    As public universiti student in Malaysia, our syllabus are in both english and malay, depending on what subject it is. The lectures will be done in either english or malay(yes, even if the syllabus are in english), depending on the lecturer's preference or student's needs.

    I won't say that one of the sultans is "elected" to be a King (Yang Di-Pertuan Agong), there is actually a sequence of rotation (a cycle) followed by them to take that throne/duty for every 5 years.
    1. Negeri Sembilan - Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan
    2. Sultan of Selangor
    3. Raja of Perlis
    4. Sultan of Terengganu
    5. Sultan of Kedah
    6. Sultan of Kelantan (Current)

    7. Sultan of Pahang
    8. Sultan of Johor
    9. Sultan of Perak

    Wow Melvin I like the Malaysian System to have more than one King. Why doesn´t the USA have such one - it would certanly help to avoid a president such as Trump. Let me tell you a thing you may not know about Germany. We have a dialect in the south west part of the country which makes you able to build a whole phrase with only three or four letters. Can you imagine ? Ok I tell you: Mlä. Thats one phrase. Here another one: Chni ? (it is a question sentence). So what could it mean? Ok I have to tell you this can only be understood in the Southwest part of Germany (Rheinland-Pfalz + Saarland and a small part of Hessen). The Bavarian (München) may not know. Ok, here the resolution: " Mlä " means > come here close to me < in german: " komm einmal her ". " Chni " means > where you going < (question sentence) in german: " wo gehst du hin ? " This dialect is Pfälzisch (palatinate).

    • @Ackuro612
      @Ackuro612 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow thats quite complicated but at least interesting.

    • @TheForkingTomatoes
      @TheForkingTomatoes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, but it is 1 "king" per state, not country; that's why the complicated system, but interesting fact!
      Thanks so much for watching!
      Oh man I love the dialects here in Germany, I should find someone who speaks Pfälzisch! :D
      My favourite so far is Badisch, because it sounds like singing. :)

      To say Agong(King) has no power is kind of false, Prime Minister has to be appointed by Agong to be in power. High level policies still need Agong approval, if they don't see fit, adjustment will be needed for it to pass these policies.

    Sorry need to clarify, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia is chosen from rotation between Sultan(Yang di-Pertuan Besar/Raja) of the 9 states(not election) within the Majlis Raja-Raja(Conference of Rulers).

    • @TheForkingTomatoes
      @TheForkingTomatoes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the clarification! You are not wrong, but the term used was still election. Although it is by rotation, the Rulers still voted with secret ballots when selecting the next Agong - it's like an election with many pre-requisites and conditions. :)
      Thanks for watching! :D

    Indonesia still has hereditary head of governments under Indonesia's sovereignty. Special Region of Yogyakarta was mandated for their role in Indonesia's independence struggle that the province would have hereditary governor and vice-governor, positions to be held respectively by a reigning Hamengkubuwono, Sultan of Yogyakarta, and a reigning Paku Alam, Prince/Duke of Pakualaman.

    I heard my mom said that each sultan take turns at being agong and the king does only about 10% of the work needed in Malaysia and leave the rest to the goverment

    • @sixsense0301

      Other 90% of Agong work is silently ongoing process to protect the nation. In National History books, Agong well known as the one who protect nation in terms of religion & culture. Other works have been done by PM & politicians.
      which means, when the politician act recklessly or refused to follow Malaysian constitution, Agong have full power to defer their position.
      Agong & Sultans abide by swear to Oneness of GOD to protect Malaysians from harm & danger. All of 9 Sultans bloodliness are purely descendants of Prophet Muhammad -peace be upon Him. Which entitled them pure, sacred.
      Therefore...Agong does not interefere directly in administration process to keep them sacred from negative or abusive accusation from citizens that simply don't understand their royalty purpose. If the Royals = misconduct or malpractice, they shall be advise or punish in special private court within the 9 Sultanate.
      Let the politician alone mingle daily challenge, receive complaints from citizen , as the Agong, Sultans & Royal remain sacred existance.
      I hope you can improve your knowledge in Malaysia Sultanate & constitution before boldly comment about it.
      Respect, Relax & Rational
