ILAYARAJA gave importance and prominence to CHORUS concept ("BGM voice mukkiyathuvam" whatever that meant!). Nirmala, Vaishnavi, Pavitra were some of the regulars. Kindly STOP making such blind statements owing to bias, or pipe-vision, or to gain attention. Nobody knew Ganga etc. existed (Kannaalane song in the cassette does NOT CREDIT anybody except Chitra!!! - so much for "Arr credits even a mosquito on his studio wall!) until social media era, thanks to umpteen Television and TH-cam channels. And those "Indha songs ellaam naanga dhaan paadinom" group on Vijay TV's Neeya Naana should understand that the quality of MUSIC is VERY IMPORTANT for longevity and timelessness of songs. If songs are mere fads, singers will be forgotten. JENCY has sung only 32 songs in her career after which she chose to take up teaching as career, whereas CHITRA listened to Ilayaraja's advice to record Sindhu Bairavi songs which fetched her National awards. Jency is widely known and loved as a singer till now because of the QUALITY of the songs she was given by Ilayaraja (30 songs, she sang ONLY for IR). Similarly, MITALI is remembered for Yamunai aatrile. Also, like Karthik Raja mentioned in that program, how fast a singer grasps is important too. Another reason: Even great songs like Enakku piditha paadal and Thendral vandhu theendum bodhu went unappreciated those days because of Cable TV's nonstop cacophony. Remember, Arr did NOT use Ganga as "lead" singer! Even his so-called "introductions" were merely one-film singers and only used like disposables. His aim was profitability due to using "fresh" voices (trending hits, in today's parlance). And if you are just "one" of the talents, there is no point in feeling disappointed because there are hundreds of them as talented as Ganga.

Acadummy awards are NOT awarded for being the Genius in a field. ANY AWARD (local Mirchi awards or "Oscars") is only limited to choosing between 5 nominations for which the process requires time, money, promotion, influence, politics and heavy lobbying. Juries NEVER go "hunting" for talents! They simply HAVE TO pick one from the few on their table. Nobody bothered giving awards to Asian Cinema / artists (or even European) before the millennium. All this sudden outpour of "appreciation" is to promote Hollywood movies in the respective markets; include beauty pageants in that list.
