I know this was most likely a joke, but you wouldn't want to do twin turbos, as that would defeat the purpose, but running a turbo and a supercharger would grant crazy boost, the supercharger would be a limiting factor, and the lack of room for intercooler between turbo and supercharger, the transmission wouldn't be able to handle the low end power either, but regular turbo supercharger has been done before on a miata
The rev hang is because of the throttle body placement. They usually move them before the supercharger for best throttle response and consistent tuning changes. But I get it budget😊
My 1992 Thunderbird SC (stock) has the Eaton M92 SC and it's loud. Love the instant torque the SC gives the engine. The sound of it to is just sooo good :D IRC on my car it does have a "blow off valve" It's just a vacuum operated valve that when you let off the throttle it diverts the excess pressure back through the intercooler. I miss driving the Thunderbird though, need it back on the road. It's so much fun :D
Awesome video as always guys! Love the budget stuff yall been doing lately! Definitely go with him to the track I want to see this thing really rippin!’🤟🤟👍👍👍
Could be blowing out the spark...I had a similar thing happen when I put a supercharger on my fox mustang, had to lower the gap, problem was temporarily solved (what really solved it was adding a MSD box).
I've got a 2017 Lancer M/T and it does the same for my car, cutting off all power at 6500rpm and I learned it was a fuel cut to prevent the engine from overreving and wearing the internals/piston rings ig.. but thats just my NA 4B11 its possible thats the cause explaining why injectors weren't going full out
Awww shit yeah buds!! I had that same charger on my 1995 1.8 Miata a long time ago. With an 8psi pulley, the old flyin Miata fm2 intercooler, rc550 injectors and a home built megasquirt 1 the car made 160whp and like 145tq. Drivability was great and near instant throttle response, but despite upgrading all of the brackets and tensioners, checking belt alignment a million times, I couldn’t get a belt to last more than two or three weeks. Stock pulley, which that mp45 seems to have should make about 4psi. I likely have a different megasquirt processor and code than that Miata does, so can’t say 100% where to find it (different code moves menus and shit around which is moderately annoying to me but whatever) but check in maybe the advanced menu for overboost protection and make sure that’s not set too low. Otherwise maybe something in rev limits could be enabled or wrong? Check and make sure table switching isn’t switching to a different map with boost? I’m pretty familiar with mine, but only recently started messing with MS2/extra code so still learning that myself. Only last tip I can really give, the search box on upper right corner of tuner studio is super handy for finding settings.
Appreciate it!, we got it figured out. Turned out to be the ecu shutting the injectors off due to getting to close to 100% duty cycle apparently. Tossed some stock rx8 injectors in it and it's revving past 7k no issues now. Odd issue to have with duty cycle still showing room to go and afrs being fine but atleast we figured it out and it's fixed.
@@BoostandBadHabits Clearly hadn't finished the entire video by the time I commented lol. That is still a pretty strange uh "feature?" to cut fuel when you've reached some kind of high duty cycle threshold.. Not a setting I've ever run across in older MSs anyway. Either way, great you guys figured it out!
He definitely says what the blower kit cost and what the ecu cost. The injectors was free.99 as we gave them to him out of one of the spare rx8s we have. Plus intercooler pipe/bov. Superchargers are pretty simple installs. Not alot in terms of a parts list to break down cost wise.
your blow off valve has too weak of a spring. it should just stay closed at idol. need to put a stiffer spring in there. when that pushes open at high rpm can cause issue
No it shouldn't. That's not how they work with blowers. Only turbos. Bov on blowers are suppose to stay open at idle to vent the extra air the sc is creating at idle the engine can't consume. It closes under throttle so it isn't a boost leak and opens again when letting off like a traditional bov does.
No it revved to 7200 without the blower belt. Apparently the ecu has a built in safety that shuts the injectors off if they get to close to 100% duty cycle. Tossed some srock rx8 injectors in and it's fine now. Weird issue to have since the duty cycle and afr showed good in the log but atleast we figured it out and its fixed
why do you need a blow off valve? It tops out at 6 psi. It's not like it can over supercharge!Lol Seriously, I've run that blower for 8 yrs without one. But I didn't have intercooler though.
Fuel pump is fine, literally just done an entire drift event this weekend on the same setup. The issue was the factory injectors getting to close to 100% duty cycle and the megasquirt shutting the car down as a safety. After we put some stock rx8 injectors in it the car runs flawlessly
Next video: twin turbo supercharged miata
Will is gonna make it happen
That's called "compound boosting" 😉

You two in a miata is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. 🥇pure gold #1
I love the videos. I don't care what the subject matter is, y'all are funny and down to earth.
Killer build boys. Loving these budget builds. Keeps it real for us down home boys. Keep rocking🤘

Will's beard smacking him in the face is the real star of this video
I have an 05 R53 Mini Cooper S. Nothing beats the little Eaton supercharger. The whine is music to my ears.
I was wondering about the Miata last week... hell of a video! I'm all for the drift event video! I wanna see that thing rip!

doing this swap on a 3.8L mustang I got ;) wish my luck
Sweet edit on that pipe. I honestly didn't even catch it at first.
I absolutely love all of your guys videos but these budget builds are so funny and cool to watch

Baddy little Miata! Lets see what it can do on the track! 💪
Love this video. More of this Miata!!
yooo hotrush x boost and bad habits crossover is killer
I’m tryna get them more involved in drifting with every day that goes by
love these cheap turbo/suppercharger intall episodes keep em coming man. yall should pick up another cheap project like the ford f150 to buget turbo.
Go to the drift event would love to see how the Miata performs with that supercharger
Dam Ford power steering pump flashbacks
Real wrenching fellas! Great video!
Damn Rips better than I thought!
when you see how volkswagen does their boost pipes this looks mint
It’s always a lovely surprise when i see your videos in my TH-cam recommended, shame I don’t get notifications for some reason

Sounds like a bad power steering pump lol

Sounds amazing
Your fabricator can do with a BOV. (Optional extra)
Next time use a vise with a 2x4 to crush the pipe it gets it flatter and more uniform.
that thing sounded like a power steering pump boutta blow
keep the vids comin !
came here for the shirtsfckedin sticker 😂
Hehe ❤
Every time I see a Miata, I remember my almost 300lb female PO when I was a kid. bright yellow. She'd smoke those long cigarettes like 120s
awesome video
If I watch this and there’s not a cost breakdown I’m gonna be disappointed

Unlike a bov on a turbo usually the bov stays open unless your on the gas with a super charger like this
Do you need a stand-alone ecu to put a supercharger on a 1995 Miata? Heard someone say you couldn’t use the stock one
We were at 420 likes, and I hated to hit it and change it, but much love, tho!

U need brackets for a sc, need exhaust for turbo
Where did you guys find the supercharger I can’t find one for sale
Y’all still have the old 6.2 supercharger?
Where did you find that intercooler?
Sounds pretty good hahahaha
🔥🔥 as usual
hell yeah guys!
kinda sounds like vavle float , like your at the end of the RPM for the stock cams . . .
Wonder if it’s a built in redline into the megasquirt
Hey I have a broken bolt in my car how should I get it out?

Ls swap to a miata! Wanna see that
How much pounds of fuel
Is it sending? Would upgrade
Saying that cause I have had issues with my f150 taking too much time to start because of fuel pump
If the pump is pressurized on the high end and it’s still cutting you off might uograde
Prob got ran hot and the Teflon is gone off the impellers.
MIATAAAAA!! 😂😂
i was wondering if hes using the standalone to control spark as well? or is it piggy backing the stock pcm?
It’s a pnp that controls everything
20$ worth of homeboy in the 5$ homeboy package
is 6500 rpm is the oem rev limiter ? predy sure you hit a safety rpm from factory

@@BoostandBadHabits it was worth a shot 😂😂
