cell at 2,I remember when my parents sat me down a few years later to tell me. My father said you have the disease, but the disease don’t have you so you can be whatever you want and be whatever you want, this won’t change nothing. They let me live my life like a normal kid and didn’t coddle me or treat me differently. I had a Godsister who also had sickle cell, but my aunt coddled her and treated her like a porcelain doll. We were told we wouldn’t live past 30 maybe 40, well I’m 53 and my Godsister died at 40 last summer. I really believe my mindset and trying to prove I am normal and not wanting to be the sick one helped me deal with and accept my illness. Prayers to him and everyone suffering with something, your mindset has a lot to do with your mental, physical and emotional…..

It has been studied and documented that the “Blacks” in America are more stressed and suffer from hypertension collectively more than other Americans today. The way we eat and why we eat the foods we eat have psychological components to them. By that being said we are more susceptible to factors that cause inflammation in the body and thus are multiple times more likely to develop kidney failure. So saying that “Blacks” are 4 times more likely to contract kidney failure is definitely not far fetched.

Thanks for covering this Willie! We've got to take care of ourselves and not leave our well being up to people who profit from our suffering. Prayers for Nate and all those suffering from poor health. Nate's one of my favorite players- seems like a stand up dude.

This is precisely why I haven't played about my health ever since I found out I have high blood pressure. I get my blood work done every six months, and I'm finally at the point where I have my blood pressure under control; thanks for bringing this awareness to us, Uncle Willie.

I always go for walks in my spare time and I'm on my feet a lot on my job,I seldom ever drink and I don't smoke. Those things are always helpful in cutting down blood pressure. However when it comes to what I eat,now that's my vice. I've got to discipline myself like when I was younger to avoid too many sugary drinks and foods.I don't drink that much soda except for 7Up or sprite and after learning I had acid reflux,I've since cut down to no more than two or three cups of coffee a day when before,I'd have twice as many and I don't consume even as close to as many chocolatey products as before.
