Just got my first beardie last weekend. They're a little over a month old so I am very excited to watch their growth, but it is SO nerve-wracking to jump into owning a beardie with such a small and fragile animal. I want to be extra careful so I've been watching as many videos as I can to make sure I do things right!
@@ely_wannadie She's doing really well! I personally give her calcium-dusted crickets (no d3) and then when she gets salads I put her multivitamin powder on it. She didn't start loving greens til she was around 3-4 months though, so if yours is similar and you're wanting to give it the vitamins on the crickets (or whichever live insect you use) I'm sure it would work as well 😊 I wish you the best of luck with your beardie
Please don’t leave crickets in there with her. Brown crickets are the ones most pet stores sell; they are nocturnal. ... Both types of crickets can bite your bearded dragon on the legs, tail or back when left in the closure with your pet.
We just got one today, so excited, they also have this vitamin dust you can dust the crickets with to give them their essential vitamins, we're so excite to have our Charmander! She is a baby so we really don't know the gender yet but she/he has 2 orange stripes down her back, so cool! Edit: We found out she/he really likes crickets, and not so much meal worms, she ate 6 tiny crickets!
You just have to be patient. My baby bearded dragon is SUPER picky with eating. Even with his protein. He’s had some gas issues, so I’ve been giving him a liquid diet until he starts eating solid foods like CRAZY again. The baby is SO cute btw!
I bought my kids a baby bearded dragon the other day. I got 20 crickets figuring they would last a few days. They were gone 5 minutes after I gave them to him/her. Also I figured the dragon would be flighty or scared. It will sit on your hand calmly. The kids named it blue. I hope it stays healthy and happy in our zoo. We've got a Savannah monitor, turtle, bird, cat, frog, and a dog. The 2 year old Savannah monitor is the boss. He likes people but likes to put the dog and cat in their place. I showed him the dragon in the cage. He didn't care, the dragon's eyes got big like WTF is that monster. I know not to let them get close, monitors will eat any living thing they can fit in their mouth.
This has helped me so much throughout my journey so far with my baby bearded dragon! Thank you so much for all of this wisdom to new beardie owners!!❤️
She is so adorable I did as much research as I could when I got mine I was not that educated about lizards and I saw yours vids it helped me out so much and I can’t wait to watch this baby girls journey
Probably not a juvenile, they require more time and generally are a little more expensive to feed. But many beginners will look into pogona vitticeps. That’s just the general central beardie
Also, if you want to feed them fruit. More specifically, strawberries. They can really only have them once a month. And if they’re a baby cut them in very small pieces so they don’t choke
I soo jealous that she ate. I adopted a dragon from the local pet shop and it will only eat 1-2 feeders a day , if at all. I’ll try the trick with wetting veggies.
please keep us updated on the growth of this beautiful girl. Even if you feel exhausted YouTubing, don't worry about making some crazy script for your video just give us some highlights of her growth and we would be more than appreciative. Thank you!!
Just a tip my brotha, hatchling beardies 7 out of 10 times will not eat or go after food or greens till on and after the 3rd day out of the egg so being 2 days old like you said she’s doing perfect, and is on her way doing great bc they do start out slow within the first few days then they take off like a rocket and will eat you out of food and home lol
Thanks for the video. I’m a new baby beardie owner. I like the concept of the paper; how often do you change the paper?. Right now it has one of those eco green rugs. What do you think of those and how often should I take out and clean. Also, I noticed the heat lamp gives off a smell. Is that normal. Thanks
I bought my bearded dragon as soon as she could be bought and she grew up so quickly but make sure you keep an eye on them because if they run somewhere it might take a long time to get them
I have a question about the crickets I am totally fine with feeding the dragon crickets but I won’t be able to go to the store everyday to buy more crickets. Is there a way to keep the crickets and feed them or preserve themBecause my mom said the dragon will need to eat them while they’re alive
Get a plastic container, put cardboard egg cartons (or carton depending on size of container) feed them cheerios, carrots, orange pieces and banana pieces and to make sure they're hydrated(the orange slices and carrots should hydrate them but you can't always be sur) mist one corner of the container once a week. Take out uneaten food at least once a week at most every 24 hours. I'm raising a cricket colony and this is what worked for me. Hope it helps!
Oh also replace egg cartons/remove cricket molts once a month and remove dead crickets when you see them, adult crickets don't live long even in the wild so don't worry if you find dead ones regularly
My son jus T got a baby. And he is almost as small as she is..im In love with your little girl and the compation you have for her. With y Ou as her caregiver she will surely thrive.
I’ve noticed that every baby dragon (also majority of young dragons) I’ve raised never wanted anything to do with veggies but loved small insects instead. I wondered if that was because they needed as much protein as possible to grow through their adolescent stages or if I just got ones that just didn’t like veggies lol? They seemed to love baby crickets the most. Eventually after about a year they’d end up warming up to them and I give them a mixed diet but still always prefer the insects before they went to their veggie bowl. Maybe it’s just because they don’t have to chase it though lol?
It’s natural in the begging as babies they eat I think 80 90 % insects then as adults 80 90% veggies and less of the insects not sure if that’s facts but what I read on it
Hey Elion. Id hold off on the veggies and focus on eating the crickets for now. Mine didnt eat veggies at all (and I always provided them free choice anyways) and then once he got a little bigger he decided he wanted them.
I'm so glad I saw this. I thought she was eating the crickets but as it turns out I went to take her hide out Rock out and there were tons of crickets hiding under there.
i have a bearded dragon. i saved him from a bird circling him. it didn’t seem he could actually survive in the wild and he was so so skinny. i don’t even know the gender but “his” name is joey hehe
just got my a new baby beard...his name Krispy....i found a lil wolf spider in my apt in threw it in his tank but he avoiding it n the spider trying to get out...he bout 5 month...what do i do?
Thank you so much for this video! I’m going to get a baby bearded dragon next week! My family has been deciding for a while and they finally said yes!!
So my family has a bearded dragon and he's 5 months old. He's super tiny and isn't growing. Can you tell me some things to maybe help him grow? (His brother is the same age and WAY bigger)
Vanessa Cruz Dubias are a good staple because of all the nutrients in them. It’s good to mix it up with any of the other types of feeders as well. At 5 months it would also be good to introduce veggies. Try starting with dandelion greens if you haven’t already
last at petsmart told me young ones shouldn’t have sand in their tank & that the light should be a minimum of 3 inches from the highest point in their cage
This is cruelty... ...to me, because I can’t contain my excitement over how damn cute she is and I’m afraid my heart is going to explode 😂 (They had me in the first half, not gonna lie.)
So I have a heat pad for my baby and it’s on the side of my tank it’s on all the time.. should I turn on my red heat lamp at night with the heat pad or get rid of one?
I have a juvenile let's call them baby I just got then (1) today and isn't eating which is understandable. This anyone in jail wouldn't eat the first day but when they start eating crickets what should I give as a treat for "finishing"
I just got a baby bearded dragon yesterday and I am so in love lol. I have been watching TH-cam videos and reading non stop on how to care for him and I think I have good knowledge and I will keep learning more and more from your videos ☺️ but I can't get him to eat any greens yet. Yesterday when we got her home and in her new tank my husband gave him to many crickets but accident I think it was to many anyway lol it was 15 or 20 and he ate almost all of them. Should I still give him crickets today or just keep trying the greens?

How’s your beardie doing? I got mine last week and I think I’m most scared of metabolic bone disease from lack of calcium 😬

‘Very slightly’ 😂 so precise lol
When he said that I was like huh? 🤣🤣😂😂

Kinnie’s Reptiles maybe they have a stunted growth problem that could happen to bearded dragons
