God, I remember being obsessed with this game back in the day. Everytime I would go to the Arcade, this was my top choice. Played it yesterday and the nostalgia is unreal.

I saw this game at a local cinema. I know it's a de-Japanized version of Maximum Tune but I still generally like the slightly retro look of the game, like it's something running on a next generation version of the Dreamcast.
The turn off for me is the selfie avatars. I really would rather not see my face in a game.

Maximum Tune 5 is available on some arcades.
Yeah, it does look like something you'd see on the Dreamcast. The shine of the cars reminds me a lot of Daytona USA 2001.

This game is so much better than Cruis'n Blast! (which doesn't even have a brake pedal or seat adjustment!) 😅
Cruis'n Blast and Dead Heat are 2 different worlds,one is more movie action while here is driving action

Damn, I so want to play this game. Sadly I've got Win 10 and don't want to go through all the hassle with dual boot. So I hope one day there will be a Win 7/10 "hacked" version out, but I doubt it. =/

yeah I can most certainly understand that. Too much hassle for only one game, really. I'll wait & see. Hopefully there will be more Fast & Furious arcade games coming out soon for Win 7/10 instead! ;-)

I never this version with lots of American cars. The one I usually play at the mall is Japanese version with lots of classic JDM cars plus Tokyo track.

Maximum Heat. Same tracks but replaces 4 American cars with 4 Japanese cars.
How did you manage to have the sound working ? What are the sound specs of your PC, onboard sound or something ? Please let me know, as the sound of the game is all messed up in my case, I use Ubuntu and Via HD onboard sound in my PC

only 4 stages makes this too limited. I got bored fast.
Then start doing a yearly goal of beating the 32 game codes(game categories) in first place,it won't be boring
Just take a note and write like in *vertical line* the letters:
"N" for New York
"S" for San Francisco
"C" for Chicago
"L" for London
and the horizontal line write 1 to 8,which are the car options:
"1" for Corvette
"2" for Viper
"3" for Ford
"4" for Mustang
"5" for RX-7
"6" for Lancer
"7" for 370Z
"8" for Skyline GT-R
Every first place you beat,you check then don't play it anymore,once you reached the 32,then reset the counter and go for 2 sets…
I beaten the C8 category today(Chicago course/Skyline GT-R) in first place,now I have 31 more to go.Who knows getting my idea,you might make history in the arcade you play at,beat like 32 games in all forms once a year might be CITYtastic!!!!!!!

But if you consider main essentials,they are actually *128(not 32)* combinations:8×4×2×2,being the last 2's,nitro units and modes of winning as pacifist and aggressive(any%),these *inserts the 32 combinations in every quadrant for single/triple nitro clean as any%/pacifist%*
Colors,upgrades and opponent distribution doesn't influence on driving like Top Gear or Wangan Midnight
If you wanna try this,consider using a sheet with 2 "8×8" boards(like a lottery card),one that you clean any% in the 64 combinations and the other with pacifist%).Try looking for first place in pacifist mode considering prioritize any%
Beating in pacific mode while you need to clean first the any% makes it 2 wins(check the same category in any% and pacifist% boards),if you press the nitro button in an occasion that you had to,you might redo without using nitro after cleaning the 64 any% set,and the cycle goes…
The speedrun should be done WITHIN 1 YEAR!!!!!!!
Update:I'm testing to upload notes on Google Drive,so I'll be modeling to turn it the Dead Heat combination list,it'll have check boxes for every combination beaten,and in Google Sheets,the card with the 8×8 board,here's how they work:
Dead Heat combination list:
You'll see 2 emojis:A *wine bottle* and an *angel*
Wine bottle=Used nitro
Angel=No nitro used
After this,each of the city names followed by letter and number
Letter=Nitro units(S=Single(1)/T=Triple(3),in this second case,you must access your profile in order to work)
Example:"🍾NEW YORK T8"/"👼🏻NEW YORK T8"(This pair you play New York,with profile access(triple nitro),and choose the 8th car(this way:"1 2 3 4 5 6 7 [8]")
You beat 1st:
- If you use nitro,check only the wine emoji,with redo afterwards for pacific win and no nitro usage
- If you made it pacific(having permission to use wheelie for taking down difference),check both wine and angel emoji,comeback with it next year(or until the 128 combinations have been cleaned)
Dead Heat combinations sheet:
Since the cars are the first thing you pick,every line will contain the car numbers like CAR I,CAR II,CAR III till CAR VIII(you'll work the same order mentioned on the combination note)
Every column will contain the first letter of the city("N"=New York,"S"=San Francisco,"C"=Chicago,"L"=London) followed by nitro units("S"=Single,"T"=Triple)
In the 8×8 board,you'll find 3 circle emojis whose represents:
⚫=Not played/remaining:You'll have to play anyway
🟢=Used nitro:You'll have to play until no need to use nitro
🟡=No nitro use:Combination finished,till next year or until finish the 128 cycle
Example:
NT:New York with 3 nitros
CAR VIII:Car 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 [8]
If you win using nitro,check with "🟢" on the cross of CAR VIII×NT,and go for pacific win,if you win without use nitro "🟡",it's over,go to the others

I put Ubuntu and the game on a pen drive and ran it via terminal. I originally was gonna dual boot but I already have Win 7 as my other OS and didn't want to bother that.
Excitehype will this also work if i use virtual box?

Can you or someone please find a way to post the soundtrack to this game online, currently the only rip available on TH-cam is super low quality in some spots. This game's soundtrack is so unbelievably underrated!

I didn't see anything like this in the manual,does your arcade work with manual transmission controller instead of PIN pad?Does your arcade has an own profile to be used as general registered in it?Could be any of these reasons
Whether ways you play,you get first place using 1 nitro,just learn to defend yourself along the way and slam in the last meters

i keep getting error cannot set sample format.
I have 2 questions
1.Will this support an NVIDIA Optimus card or only for standalone NVIDIA card?
2.Is keyboard supported as input? If not, can i use a generic usb gamepad or emulate my keyboard as a gamepad (Kinda like vJoy in Windows)?
(Don't ask me to buy gamepads, i don't have money for that)
I think any Nvidia card should work, you have to update the nvidia drivers which is done automatically in Ubuntu ( see www.emuline.org/topic/740-dead-heat-arcade-linux-nvidia-gpu-required/ for instructions ) - You can use a generic gamepad or joystick if you install "xboxdrv" and then "jstest-gtk" through the terminal and then calibrate the joystick. Google it or just ask me how to install xboxdrv and jstest-gtk if you don´t know...
