REally enjoy this, I relish the fact that we can target these fish when we can, I am looking forward to fishing near shore on the lake for pike sometime. any new content for spring pike would be welcome. theres a lot of value in what you guys are doing.

You're killing a lot of fish by holding them straight up by the head like that. They will be dead within 72 hours.

That's a 45 incher! That's a 40 incher all day. Well, maybe a 38 incher... That's why you don't call fish size until they're on a measuring board. That 18-19 pounder is literally a 12 pounder. People have no idea how massive a true 20 pound pike is- needs to be WELL over 40 inches, AND thick. These fish are neither. Fish care starts now? You lifted every fish vertically by the head. You just cut every larger fish's survival chance by half. The fish thrashes one time and it's 100% dead. Might as well throw it on the smoker at that point. And note the blood dripping off the anal fin- you need to lose the crappy large mesh net with zero flat area in the bottom, or better yet, don't net them at all. There's a reason why most trophy pike lodges don't allow their guides to use nets (I used to guide on the English River). This is an older video, so I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you know better by now.

The big females (males won’t reach 40 inches) will only hang out in the shallows to recover from spawning in 43-48 degree water. 50-55 they start to move off to the first breaks like you are experiencing here. 60 degree plus and they begin to move to their summer haunts because they cannot tolerate warm water. They make cradles for them for a reason to support their body weight evenly and it hurts them when they hang. Nice fish though and good job.

Love this episode! I am catching a fair amount of pike right now in Superior on white and white/chartreuse spinnerbaits in the bays. Same concept.

Also....keep using the drone for shots--they are amazing! Helps get an idea of your boat position, current, wind, etc. Loved being able to see the spinnerbait coming across in the clear water---waiting for a hit!

Great video. I'm a little concerned about these pike, highly concentrated at this time of year. I sure hope other anglers release them like you guys do. It would be easy to damage the population by killing fish when they are sucked into an area like this.

Every fish we caught was released and swam away healthy. Wasn't the case for shore fishermen who proceeded to fill up a large cooler in a matter of 45 minutes. Legal? yes. Ethical? im sure there are many various viewpoints. From a conservation standpoint, yes it is concerning when catch and release isn't practiced and there are many more bites/species of fish/locations where this same scenario plays out over and over again.

@@SuperiorAngling I hope you noticed I wasn't criticizing you for your careful catch and release of these big pike. I was expressing concern that other anglers might exploit these fish and not be so respectful. I speak from bitter experience.
