    I use number 4 spoons and sometimes bigger for pike and they always work well, ive caught as small as 14 inches on a number 4, DEFINITELY not too big...

    I love the spoon action brother!! Red/White is the one I have always had the most luck with around here even though I don’t fish spoons too much. Most of the places I fish I would loose more spoons then it would be worth catching because of all of the under water snags and debris, but I do love when I get a chance to use them though. They never disappoint!! Great Video Brother And Such Awesome Pike Action!!🎣🎣🔥🔥

    The Orange/ brass color is one of my top producers, as well as the chrome/ blue. Basically if you've got one in yellow, orange, and some sort of natural color... your pretty much set. I've fished Len Thompsons from Michigan to Alaska, everything from panfish to Salmon, and theres not much they wont catch. Taking a few down to Mexico next week, we'll see how they do down there.

    • @SaskFisher

    • @bushleague3472
      @bushleague3472 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SaskFisher Yeah, I fish the 6 in streams and the 7 in lakes for trout. I caught some big Cutthroats in BC last summer, bombing the 1/4 oz size way out from shore and letting it sink something like 40' deep, then bringing it back along the bottom. I usually use that size through the ice for walleye... is there anything they cant do?

    I think the number one's are actually a very good size for pike. I like to target the 4 to 10 pounders. It cuts down on catching the babies which distracts from what I really want to do. There's nothing like a good fight with a big pike.

    Have you ever thought about swapping the trebles for circles? It seems like a crazy idea, but my hookups stay put on Northerns with circles. Unless I suffer a line break, I simply don’t lose them. It’s like a cheat code. And I’ve pulled in 36”+ pike on 10lbs test, running circles on my lures, no problem. You don’t have to do much, the fish damned near set themselves. 9/10 hookups are perfectly in the corner of the mouth. But with J’s or trebles, they’re all over the place.
    And because they stay on, you’re not in a mad scramble to try to land them. You can take your time, and let them exhaust themselves. Just give ‘em some decent drag, and work em in slow and smooth.

    • @SaskFisher
      @SaskFisher  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very interesting but I have no knowledge or never used the circle hook. I just googled a picture of them. They look nuts! Thats a new one for me! Where are you from?

    • @JoannaJedrzejczyksForehead
      @JoannaJedrzejczyksForehead 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SaskFisher North Dakota.
      With circles, I go for non-offset, with a short shank.
      The non-offset lets the hook slide right to the corner of the mouth, and the short shank lets it hook-up easier, and gives the fish less leverage to thrash it’s way off the hook.

    We used to call the orange with black spots the potato bug, along with the red and white, the yellow red five of diamonds the hot spoon patterns. I always preferred the Len Thompson spoons as the best quality although they are more expensive. These patterns are guaranteed to catch pike and walleye will hit on them to sometimes.

      For being made in Alberta, rather than China, out of top notch materials I think their price is pretty reasonable. Most other premium brand name spoons actually cost more, most are now produced in Asia and have lower quality components. Keeping a Len Thompson where the Walleye are does require some operator input, but once you figure it out walleye will bite a LT about as well as anything else.

    • @IronAxeGaming1
      @IronAxeGaming1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @bushleague3472 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IronAxeGaming1 I've had the most luck with walleye on the 5D, but they'll bite any color if you can keep it in their face. I have quite a few LT's that I've dug out of the lake that have no paint and are badly tarnished. I just change the hooks and put industrial reflective tape on them... they catch plenty of walleye that way too!

    Where's the huge northern pike. Try using the big number 5s bigger lures = bigger fish

    You gotta tighten your drag man. That’s why you keep loosing fish.
    When you reel in when you hear that drag nose, you aren’t bringing in line. But you are twisting your line.
    Tighten your drag dude.

      Lol thanks! Thats just actually simple masking out and adding 3 clips into one. Its really not to hard. The hardest is just "timing" what your saying lol
