      The torque wrench’s that Honda supplies don’t have to be set every time. The yellow torque wrench is permanently set at 30lb-ft for drain plug. It also prevents some one from over tightening the drain plug. Also this guy does not know how to use the torque wrench properly, you should only let the wrench click once. Pulling the wrench multiple times over tightens to increases the torque applied to the fastener.

    While inspecting things are important, you need to understand that what they are really doing is looking for things they can fix and overcharge you on. For example, that engine air filter in the beginning is simple to replace by unclipping some clips and buying a new one if dirty. A lot of dealerships will take advantage of customers not knowing what an engine filter is or how easy it is to replace it and will charge $50-$100 sometimes for a filter which would cost your around $19.95 at most and a couple minutes of your time to replace. Even better, buy a reusable K&N engine air filter and you will save even more money over time.

    • @garrettstevensen2467
      @garrettstevensen2467 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree 99% of everything what you said, except for the K&N air filter. OEM paper filters have very fine particulate filtration. Yes, the K&N does increase air flow, at the expense of dirty/harmful/dusty air entering the engine, acting like sandpaper.

      Yeah, especially the garbage Acura dealership I took my 2001 TL to get my 02 sensor replaced. They were trying to rip me off of a tie rod, cv joint, and lied to me about my inspection sticker and the frame being rotted. The worst part is that the mechanic cut one of my exhaust hangers off in order to have my flex pipe separate so he can do more work on my car and get more money out of me. Even independent and franchise shops can rip you off. But the irony is, the Acura dealer was the only dealership that was trying to rip me off.

It still has a coating of oil on every part in the engine. It would take many days, possibly weeks for that oil film to fully dry and leave internal parts unprotected. Even if it did dry you think the 1 second it takes for the oil filter to fill affects anything? You leave a comment thinking you know more than a mechanic but you don't know shit. The toyota 2.2 liter engine they used for 30 years is considered one of the most reliable engines ever produced and the oil filter is screwed on from the top, therefore inpossible to 'prime'. Same with every subaru engine.

Really, a few wrenches, sockets, ratchet, torque wrench....really a lot of tools.Just a BS video to get you to use a Honda dealer and give them money you can save by doing all yourself. And you can LEGALLY change your own oil and filter.

    just a note if this is a honda dealer why use an air gun on the wheels if you check the pack your locking wheel nuts comes in it shows never to use guns on them apart from that great work

      Indeed you can see the wheels are attached with cosmetic lug nuts as well as a locking nut. An impact tool should never be used on these. It damages their appearance and can damage the chrome plating.

They never try to fool me and make me pay for extra stuffs. From my side, I am quite knowledgeable about vehicles, so I know what they are talking about. I go to the dealer to save my time and for the records. There are plenty of discounts online.

    The reason why you should go to your Honda dealer is because you need to support a slew of people who need your hard earned dollars to make a living. Why should you save money and take care of your kids, when you can spend money and support your local car dealership! The guys spoke about everything but... the oil change. I guess, there is not a whole lot to changing the oil, so he wraps up his 10 minutes job with 30 minutes worth of smoke screen. 5000 miles until the next oil change? really! with synthetic oil you can go eight month without an oil change.

    What he did is reset the "maintenance minder" light, not the "oil" light. He said it almost right the first time, "the maintenance light." There is a red oil light in addition to the yellow maintenance minder light. It indicates if the oil pressure is low, and may indicate if the level is low. It is not something that can be "reset." "This car has no power steering; it has electric power steering." Maybe he meant that the car has no power steering FLUID? If the car has any disk brakes, one does NOT want to see the brake fluid reservoir filled all the way up, unless the brake pads are at new thickness. As the pads wear, as they have in this car, the fluid level goes down. If with the pads worn, the reservoir is topped up, then when new pads are installed, the reservoir will overflow. Very messy. Cars are designed so that as the pads wear all the way down, there will still be plenty of fluid in the reservoir. It will be above the minimum line, as well as below the maximum line. Tire tread depth should be measured on several points on each tire, several points along the width, several points around the circumference. In addition to tread depth, they should be inspected for evenness of wear. If any tires shows uneven wear, further diagnosis is necessary to see if it indicates a need for balancing, wheel alignment, or replacement of suspension parts such as ball joints or tie rod ends.

    At 1:52, Peter Griffin (I mean, Steven) allows the end of the air hose to smack the wheel. Around 4:00, he says they'll do "another torque with a manual torque wrench". By then, it's too late because the lug nuts have most likely been inconsistently and excessively torqued following the use of the "torque sticks" that are seen lying on the workbench as part of the "special Honda tool assortment".

    I own a 2013 CRV and take it to the dealership where I bought it for oil changes. Why? Because every other garage I checked with charges at least $40 for full synthetic oil change (here in Ohio) and usually more than that (one major chain wanted $60!). The delearship charges $40, and they have a nice waiting room with TV and snacks. They haven't tried to sell me anything else. What's not to like? I used to do minor auto service myself, but I am older now and don't want to lay on the ground anymore. Also, a 5 gallon jug of the oil is about $30 and the oil filter another $6-7, so it is almost as cheap to let the delearship do it. Oh . . And I follow the mileage and car prompts for oil changes, and for me it is only twice per year. I am happy!

    • @Goblinchief123
      @Goblinchief123 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      5 Gallons of Synthetic for $30? Thats damn cheap. Roughly 5 Oil changes for $65 with an average of $7 for oil filter. At $40 a pop at the dealer that'd be $200 which is a $135 savings over 50k at the standard oil change interval from Honda. Where do you buy 5 gallons off Synthetic for $30?

    the video. I have a question. Does it happen sometimes to you when you start driving after your car was parked for about 5 to 7 hours or overnight you start breaking slightly and your car breakers abroptly and hard? It happens on my Honda hrv 2019 and the car has only 700 miles! But then after driving 5 minutes more the car breakers normally softly and gently!

    • @aurvaroy6670
      @aurvaroy6670 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If that's the case, that means you're brakes are new. When you have new brakes, you don't have to press the pedal as hard to make it stop. And since you have 700 miles on your SUV, I'm assuming your SUV is brand new. New cars obviously have new brakes.

    First of all you need 4.5 q of oil not 5. Second you don't need an oil change sticker for 5k miles because depending on how you drive and where, the oil change might be needed anywhere from 5k to 10k. I am at 6k and my dashboard says I got 10% of oil life left. So you could potentially waste a lot of $ by doing the oil change too often. Honda put that oil change indicator in the dash for a reason. Also when you install a. Ew oil filter you need to lubricate de filter gasket. The guy in the video did it, but didn't say it need to be done. Poorly informative video at best

    • @bartman464

      I'm curious because my 2013 civic shows 50% after almost 5000 miles, and it showed 50% even before going on a 440 mile long road trip. The oil looks pretty dark so I might go get it changed soon but i just hope that meter isn't wrong...

    • @mmm2001
      @mmm2001 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steven s it depends a lot on how and here u drive. In town and stop and go wears out the oil 2 times more than regular driving. So instead of the 10k miles interval for the oil change it goes down to 5k or so like in my case. Actually the mileage at 5% for me was 5200 miles. That's when I changed the oil. You don't need to change your oil at 50%. The car's computer calculates the right interval for the oil change. The oil looks dark after just a few hundred miles. So that's not the right way to tell when the oil change is needed. Just go by the dashboard. I would wait until it shows 10% or less. Otherwise you are wasting your $ and time. Our hondas use full synthetic oil which is rated up to 12k miles. That is what Mobil claims.

    • @bartman464
      @bartman464 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most places will absolutely let you do this. The downside is that they provide no discount so you'll pay the oil change price and have to pay for your own materials on top of it. That's one really expensive oil change. This obviously may not apply to EVERYWHERE, just my anecdotal experience when I was apartment living and had no space to do my own wrenching.
