Nice
Just promote your videos with links I do it sometimes to make iews and sus and oney
Your wrong
I uploaded lots of videos and I not uploaded lately but I don't have alot TH-cam channel subscribers and not alot people watch them
Your advice isn't factual
I think more to with how popular a topic is
Like food and drink are average in popularity
Gaming such as pokemon or yugioh players or people whom do walkthroughs for people on games
They are really popular
Then you got poetry and creative writing what my channel about and I end up saying I'm small time TH-camr but actually just least popular topic for TH-cam channel.
hi
Dab
I've actually never heard this advice for new channels before, pretty good stuff
Try it out, let me know what you think 🙏
The heck, *PATTERZ!?!?!??!* WHAT'RE YOU DOING HERE?!?!?!?!?
It indeed is a good one
@RandomCan well no one said this was the secret to success that'll just get fame to fall on your lap. It's a helpful tip but it requires hard work.
@RandomCan matt means for when you start advertising your channel around. like ofc it won't mean much if you're just getting home page recommended views, probably very little to begin with, but if you're getting people to check out your thing and come and BE a viewer for you having a way to have them build up watch time is good, that's what it means
People can criticize or make fun of MatPat but this is his element, I don't even think the workers at TH-cam know it as good as MatPat does. The man knows his stuff.
How about now with YT's BS?
@@AcidiFy574 He’s still doing incredibly well.
His job before was literally to study TH-cam and train people how to thrive in it
Yeah he thrives he is known well throughout TH-cam and has multiple channels
Same with Mr. Beast.
It's funny how the answers to the algorithm are incredibly simple, but people overlook the answers because they expect something complicated or convoluted.
It's amazing how much matpat knows about the system and algorithms of TH-cam, and how he's willing to share that knowledge with others
He's the best
He's got a background in data analytics and one of his jobs was consulting people on how to find a space on TH-cam and thrive in it. I never knew any of this till today and he's said some really insightful stuff
@@youshaeiagreed
@@MrProbeNWatchshooot, he needs to make a program of something I would definitely pay for his advice
I feel like it’s better when people share advice on how to grow on TH-cam, it’s very useful
Finally some advice for smaller channels that isn’t just “be yourself and get lucky” (which is still good advice, but it can get a little old!)
Yea.. Now I see why I only have 1k after 2 years. I really wish I heard this advice when I started my channel.

Stopped watching him a while back but i still respect him alot, he knows his stuff very well. One of the smartest channels out there.
You should watch him again especially with the new FNAF security breach
as someone who also stopped watching for a couple years, but returned last year, I can tell you, his content is still pretty awesome.
Not really, his food theory channel is highly problematic and doesn't give warnings before it shows dangerous acts being done
@@mfirdanhb there are literally dozens of other channels that do a better job than he does with security breach, He's a really fallen off with his content in the last 2 years
@@shadowsoulless6227 you see, your lack of a profile picture makes your opinion invalid.
Before Game Theory, Film Theory, etc, blew up, MatPat's main work on TH-cam was studying the algorithms and determining the most effective way to get your content out there. He was able to turn it into a profit by helping other TH-camrs, and he still does this to help ensure his videos reach as far as possible. If anyone knows how to work the system, it's MatPat.
Exactly. If you haven't yet, watch the full interview. He really goes into depth about his TH-cam knowledge: th-cam.com/video/MBQYIgsbSAY/w-d-xo.html
His seperate new food channel had millions of subscribers in a matter of days, and i have always loved his content so much. Hes honestly a huge inspiration for me
I'm not his fan, but god damn, he is really smart

He seems different. Not in a bad way, I just didn’t imagine Matt patt speaking like a genuine adult
I did. I watch the couch videos🤣
Gt not live
He was a social media consultant or something like that for a long time. His channel is largely market research
He’s a full on adult, married and with a child. He puts on a persona when he’s recorded.
@@10willybilly yeah I meant I’m used to hearing the TH-cam “smash that like button!” Voice creators do 😆
That's some advice that felt like would take a year to master given in less than a minute
I mean if you look at a channel and it has one video it might mean the person making the content is not serious so you might not subscribe or keep an eye out but if you see 5 videos you are like this guy is serious. That's at least how I feel. I have seen a lot of channels with one really good educational video but they stop posting.
This is actually quite encouraging. I’ve been thinking for the longest time “just make the channel now so it has some seniority on it and make the videos when you’re motivated”. But yeah I’ll do that in my own time when I’m not as busy. Yeah I’m justifying my procrastination.
You can start wprking on some videos. Review the work and leave them ready for when you feel you're ready to launch the channel.
Matpat, you are the reason that I got into many of the games that I did.You are the reason I always say at the end of a statement, “But that’s just a theory.”. I am extremely sad to see you go.But I know it’s for the best.Thank you for the last 10 years of my life.
I made sure I launched mine with 5 or 6 videos. Including shorts
Matpat, even if some of his theories can be silly, is genuinely a great and honest guy
I love his theories it's enjoyable
His theories aren't theories, they're content.
@@innerDialectic honestly yeah, his theories are usually him just taking whatever he thinks might make an interesting title/engaging video and then finding connections to "prove" it, although occasionally he'll actually make a legitimate theory. If you go into knowing it's basically just a hypothetical/mind puzzle, it's more fun.
@@innerDialectic I mean 90% if not more of video game theories as a whole are wrong, and he literal outtro has been a disclaimer that it's just a theory. Most are simply one of many theories about a game, and are prone to conformation bias like any other.
@@innerDialectic finally someone understanding what the primary target is matt's videos is, the correctness of the theory is only secondary to how fun it is to watch
Listen to MatPat. This was literally his job before he got really big with his 4 channels.

Literally every single new Webtoon starts with 3 episodes/chapters 😂

@@2hotflavored666 I mean that's just for the originals, on canvas creators have more freedom with their comics, including only starting with one chapter.

If there's any TH-camr I trust to give advice about being a TH-camr it's matpat I've didn't subscribe to Game Theory since 2012 back in the early days and even though I don't really watch Game Theory anymore it's insane to see that he has grown from a small TH-camr to a massive one all because he knows the TH-cam landscape in and out
Being able to choose when you quit rather than being forced to quit because of irrelevancy is a blessing, it’s almost like you got the good bittersweet ending in a video game rather than the depressing bad ending.
Agreed. MatPat definitely got the good ending he deserves :)
aspiring story time animators seeing this: welp time to use all my life and soul this year to launch my channel hopefully i can survive this year with just hot pockets
That’s why you start out simple, and then make more complex animations once you’ve got a following
@@sunsetskye483and why you have a job while yt is just a hobby
If you’re just starting TH-cam, you’re not making money anyways. Even if you go viral, it’ll be about a month before you can even actually make money to boot, since partnership takes a multi week review on your channel to be approved. If you’re starting a new channel, it’s absolutely worth it to spend all that time creating something, and instead of immediately posting it after finishing 1, finish some others - and then post them all together. Anyone starting TH-cam should have a job anyways, and be fully prepared to absolutely flop and never make a cent lol
By launch I'm presuming he means starting to put yourself out there with advertising and such. It's absolutely fine to make the channel before you make any videos but the first bunch should all be uploaded at once in that scenario
He's mainly talking about it other channels, like GTLive, Film Theory, etc.
@@mantis-manthegreat I don't think you got what I was saying my dude
@@thecrabmaestro564 you're talking about advertising, MatPat is talking about starting second channels. When you have other channels makes sure there is more to see then one or two videos.
@@mantis-manthegreat I didn't know the source and nothing about the video suggested it was about second channels. The video title proclaims it to be about started any TH-cam channel

Formerly on the platform
I thought that as well. My idea was if I ever started a channel I’d post multiple videos at once at first
My reason being is whenever I find a new TH-camr I’ll binge watch their videos even if I don’t like them that much at first (tommyinnit was one I found annoying lmao) but It gets people hooked and then they can’t wait for the next video
Exactly. One video is never enough

this only really works with channels with some sort of way to start the views. i would take this with a grain of salt. do this + the ludwig trick of basically advertising ur channel to an audience that would appreciate it.

Basically he just made a short and sweet video about a streamer, then sent a donation linking the video to the streamer during a time when the stream was just kinda looking for things to do.
Also make sure the videos are actually well edited. If those are your first videos they are most likely not though. And 5 bad videos won't do your channel any good now will they
*If you upload them one by one you can probably keep improving things easier and more effectively
He literally said that when advertising make shire to have 5 that was the point
Matpat was part my childhood. I used to watch your videos when i was a kid, you smosh, fred & annoying orange, but now i'm an adult. it's strange to think how much we've grown together. your videos have been a constant in my life, providing entertainment and laughter. so, while i'm sad you're retiring, It’s so bittersweet because we’re losing one of our favorite creators, but we get to know matpat gets some well deserved rest. “Whoever holds this long stick, is gay” -Matpat
I did this years ago and it only works if you’re already big telling people to go to your new channel.
Still, it's gotta be better than not doing it.
Any tips on how to get your Channel noticed more?
Worst Day Of My Life
This actually makes so much sense, I had my channel for a long time not uploading but just as my personal channel, then I started uploading once a week, I’d get some views from my friends who were in discord servers as me which was enough, but then I started uploading more of a series that would appeal to a wider audience and not only did those videos get fairly big, for a small channel at least the numbers have been bigger than I could have possibly imagined, but my other videos started to get a few more views as well, not crazy but there was some trickle down, very informative
Love that he's helping smaller creators with his consulting, but at the same time you can directly trace a lot of the oversaturation of sponsor blocks back to Matt. I remember when a smaller channel I watched posted on Twitter that they were consulting with him and suddenly their decently targeted sponsors were replaced with Raid and Manscaped and Hello Fresh. I understand the need to make money to do more things with your channel, but it just isn't in keeping with the spirit of content creation.
I think that's an issue with TH-cam as a whole, really. The algorithm's fucked, which makes getting anything out of the site basically impossible without directly obeying the algorithm. As much as I really don't watch Matpat anymore, can't deny what he says or promotes for stuff like that does make sense. Does suck with the oversaturation though.
For everyone out there who just started with YT, wish you all the best and may we all be successful!! 💖🙏
Thankyou 💖

Okay that’s actually genius. I’m using this when I start one
That's....actually a fantastic advice - both algorithmatically and logically
I'm impressed
i just love the way matpat communicates. he has a really profound talent of it
As a small creator myself, this is so true. You wanna launch at least 2-3 videos when you first start out. Miss you Matpat!!
I love how the three shots of MatPat are him as a normal adult, him as a drug addict and him as a good Christian boy 🤣
I'm not a channel I'm a live feed lol. It's only active when it goes live lmao.
I prerecorded a few videos before launching my channel, and made a few in the first week or two as well. Establishing your early audience is definitely key
This advice is also true for many social media platforms
The only issue I can see with this is that when someone like matpat creates a new channel his subscribers will move over to it but if somebody's starting out starts a channel it's not going to be this huge change it's going to be very small and very slow in reality
That's only the growing scale due to him being a celebrity, but following this advice will just be better than not doing so, he's just saying to release 5+ videos when you opened the channel, so your viewers can actually get engaged or you getting more watchtime overall.
I hate how TH-cam has become a business you have to maximise everything to achieve any success on. How tf is a new creator starting out supposed to make 5 high quality videos before they've even started their channel?

In the early stages of starting my TH-cam channel and this was one of the first things I planned on doing. My reason was for showing a variety of interests and different styles. The watch time and algorithm didn't even occur to me but makes it all the better. Great advice and something I haven't really seen said in these type of vids.
I agree this one guy I know started a yt Channel with like 2 vids on it and they were pretty popular they got a bunch of views but after that he waited like 2 weeks to post again and by that time everyone forgot about his channel and it just ended right there since no one was watching it meaning no time on recommendations meaning no more watch time etc
What's your YT

I remember launching my channel for the first time, I kinda made that mistake but quickly fixed by releasing 4 videos each of them were barely a minute long. Now I make full length videos

Well that explains food theory...
Thank you MATPAT!
And thank you for clipping this or I wouldn’t do well when I start my channel.
I'll remember this thank you matpat
MatPat: Has experience on TH-cam and is extremely smart and intricate with every video
Dream and 3am channels: Screams so 4-8 year olds are entertained
I'm gonna miss Matpat...
I might not like the stuff Mattpat puts out anymore but I gotta respect the hell out of him for his commitment to helping and trying to understand this jumbled mess.
It’s a shame he is so caught up in it and essentially forced, ironically, in to producing the same stuff by the very system he fights against or else he’d be buried by the same Algorithm. Kinda tragic.
Still glad I know who he is though. Watching or not. I think that says a lot. I hope good things for him.
What time doesn't matter, when you launch doesn't matter, what matters is that you have content you want to share in that you enjoy sharing it. Everybody is about the money
For most people, they want to grow the channel. Thats how you do it

Why he sell his channel?
@@Saiputera He didn't sell it, he just retired cus he's tired..

He started one and now he's ending it 🥹
I also think having the same type of content for the five videos is good. For example if you show Skyrim guides, it would be better to have other guides rather than other games
One of my favorite videos MatPat uploaded was the behind the scenes vids he did on Game Theory that showed the full process of uploading. His team and him explain what they did to create videos and it's crazy the amount of detail he does. I love how smart and how creative he is. One of my favorite youtubers to date.

I’m so not taking this advice for granted when I’m starting my channel
I love the info this man always has it's never going to be the same when he is gone😢
That look the guy gave him on the first cut 😂
No one ever told me this but this was my plan to begin with anyway (dont look at my channel, nothing is there. I mean this is what I am going to do once I get the time to make content). I knew that posting one video to start with was going to get little to no views and interactions and possibly make TH-cam never recommend my videos because no one sticks around to watch them. I'm glad MatPat is making this advice public because he has an astronomically bigger platform than mine and his voice will be heard. This is good advice.
Agreed. Good luck with your channel!
