I love the love that you have for the Kronos. I have a 1st gen one and I love it! The best keyboard out there even after a decade. Thanks for this video. We all need a little happiness right now and this gave me a smile!
Love the presentation. I have loved the earlier Korgs but plan to get the Kronos. Used to play the Triton years ago. Lovely and warm tones especially in the pads and strings. Korg has the very best motion synths and pads. Kronos has a preset called Mountain Voices that is really out of this world! Great job and awesome playing!!!!
I was looking at the Kronos last year, but ended up getting a Montage because I liked the simpler interface. But the Kronos has so much more memory for samples and expansion because of the PC-based hardware. I wish I could afford both!
@@narfsounds i am new to Krog keyboards. I owned korg kronos in 2018 . Still learning it and not used everything in it . I installed new libraries and done some new sounds but this keyboard has a lot so it needs time to learn.
I would say that it's super user friendly if you just want to search for sounds and tweak them as you go. But if you want to do serious sound designing, especially VA synths, it's not the easiest interface. Still an amazing keyboard.
I consider to get the 88 keys versions but it seems this version is dicontinued? Do you have any info about it? Korg released Nautilus last year which is something like cheaper Kronos with less knobs and controllers. I assume that Nautilus is preparing grounds for new Korg high class synth?
The kronos is a great instrument. I had a roland xp60 and a Triton for years. They were unique , but kronos is hands down hard to beat as a workstation. The new Fantom is a great concept as well. I think at this point the only things that I'd improve on kronos is more memory and add new sound engines.
Are the firmware and touchscreen interaction up to par with keyboards released in the last couple of years? I look at the longevity of the Kronos name and I wonder if new tech ideas are trying to be shoehorned into old architecture, or are new Kronos boards redesigned for new tech? I need a new workstation level board after getting tired of the menu diving of the old Kurzweil PC3K8. I see the Roland Fantom 88 key and all the buttons and sliders and touchscreen and it seems a good fit for sound and set design and wonder if there is a new flagship platform in similar vein coming from Korg. It’s why I’ve held off getting a replacement for the Kurzweil.
Is not an ipad screen or interface but it gets the job well. Is not only about longevity, check out the other current flagship boards.. Kronos is up to par and in some cases outperforms them.
@@Jojo.255 It was. It’s just that Jordan Rudess does crazy synth patches only possible on a Kronos which pushes the instrument as a workstation synth. This is a great example of the practicality and quality of the instrument while the other video would be pushing the limits of the instrument to a degree.
Kronos has nice sounds and action! How does Kronos compare to Montage performance mode? Does it have performance Scenes like on Montage? I own Motif XF and Korg M3 88. I’m thinking about selling M3 for Kronos.
Great question! Both keyboards are quite similar from a functional standpoint, and which would be better for your needs comes down to personal work flow preferences as related to the user interface design. On the Kronos each "combi" patch can have up to 8 Scenes. Thanks! Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1281, Jason_Filloramo@sweetwater.com
very cool interview, and well led Jacob. this was very interesting. LW is a really nice lady with serious skills. i love when people use their own hacks like typing in the setlist names like that. I have watched many Jordan Rudess videos regarding his use of the kronos in his dream theater sets, so this different perspective from LW is awesome. [segue..] Dear Korg, can we have a wavestate editor that even only just lets us type in names of stuff? (1/2 laughing, 1/2 crying)
The Jordan Rudess piano sound in Set List Mode is pitiful! Not in spite of this, the Kronos is an absolutely amazing instrument! I have the 2011 version and love it more from day to day.
15:43 SWV's Weak. That same patch is in Nautilus. I agree with Lynette. Kronos2 is a beast. But I ended up getting a Nautilus. So I can have a 2020 updated version of Kronos2, absent Karma and surface controls.
Cheap hardware (especially the sliders and data entry wheel) and the thing has not been refreshed in 10 years (the 2015 model was simply a bigger SSD and a software update). It still runs on an outdated Intel Atom processor. I want back the old days when the top brands (Yamaha, Roland, Korg) kept pushing out new products every two or three years.

Man she really sold that board for live performers!

two amazing player playing together.....i still have my kronos 2 - 88, one of the first sold ones back in feb 2015 in switzerland ❤❤❤❤
She’s a Treasure! Great review, thank you 🙏

Korg will always be my top choice for keyboards 🔥👀🔥
Motif is mine.

Whao so good, and natural, great video, you guys mean well, and are full of talent, thank u so much, and the lady is so sweet. Love this video !
Just got a Kronos a couple months ago and lovin' it and I'm barely scratching the surface of what it can do.
I have had mine a couple of years now and I still feel like I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do.
Ditto here.
Ditto for me, too. It’s more difficult to learn how to use all the features of the Kronos than it is to understand the theory of music 🤪
This was good. You should do more videos like this
I like this guest! More of this please
Ok I’m sold I’m going to get a Kronos!!! I’m a long time Roland user but this will be my one new work horse as well!!!
It's been discontinued, make sure you get one now while it lasts!
@@faruzzy Well....shit lol. I think this is the end of the Korg Kronos well....there is still the Nautilus though.
Great demo, haha, this machine is ten years and still there are demo,s online. This machine stays alive.
Love my Korg Kronos 2
The Korg PA series is like my dream keyboard from what it offers. I like the Kronos but also out of my budget range.
Lynette is the real deal guys. She is an actual musician
did she say user friendly ?😅. i think the kronos is the hardest keyboard to use lol , i am still not using the kronos at its full potential !
It's easy if you know how! I does help if you've used Korg keyboards before like the Triton or the M3.

Wow I was just smiling the whole time 👌 thanks for the video.
😃👍
could not play in my tribute bands without my K2-73. Best piece of gear I own.
that sine portamento patch sounded killer
Awesome

Lynette rips. I've known about her since she did Making His Band way back when
She is incredible 😊
That one sound that was polyphonic with the portamento sounded like Isao Tomita sound off the album "Snowflakes are Dancing".

That synth at 12:01 was so good whats that sound I have a Kronos 2 - 61 Key
They should have Jordan Rudess over to show the pure sound design power it has for creating unrivaled synth patches.

Why don't they have angled power cables? They stick straight out and it looks terrible. Something lower profile would be much better

Gr8!
I don't think the Kronos is selling well 🤦🏼♀️ all the other workstations - Yamaha’s, Roland’s, etc are all sold out.
Sold out because of chip shortage probably.
Yeah the Kronos is rare. You Will see a couple of nords before the Kronos
IMO, Kronos is a lot of things, but user-friendly is not one of them
So true. Find myself saying “I want to do this, but where the @$#% is the setting”.
Hehehe🤣👍👍
You have to learn your instrument. It pays off.
That goes for every workstation, I started with a Roland w30, that's a nightmare.
Kronos or montage?

Not up to the typical Sweetwater quality
Nord Stage 3>>>>Korg Kronos 2
2 completely different boards.
Lol specially the key action...
@@cameron357 and? Lol. A board is a board. It isn’t that different at all....both can be performed live use and studio use
Nord is cool but that touch screen and layer capability is big!
