I have the 2013 version. I also have the black/red pair with the ankle straps. I think they'll always change fine details to distinguish between each model, such as the air holes on the toe box. I wish they would make the midsole curvy like the OG & use the right leathers.

the 2016s might have "better" leather, but i dont like the tumbled look. I def prefer the 2013s, plus the shape is better. and yes, i got the 2016s as well :)
Jordan did wear those Nike Air Ship in white and Red to match the colors what other NBA players were wearing, but the original black and red ships are yet to be discovered. The only thing to kinda resemble it is the rare air ones released last year.
Jordan did wear "banned" shoes but revolutionized what players can wear today!

To me the 1's are so far from every other Air Jordan and so similar to Nike shoes at the time I don't even consider wearing them.
Furthermore I feel this is the one and only Air Jordan you could price for a lot cheaper as a homage to the fans/collectors and still profit a lot for the company.

couldn't agree more about the tumbled leather, imo that should just stay on jordan 4's and not come to 1's.
however I prefer the shape of the 2013 compared to the others, just so perfect. really need to pick up another pair sometime soon :)

+Bryce I don't count it. The jumpmans bother me. These all have Nike branding so I tried to stay true to what we can expect.
I remember going to Ross as a kid in 94-95 and they had Jordan 2s in the OG white-red-black colorway. I think they went to outlets and such because there wasn't really a collector and hypebeast market at that time. Not just that but MJ had retired and it wasn't certain what was going to happen with his career. I remember in 1992, we clowned some kid named George in second grade cuz he came to school wearing a VNDS pair of Black Cement 3s; all because they weren't the latest pair. The Retro and hypebeast market was not even a thought in people's minds at that point. Very few preserved their shoes at that time.
+Andres Rodriguez agreed. In 95 I was beating kicks but I did make sure to double up when I could so I could have a fresh pair later. Glad I did that.
I've been saying this that the Nike air ship black & red was the real banned sneakers. not the 1's. Nike played it smart tho for using the 1's as a marketing tool to sell.
My favorite release was the '01 the leather on those was too damn perfect even tho the shape of them were a midtop
Nice shoes but they were rally banned in 84 it wasn't just a marketing campaign, the NBA didn't let him wear them because of the colors and then they came out with the Chicagos

+MJO23DAN no problem at all I'm a big fan of your collection and vids I've had the dmp breds and I still have my 2013 pair I paid rape for from flight club lol (bred 1's are my favorite sneaker) I always hear people crap on the 2013 quality but I'm very pleased with it and I'm glad u said they hit it on the money with that pair !

There are 7 OG Metallic High colorways. Eight if you count the Metallic 1 Navy Low.

I have the 2013 pair, but I'll definitely be trying to at least one pair of the '16s since I've been wearing them damn near since release so my heel is getting a bit worn down.
I'd rather them have used smooth leather across the board with the same quality as most of the remastered Is, but it's not a deal breaker for me. That mold is what I'm really craving since the '94 version of the shoe is my favorite.

I noticed on your og Chicago's you loosened the laces and the shoe has kept incredibly well. my issue is a lot of people keep the laces tight which IMO completely distorts the shoe and leather. wouldn't your og breds do the same over time due to the tighter lacing?

I HATE the latest iteration. The '94 is my model shape wise. The OG is cool for nostalgic purposes but look too much like the Team Convention. Not a bad thing because the Team Convention is a DOPE shoe.
No 2009 DMP version? I know it has a Jumpman on it but still a OG high version

Which Jordan 1?
The remastered mold is heavily inspired by the '94 version of the Jordan I, so yeah, if you're used to the ones from '01-'14 like most of us are; it's higher.

+lee turner "Banned" is a nickname. Black/Red is a colorway. It's very easy for people to misunderstand. It's essentially the Black/Red 1 (2016).
to me the ships and the aj 1 are the same shoe except the ships dont have the wings on the side

I guess Jordan brand named em the banned as it still violated the rules of not having any white on em and standing out. tho if you take the top part of the shoe where the wings are and toebox and make em red... there u go. original banned from the 85 preseason.

You're the first that I heard had my same thoughts about why the banned 2011 went to outlet even if they were so nice..they had a major wrong detail printed all over and even if they're still trying to sell us the banned /Jordan 1 story now they couldn't put out a shoe with the wrong year on

Mjo which one is your favorite and why
Currently the 2016 has become a quick favorite. I do appreciate the shape and cut of the OG and not far from that the 1994. In terms of comfort, the 2001 was the best in that department and I would rank the 2013 last. It's really your personal preference but that's mine currently.
Cool I picked up the 2016 off a trade for the 2017 royals and I love the leather!

+Ebonezer Shoes I wish the OG was DS but I'd go 94, 85, 01, 11 then 13. 94 has a sleeker toe which I like while still paying homage to the OG cut. In terms of quality, the 2011 is the best out the box. The least probably the 2013.
I really wntd da Dec 2013 pair but da infrared labs dropped a few days after da bred 1s...da labs kinda went under da radar due 2 da hype over da bred 1s so I jumped on da labs instead...ima try my luck w/these again come September tho

I didn't count them because no Nike Air branding on them. The ones you see in the video are the true pairs that have Nike Air branding.

Fuck the tumbled leather tbh. The genuine, consistent textured leather that all the recent 1 releases have are pretty amazing. My personal favorites being the Shattered Backboards and LAs(call me a hypebeast 😂😂). The tumbled breds... Ugh. Its such a change. We were looking forward to the same plush leather on those but with the banned X and everything and then they fuck us over with the tumbled leather.
