    I ran across Normans video a week ago, I saw his hour meter and thought it was genius. No cutting or modifying my Quincy’s air compressor power box like others have done. I emailed Norman and he was very responsive and informative. Within days I had received his product. During the time of waiting we exchanged emails back and fourth and he was very pleasant to deal with. I would recommend anyone to purchase his hour meter as it was painless to install. Norman I hope you sell the crap out of these to help you keep donating to charity’s and fund your new equipment! I also forgot to add that it was priced very fair and came pre wired. Thank you again Norman!

    I saw one of these today at the local farm store. It is a monster. The Qt-54 looked small standing beside the QT-7.5. I have the QT-54 and it has been a great little compressor. I built an aftercooler for it, and it works very well. I also put a mag motor starter on it and an auto-drain and an hour meter.
    I am surprised that the QT-7.5 didn't have a filter/water separator between the aftercooler and the tank. It might be something to consider keeping any water from going into the tank.
    I am surprised that you don't have to call and inform the weather station when using your compressor. The big air sucker is bound to change the barometric pressure quite a bit.
    I enjoyed your video. It was well presented and informative.

    Just a little tip. Your pressure needs to be at 90 psi when your using a tool. Line pressure drops when your squeeze the trigger. So look at your regulator squeeze trigger on tool and raise pressure till it’s at 90psi. What you’re doing is called 90 psi static pressure.

    • @normanpaulife
      @normanpaulife  ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually 125 psi tank pressure and 90 psi line pressure. So I about 35psi cushion. I thought I mentioned it in the video, perhaps not. Thanks

    Nice video. I liked the wrench attachment for the hoist. I did notice what looked like some galvanized pipe for air lines.
    This is usually not recommended as the coating will flake off and get in your equipment over time.

    Very informative video, sir. Quincy makes one hell of a machine. I looked into them a while back and found that along with surprisingly good customer service, they are built like tanks and they're just a little out of my price range as a hobby level wood worker, DIY type and maybe a skill level or 2 higher than shade tree auto mechanic. But man do I really want one!
    So when I saw the title of this video, it piqued my interest. I thought "how the hell does a home shop Max-Out a Q 7.5?!" I misunderstood obviously. I wanted tp compliment your video, it has lots of useful information, it more than kept my interest and I really like the Hour Meter modification!
    I just finished building [what was originally] a Speedaire 5hp, 2 stage, 80 Gal, Vertical machine for my garage/workshop. Funny enough is now only a Speedaire by way of the name on the tank. Come to think of it the tank is actually a Campbell Hausfield, HAHA. Well, the placard said it was certified by CH I'm not positive if its a Speedaire or CH at this point. In any case I think it would benefit from an hour meter so thank you for the idea and thanks for the great video!!

    Nice machine. I have the QT Pro 7.5 and not the Max. You don't show a lot about the Quincy intercooler or plumbing. I don't see a water separator after it. Does it just dump the cooler air and water back into the tank? I never could find out from online pics and figured I'd add my own down the road. My tank gets pretty warm and lots of water!

    The best series of compressor that Quincy makes is the QR series
    QT stands for Quincy Taiwan that’s where that pump was made but the rest of it I’m pretty sure what the exception of maybe the pressure switch was made in the United States

    • @normanpaulife
      @normanpaulife  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe it’s made in USA but some components are outsourced, the pressure for example is I’m certain, because mine was leaking and they sent me replacement and the main tube was loose. When I discussed it with Quincy Tech , they said it’s brought in that way and installed, without checking the QC of the part

    The air compressor should be at least 12 inches from the wall for it to breathe properly. A compressor that big should be direct wired using AWG 8 gauge wire with a 50 amp breaker if not a 60 amp breaker to handle the start up load when it is in use and has built up some heat.

    You talk about people butchering their machines and being careful not to void the warranty but you voided your warranty as soon as you installed a wall plug.. These machines are hard wire only and if you read your manual you would know that your warranty is now void. If you don’t believe me call Quincy tech support with a burnt motor and tell them that your running off of a plug…. Read your manual people!!!!

    • @normanpaulife
      @normanpaulife  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do not believe there is any reason a high amperage plug will cause undue risk to the compressor. I do not recall a requirement in the manual stating it must be hard wired although my plans were to hardwire it in when I installed a new sub panel in my shop with a cut off switch ( I purchased) it has not happened. The compressor over three years old, it’s out of its extended warranty and has never had any problems since its installation.
      Thanks for your comment
