  • The Local Interconnect Network (LIN) is used for communication between components in vehicles. This tutorial shows the basis of what LIN really is and illustrates the architecture of the LIN bus system, the basic structure of the network, the protocol and some typical examples. Additionally it shows solutions for specific systems of LIN-based switch modules.
    This movie was unveiled during the 2008 Electronica trade fair in Munich, Germany.

    The first part was very well explained, but the software part was presented a bit too quickly. Perhaps if it was explained a bit slower, with examples of application, it would be more informative. However, overall it was quite educational. Thank you!

    Good picture represent 👍. Databyte length N. What is the max?

      @Melexis_Sensors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LIN has a max data frame length of 8-byte usable data.

    is the Lin Bus a medium speed or low speed bus

    • @Melexis_Sensors
      @Melexis_Sensors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really depends on what perspective you come from. LIN has a 20k baud maximum speed. In regards to automotive bus systems this is a lower end; therefore we would call it low speed.

    How did you decide that only 16 slaves can be connected on a Lin Bus?

    • @Melexis_Sensors
      @Melexis_Sensors  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This value is defined within the LIN specification based on the overall bus load. With the defined bus load (capacitive 10 nF and resistive 500 Ohm) the full LIN system together with the wiring of 70 m can support 18 members = 1 master and 17 slaves. This is only an example. If, for example, the wiring is shorter or other parameters within the defined limits are optimized for a special application case then also more slaves are possible. Those cases must be defined from the OEM at system level.

    OK so....a horn really needs to not be LIN controlled. Really.
