Thank you for the informative video. I want to point out that the junk that is in the fan is from rodents. If the car sits in the open or in an unattended garage and is unused for a significant period of time, such as several months, then mice will crawl into the engine compartment, chew the insulation on the firewall, and then climb into the blower fan to make their nest. The Galant is badly designed in that respect because rodents, once in the engine compartment, can access the blower fan by easily going into the space next to each of the hood hinges. My blower fan had a similar amount of junk in it, including pieces of dry cat food, apricot pits and a dead baby mouse. Before the blower fan completely stops, it will make a lot of racket and there will sometimes be a disagreeable smell that comes out when the blower motor is turned on. We live in the country and there are a lot of field mice. If you look at the video closely, it is not just insulation that is in the blower fan. There are additional items that are visible that the mice drug in. Usually there will be evidence of rodent activity when you raise the hood, such as mouse droppings on the valve cover. While it is cruel, if you place a sticky glue trap with a dab of peanut butter in the middle, then you will quickly find out if a vehicle that is not being used often has mice that are making a home, or at least checking out, your engine compartment. Once mice start packing crud in the blower fan, there will be crud in other places leading to the fan. If you take the blower assembly out as shown and use a tool such as a Lint Lizard that attaches to a vacuum cleaner, you can shove the tube up where the fan fits and work it around to get more stuff brought in by the mice out of your car. There can be a surprising amount. Otherwise, once you put the new motor assembly into the car, the pull of the fan on the blower motor will bring a lot of the junk right back into the blower fan and you will need to take off the motor assembly again and empty the junk out of the blower fan.
It would be helpful if you showed the whole process coming from how you took the glove box out and all of that. Because the whole job is going to require that knowledge, without knowing it, half the information is missing... 🙏🏼
