Kyrie doesn't actually approach with a plan, he simply watches the defender & counter, that's how i see him, that's genius .
Iman Shumpert said that same thing. He doesn’t have a plan which is crazy! 😂
for sure, he doesn't have a predefined set of moves that he does on you before he drives or shoots, so you never know when he's going to pull up or drive it can be after any move. James Harden for example, that guy is so predictable, 2 or 3 times between the legs and he's stepping back for a 3
@@jordansmith4758 i know exactly what Iman means, i play soccer and i also dont have a plan when i dribble the ball, my moves depend on where the defender is and what he's doing. I totally understand what kyrie is like.
It’s actually how a lot of elite soccer players play. Messi, the goat of soccer, does this a lot. He’ll let the ball roll at his feet without touching it waiting for the defender to make the first move then BOOM he’s gone based off what YOU decided to do. It’s magic

He's hands down my favorite to watch all-time.
Micheal Jordan has to be the number 1 when it comes to special viewing man...That competitive spirit that just would not stop, the self-belief, athleticism, defensive tenacity, the magnetism in the way he did everything on the court was just flat-out enthralling; in my opinion he was and always will be the epitome of what a basketball player could ever possibly be...Imagine if him and Kobe played at their peak in the same era with all else being the same regarding their respective teams and championship pedigrees; that would be the rivalry to end all rivalries.
Kyrie is an amazing player with possibly the greatest basketball skills of all time but he lacks that competitive fire, inherent in the make-ups of players like Jordan and Kobe, to be considered on that level...Still love his game though and wishes he would evoke that level of drive because that's the only formula i can imagine for the Mavericks to come out on top in the upcoming finals agains the Celtics...Go Dallas!!...I like Boston too but i think they'll get several more chances to win it all while the Mavs, most likely, will not.

Great analogy. He plays like a great soccer player in that he will often let the defenders make the first move and the first mistake. Just dribble casually until they come in then you counter off what they do. To do this though the ball must be basically an extension of you.
I'm from Cleveland. The year they won the finals I was instantly a fan. In the finals they kept talking about LeBron and I felt like they would not have won that finals without Kyrie. His game is insane!
Take Lebron off the Cavs. They don’t even make the playoffs(let alone the finals) and instead hit the lottery.

It’s a lot like how a player like Messi plays soccer. Often he won’t even touch the ball just do feints and wait for the defender to awkwardly step in then based off what the defender does he makes his move.
All about getting your opponents weight going the wrong way or off balance.
He’s playing the man across from him when everyone else is just focused on their own game. Crazy stuff.

As a celtics fan, when he signed with Boston, I was going crazy and raved/ranted on how he was going to fill up the basket and score crazy points for us. All my buddies thought I didn't know what I was talking about but I had remembered him in the finals with lebron and the cavs. HE won that championship for them and was unstoppable! Halfway through the season my dudes all thought I was a sports guru with me callin how nasty he was going to be for us because he was taking OVER and strait up winning games singlehandedly for us

@@KevonDaDon Maybe, hard to judge because of the time difference. In Pete's day the ball handling rules were different or more strict. Carry/palming the ball are called far less today....Pete had to keep his hands mostly on top of the ball, it's just a different time. Pete did videos back then on ball handling drills...he was amazing and I'd put him in that class with those guys.

This is no longer up for debate. When you have past, present, and future Hall of Famers saying the exact same thing….its undisputed at this point. MOST SKILLED EVER. Most beautiful game in NBA history. Top 3 combo (PG/SG) guard in history. Kyrie is truly 1 of 1.
