    Need a simple intro to LIN bus? In this video tutorial we introduce the Local Interconnect Network (LIN) basics incl. LIN vs. CAN, how LIN works and the six LIN frame types.
    LIN bus is a supplement to CAN bus. It provides lower performance and reliability - but also lower costs. As a result, LIN clusters are often used in applications that are not safety critical - like window wipers, airconditions etc.
    LIN clusters consist of 1 master and up to 16 slave nodes. It is single-wire with 1-20 kbit/s and suppports error detection, checksums and configuration - as well as sleep-mode and wakeup.
    In LIN systems, a LIN master loops through slave nodes, sending a request for information (polling) and each slave responds accordingly with up to 8 bytes of data. Frame types include unconditional, event triggers, sporadic, diagnostic, user defined and reserved frames.

    ABOUT CSS ELECTRONICS
    At CSS Electronics we specialize in simple-to-use, pro specs and interoperable CAN bus data loggers - like the CANedge and CLX000 series. The devices let you record raw data from e.g. cars, trucks, industrial machinery and other CAN based applications onto an 8-32 GB SD card. The devices are interoperable, meaning you can process the data in your favorite existing software - or use our 100% free and open source software/API tools.

      Hi Mayur, thanks - can you elaborate on what sub topics you'd like to see in such a video?

      I am expecting a video which will elaborate data transmission for CAN as well as LIN in a most interesting way and also make it little more deeper than just it in a generalized way. Your graphics and video editing is good and I am expecting little more from you.

    what is a sent signal in the lin bus system?

  • @jeffescortlx
    @jeffescortlx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I understand correctly you wont actually find a LIN connection at the OBD 2 port? LIN is just used between module to module communication and some modules translate the BUS to LIN?

    • @martinfalch4648
      @martinfalch4648 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll typically find the LIN clusters separately, not via the OBD2 connector - for example you can find some videos on youtube showing an analysis of the LIN cluster in a side mirror.

      @@martinfalch4648 thank you for the explanation. Can the LIN network be accessed at all from the OBD bus connection? Is it up to a individual module to translate? Thank you for your time. I'm trying to figure out how to access what I believe are LIN options in a Chrysler. As a Instument cluster repair techinition I need to trigger the gauge/lamp test options while on the bench. I'm finding very little information and tools to achieve this.

      @@jeffescortlx I believe your access to the LIN network will depend on the "master" modules functions. Assuming the car's main ECU acts as the master for all the LIN slave nodes in the car, it'll depend what bi-directional functions they allow and to what nodes. I think you could manually trigger things by tapping into the LIN wiring to a particular module but you'd need to know what signal to send to the node. Check out this LIN bus decoder: th-cam.com/video/tu8Ow6fJm1g/w-d-xo.html

    To your knowledge , do you think Lin /Can bus will still be widely used if EV became the dominant in the market

      CAN Bus is critical for EVs

      Absolutely. VWs Traton Group (MAN, Scania, VW HD South America, Navistar.) has based its future HD vehicle communications structure on multiple CAN and LIN and a central vehicle manager, with ethernet for remote data upload. That structure us intended for EV and ICE vehicles.

    you said 0x55 in binary is "01 01 01" that's if you meant it right to left, if you meant the other way around "10 10 10" still both would be considered incorrect! it should be " 101 0101"
