    As I was born and raised in a Jewish family in Brooklyn N.Y. I could relate very much. I went through much of what he had experienced only I also became Roman Catholic. I felt so ashamed of my Jewishness as a Catholic that it took years for me to break and come to peace with my roots. When I first set foot in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church I felt an inner peace. As I felt I've come home at last. When I told the Fr. I was born and raised Jewish there was no wall, there was welcome. I am to be christened in a few months. As Fr. James Bernstein stated my faith in the Holy Trinity has healed me.

    One of the most eye opening treatments of this subject I have ever heard! Thank you for all the clarification.

    It was a start to touch the heart, but it was way to much to absorb in an hour.Try this, Love God, serve Him alone, live by His Word& not bread alone, do not tempt God.Obey as the Christ did and the spiritual life in the relationships of man to man, man's spirit to his flesh in our duo nature, and God to man will maintain spiritual life required to receive Eternal life, if we die spiritually alive. This is the Vision the Christ gave us so that the people do not perish. Easy to remember, too

    Yes, today I am a Buddhist since I hold Buddha as my personal ideal. The Buddhists do not believe in God as the ultimate reality. Yes, there are gods. But man is considered to be the highest since he or she can achieve enlightenment and end the continuation of reincarnation and Karma. The Gods can not. I was an atheist until I was 33 years of age. At age 5 I refused to believe in God because no one could tell me who made god. And besides I learned that God cursed man with the knowledge of good and evil because Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. To have the knowledge of good and evil, seemed like a good thing. And I could not find anyone who could tell me why the knowledge of good and evil was a bad ting. And it seemed to me that God would certainly want us know good and evil. Actually I learned in Buddhism that all suffering has to do with our knowledge of good and evil. It is the most profound teaching when really understood. For everything good that happens to us, we are happy. And when anything bad happens to use we are unhappy. If we are happy it's because mostly good is happening. If we are miserable, it's because mostly bad is happening. I cover all this in my Book, Owner's manual for the human mind. You can get it free on my website, DougRemington.Com It's a book on how to kill all emotional pain immediately. It's a Buddhist book but it doesn't matter what God you believe in. It works easily for all. It involves only spiritual practice common to all religions.

    Father Bernstein, please read Isaiah 66:3 -- But whoever sacrifices a bull is like one who kills a person, and whoever offers a lamb is like one who breaks a dog's neck; whoever makes a grain offering is like one who presents pig's blood, and whoever burns memorial incense is like one who worships an idol. They have chosen their own ways, and they delight in their abominations;

      But this really applies to the teaching of Jesus and the Torah. That is, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If I were a bull, I would not like to be sacrificed. If I were a lamb, I would not like to have my blood offered..

    No Father Bernstein! You are confused! Jews for Jesus insists Jesus died for the sins of the world! Orthodox Christianity does not! John 3:16 is a big deal with Jews for Jesus, not with Orthodox Christianity! If Jesus died for my sins, why aren't I perfect? But with the Jesus prayer, I can reach perfection. I can be sanctified here on earth. I can become perfect like Jesus! This can happen in my own lifetime. This can happed because of who Jesus is, not because of what he did here on earth. Is God, the Father, an impotent God who must come to earth and sacrifice himself on the cross just to muster the energy for our salvation? Go back and join Jews for Jesus! In Orthodox Christianity the Bible is not the infallible word of GOD! Saint Paul got it all wrong! John 3:16 got it all wrong! Hebrews got it all wrong and other places. Orthodox Christianity as well all the reformation churches disregard those parts of Saint Paul's writing where Jesus is made an impotent piece of stool god. If you tell me otherwise, then I quit Orthodox Christianity, just like I quit Jews for Jesus!

      You have to be a troll. I was reading with an open mind but once you were critical of St. Paul and John 3:16 I see troll. Orthodox Catholicism is very Jewish in its teachings and customs. Many of the Saints that Orthodox Catholics revere were Jewish such as St Paul, St Elijah, St David, St Mary, St Peter, and others.

      Jews for Jesus are all Born Again Orthodox Christians. Born Again Christians make up about 36,000,000 of USA Christians-- the enemy. Most of he rest about 10,000,000 are known as Reformation Christians. They wrote the old King James version of Bible and were reforming the Catholic Church which finally made exactly the same changes. All catholic Bibles will agree with the old King James. If you will check the old King James Bible you will find that Jeremiah 7: 21-24, you will see that God never commanded sacrifices. In fact there are over 25 references in the Old Testament that God forbids sacrifices. So how can Jesus be a human sacrifice for the sins of the world? Please also read Hosea 6-6. and Isiah 10-18. and Psalm 50 in the King James. Or read it in the original Hebrew. The old King James is the most reliable English translation. All the other verses have mostly been changed by the Jews for Jesus exactly like the Born Again Christians have done under a doctrine they have invented called, "Hermeneutics." If you will read the Original Bible in Hebrew or the old King James, you can easily find these other other 20 verses that forbid animal sacrifice. Please don't fall for the lies of the Born again Jews for Jesus. Read the Bible for yourself.

      @@bodhitree7764 I respect your point of view. I personally enjoy the Epistles such as Romans and Philippians. How do you view the Apostle Paul and his Epistles? How about the books of Peter and 1st and 2nd John?
      Do you agree with Eastern Orthodox Spirituality?
      What form of Christianity do you adhere to?

      @@analogkid4957 Paul was a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee (Acts 23-6). You must remember that the Pharisee were the ones that called the secret trial in the Sanhedrin -- the reason that Jesus was crucified. Rabi Hillel was also a member of the Sanhedrin but of course not invited to the secret trial of Jesus. There is an ancient story about this Rabi. There was this wise-guy going around to all the rabbis asking, "Teach me Torah in 30 second while I stand on one foot" All the rabbis got angry and one even chased him up the street with a stick. "Such fun, explained the wise-guy. In time he met Rabbi Hillel with the same request, "Teach me Torah while I stand on one foot." Rabbi Hillel told the wise-guy, "Stand on one foot," and he proceeded with the teaching. "Make a list of all the ways you would like to be treated, and treat every one that way! Then make a list of all the ways you would NOT like to be treated, and DO NOT treat anyone that way! This is the sum and substance of the Torah. Everything else is commentary." That was the end of the teaching. If you will do this you will never need to ask anyone else what they believe or do not believe. You will easily be able to answer all questions by yourself. The born Again Christians and the Jews for Jesus have no knowledge of Torah when it comes to their politics. I have no opinion on the others questions.
