Installed a NEW (NOT Re-man) alternator and new battery....check the voltage at the battery as the engine is running i get 11.7 volts, BUT the battery light doesn't come on. If the voltage at the battery isn't over 13 or so shouldn't the battery light come on? I have no faults either, no check engine light on.
The resistor @22:36 is a current limiting resistor to prevent the open or voltage drop in the output circuit from getting massive current flow thru the Red and Violet and destroying the computer.. there is no current flowing thru the sense circuit.. so the voltage on the output stud and the sense stud should be equal all the time. this updated system takes care of an earlier caravan body style failure where the pair of battery cables at number 9 on your chart were poorly crimped by the manufacturer. causing a voltage drop that when the engine was running and the power siding or power rear door was used.. the voltage drop across the loose crimp at the positive battery cable connection set up the system in a surge that would max field the alternator for a second. then completely shut the charging system down.. this caused the lights in the car to get crazy bright then go dark again and again until the engine was shut off and restarted. dealer techs replaced the alternator. the TIPM or IPM on the 2004 models. the PCM. the Battery.. the harness. . but not the positive battery cable is seems.. $1,200 to $1,400 bill and it still did not fix the car.. i came up with this voltage drop test years before.. and on the caravans when you could get the system into the delayed feedback loop. imgur link to the voltage drop test i.imgur.com/kviX0VQ.jpg. where the power surged.. it was crazy on tests 1 but 5 and 6 went all over the place .. thank you for the description of the newer PWM system. now i have to watch your second video to see what had failed..

Hello Pete, this is Oren Miller. My wife and I bought this 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan from the dealership a month ago. I have been driven for about 4,000 miles on it. The last stop was after completed three batches of shopping for Instacart. I had pulled up to the tire shop and they told me to move the van to another lane. So I tried to turn the fob but it cranked but won't start. So I tried like 3 times and it would be cranked like it was trying to start but slow to stop. I had it towed to my home. The next morning, I went out to see if I can get it started. Nothing. Lights and everything even the radio worked but won't crank nor started. I used my car scanner to see what it said. The light panel showed the red lightning emblem and engine emblem. The scanner showed code error "p0202" any idea what could be?
E-money23 D. Need more information ℹ️ about the symptoms! For example there is any repairs before or after the problem started... there is any light on in the instrument panel or message on the message center!? There is any DTC diagnostic trouble code in memory!
@@PeteSambolin the only symptom was a code that said a shorted brake plunger for the brake lights. I dont remeber the code but i changed that part with part from dealer and code went away. But our 2010 dodge grand caravan dashboard would start flashing when coming to a stop and the van would turn off no power and stop running. Now its gotten to the point where we dont need to come to a complete stop and the van will turn off completely and even keep the key stuck to where we cant remove it. We noticed in the summer time for some reason it happens more often,and with the ac on it will have flashing lights n turn off. Usually we wiggle the ground n everything turns on . I have cleaned the terminals n also changed a lot of rusty looking fuses.
E-money23 D. Okay look like you have a bad ALT take it too any Advance Auto Parts store and ask for a full battery check including with the AMP clamp!!!
E-money23 D. You can also charge the battery 🔋 and do this test! Disconnect the connector on back of ALT and put the charged battery and see if the lights on the instrument cluster stop 🛑 flashing...
