Yeah exactly. I mean lol wouldn’t be crazy if the whole setup for it would be that, you are the last Turok in existence? Like apparently in the comics, “Turok” is just a title given to only the most special of people, and their job is to protect the universe from alien invasions... So what if this game setup was, you are tens of thousands years in the future. Literally to the point where humanity is fast approaching type VII on the kardashev scale... So what if In that timeline, someone or something, (maybe this games main antagonist, I think his name is the campaigner?), sent you and all of the Turoks all the back to ancient times, literally the Stone Age, thinking he destroyed them all, but turns out you survived and now all you remember is that you are Turok (maybe you find out that your real name is Tal’set near the game’s climax?) and your job now is to try and reverse what he done and find out why he did it in the first place? What if all of the dinosaurs are possessed by the campaigner and that’s why they are trying to kill you? And maybe for the reason for you fighting the human enemies is because the campaigner sent his men to where you are? Or what if those men from the far future were just sent to where you are on accident? So they think you’re the one that did That to them so they form a cult (similar to DOOM 2016s UAC?) solely based on worshipping the campaigner and they trapped you inside some sort of jungle prison/temple (what if that place is just this games level 1?), as if the distant future is try to takeover the distant past and vice versa? Of course the gameplay will be first if this series was to be rebooted.. it HAS to be. It’s what the these games were most known for, just like doom. But if you want to find out the story, this would be it! Or at least it would be the beginning of it. Besides that though, In my opinion, This Story setup fits Turok like a glove and it also sounds so cool!!! Too bad this series didn’t get enough justice... :( I would totally be the one to reboot this series if I had the ability to..
You got golden eye and perfect dark, turok rite up there with them in terms of first person shooter 🔥 watching this I’m really re-living a part of my child hood 🔥🔥🔥
This game was so scary to me as a kid, I never finished it until Nightdive released their remaster. I remember the distance fog probably made the experience scarier than it needed to be, you would hear enemies running around but you didn't know where they would come from.
The first game I ever got for N64, loved playing this game. Beat the hell out of it, then replayed it so many times with all the different cheat codes.
There’s no way! I’m having flash backs like no other watching this! This game, legend of Zelda games, conquer’s bad fur day, and donkey Kong I could never forget. Thanks!
One of the greatest games of this era! The gun play was unique, along with the setting, the atmosphere and the characters. Today I can see why it was so great back then.
i remember playing this on my 64 and i had so much fun with it. i always enabled the green blood so it looked like stomach acid everytime i killed an enemy. i miss this game
I remember this game fondly. Took a while to beat. The graphics were awesome at the time, and the weapon that let's out an atomic blast was pure overkill. Good times!
It’s almost perfect in every way but the look of the original is a bit changed even when turning off saturation and lowering view distance.. it’s good but they should’ve left the look exactly the same, just update the resolution, controls and performance.
Fun to be able to watch someone play through this game. Back when I played it I was too young and my gaming IQ wasn’t as developed as it is today. I couldn’t get pass the first two minutes of this game lol.
That’s awesome the final boss says “BOSS” as the name. This game needs to be remade just as it is with modern graphics. No reload or anything. Pure shoot em up.
Watching this calms my anxiety and takes me back to Middleton where I used to play with my big bro before he was arrested I missed him for so long and finally saw him but when I was I wish we could get time back
Fun fact, in the treetop village there is an underwater cave you can access by diving to the bottom of a lake. If you can use the grenade launcher to knock an enemy body over that hole, he wont fade until he sinks to the bottom.
Wow. Man this game was hard as he'll. I got to the Hunter guy but that was it. Only by the grace of the Old Game Genie could I get to the end. So I salute you, sir!
Those human enemy death physics were way ahead of their time. I remember the first time I saw the one when you hit them in the neck and was like whaaaat?
The ultimate macho FPS. Unique as hell, never saw a game with this kind of atmosphere again. Like an over the top mixture of Predator and Jurassic Park.
If you remember arcade games, this was similar to arcade graphics. Also, the screen shook to give the stepping feeling. It made Goldeneye seem simple, but Goldeneye was what we played multiplayer on.
ah that music...many hours playing this amazing game when it was first released in the 90's...I still remember the cheat code for all weapons and unlimited health and ammo "on the eighth day god created turok"
I’m 33 years old. I played turok on N64 as a kid. This was crazy to watch. I hunt deer elk bear cougar and almost every other big game animal in the west these days with my bow. I named my bow turok the day I bought it. I love these memories
I would get all stoned outta my a$$ and play this game till I at least found a saving spot, this video brings back some memories of the best times in my life as a teenager. thanx for sharing :)
Ah memories. This was so next gen when it came out. I completed it twice. I still love the movement and high FPS. Always thought the fog effect was not just a limitation on hardware, but a good gameplay element as you had the fear of the the unknown coming out at you. You could hear what was coming but not see it. Modern games need to learn from this mechanic. The second Turok game was awful because it lacked it.
So we had this thing at school during Xmas where we brought gifts at school to make a bazzar. I bought this CD. It was a cracked version with nothing on it written but Turok. Thought it was a PS1 game. My ps1 wouldnt read it and during my frustration that i got scammed by some other kid, i tried my pentium 4 Pc. and there it was. Loved it, scared the shit out of me and i never actually finished it, looks like i got close tho. Back in the day and as a kid, if english wasnt your 1st language you would just roam around in games trying to figure out what your goal is. Like everyone mentioned, it's amazing how many sounds stay stored in your head when you are kid. PS: I still have this CD on my library among with other games from that age.
This was the first game that got me really into first person shooters. I always thought this game was greater than Goldeneye as far as setting and gameplay. I would love for them to remake this.
I own Turok 2 and 3, and beaten them entirely, but I never played the original game. Though not as polished as 2, despite using the same engine, it definitely was cool for its time. The protagonist is not Joshua, but his predecessor (and supposed 4x great grandson), Tal Set. This game, though '97, actually predates Goldeneye 007 by a few months. This was a good start for home FPS history.
My mom bought me this game because I liked dinosaurs and the store employee told her this game has dinosaurs in it. Me being young and having no clue about this game, I was excited to play. Boy was I in for a surprise.
@h2o jonson Turok was an amazing game! It was out long before Goldeneye ofcourse, and I will never forget shooting my first guy in the jugular! That said, by the time GE came out, well, GE was a much better game in most aspects. Still I love Turok.

"gaming IQ" I like that.
That’s awesome the final boss says “BOSS” as the name. This game needs to be remade just as it is with modern graphics.
No reload or anything. Pure shoot em up.
Watching this calms my anxiety and takes me back to Middleton where I used to play with my big bro before he was arrested I missed him for so long and finally saw him but when I was I wish we could get time back
This game looked ahead of it's time
One of the very first fog mechanics
This brings back some crazy emotions for me.
I would always rent this game from blockbuster video as a kid. God I miss those times.
haha same and my parents rented Eyes Wide Shut on VHS one time and I stayed up late and watched it alone in my room all night
Also the death cries of the human enemies in this are just awesome 😂😂😂😂
Yeah the overdramatic "braaggghhh" while they're jumping forward lmao
This and Turok 2 are not only the best turok's of the franchise but some of the best games I have ever played period.
The third one was a weird game
@@12Gates. The third wasn't great but still better than Evolution and Turok 2008 IMO.
My childhood right here. This, Golden Eye, Blast Corps and Gauntlet Legends
Manliest videogame ever made.
Fun fact, in the treetop village there is an underwater cave you can access by diving to the bottom of a lake.
If you can use the grenade launcher to knock an enemy body over that hole, he wont fade until he sinks to the bottom.
Damn this brings back memories 98 Summer playing as a kid wow lol Having those flashbacks dope game
Flashbacks are amazing 👏
Its soundtrack always gets me hyped.
My Favorite Videogame yo... I Remember always playing this Game right before I went Trick or Treating too!
25:38 - 25:41 That was a "Clever Girl" moment and a half right there!
OMG watching battle against T-Rex BOSS was stressful, killing it with 6 HP and with arrow because all other ammo are spent. Amazing!
Soundtrack is pure awesomeness.
Wow. Man this game was hard as he'll. I got to the Hunter guy but that was it. Only by the grace of the Old Game Genie could I get to the end. So I salute you, sir!
I remember being blown away at how good the water looked in this game (for the time)😂
Im glad my child self loved dinosaurs so much that i picked the game out just because it had a dinosaur on it & props to my dad for getting it for me
Shout out to everyone that got the dinosaurs to fight each other
Nostalgia is my drug, and I am a steady user.
Lol we'll be your supplier
Glad I kept and took care of the n64 and around 50 games for it still so much fun today
Those human enemy death physics were way ahead of their time. I remember the first time I saw the one when you hit them in the neck and was like whaaaat?
I'm a kid, and most kids nowadays would say this is garbage, but this game fascinates me
Good things don’t always come in pretty packages young one... =)
Old stuff was more creative with the limitations they had. Nowadays, people steal everything and sell dlc for like 50 dollars, lol.
The ultimate macho FPS. Unique as hell, never saw a game with this kind of atmosphere again. Like an over the top mixture of Predator and Jurassic Park.
Omg i am 34 years remember this masterpiece 😫
If you remember arcade games, this was similar to arcade graphics. Also, the screen shook to give the stepping feeling. It made Goldeneye seem simple, but Goldeneye was what we played multiplayer on.
ah that music...many hours playing this amazing game when it was first released in the 90's...I still remember the cheat code for all weapons and unlimited health and ammo
"on the eighth day god created turok"
holy shit i remember the code but never knew what it stood for
This game was so hyped back in the day
Hours upon hours playing this as a child. Part 2 was very well put with 4 players vs.. thanks for the memorys.
I’m 33 years old. I played turok on N64 as a kid. This was crazy to watch. I hunt deer elk bear cougar and almost every other big game animal in the west these days with my bow. I named my bow turok the day I bought it. I love these memories
This is old school af
Man i gotta play through this again. Then turok 2 lol. Brings back memories
I remember playing this as a kid, it was so hard for me
I would get all stoned outta my a$$ and play this game till I at least found a saving spot, this video brings back some memories of the best times in my life as a teenager. thanx for sharing :)
Still nauseous like when I played it for the first time many years ago.
Sacrificing viewing distance for smooth framerate was a smart move that more programmers should adopt even today.
I will never forget this game. Watching my brother play it was just pure hype.
This game was dope back in the day.
Got this game as a gift. Never beat back in the 90s. Early 2002s came lost it while traveling from Alaska to Seattle
This game was a hit on N64. It would be cool if they made a remake of it.
The three round burst of the assault rifle is etched into my audible memory.
a classic
i would kill for a remake (yes i have the hD switch port)
What a blast from the past, takes me back to when i first got that game.that game was badass
This shows me how trash I was at 7 years old, no clue what I was doing
same here, couldn't last more than 30 minutes in this game, especially Turok 2.
Yes, the maps were way to large and expansive for my 9 year old brain to comprehend. The 2nd game maps were even larger and more confusing lol.
I was 25 and had no clue what I was doing
Every sound effect creates nostalgia. Wish they’d make a next gen turok
Was one of my N64 favs. Such an awesome array of different weapons.
7:01 the most satisfying death animation sounds 😂👌
My mom bought me this game because I liked dinosaurs and the store employee told her this game has dinosaurs in it. Me being young and having no clue about this game, I was excited to play. Boy was I in for a surprise.
My first N64 game 😃 I wanted 007 golden eye but Kmart was sold out so my older bro told me to get this game
not a bad game, but no Goldeneye!
@h2o jonson Turok was an amazing game! It was out long before Goldeneye ofcourse, and I will never forget shooting my first guy in the jugular! That said, by the time GE came out, well, GE was a much better game in most aspects. Still I love Turok.
@h2o jonson sorry mate I said no, I meant not.
