Not really. This should be your baseline structure in SC2. Get your macro down before you worry about build orders. You could copy a build order 1 for 1 but if you don't have good macro then you'll still lose

      Its not really that impressive...
Like, a pro runner isn't a pro because he takes so many steps in a day.... This is no different. These are the very core basics, which as a new player will of course take time to learn, but they are basic muscle memory. No different than how you don't think about moving your legs when you walk, well, then you're new to starcraft its a lot like learning how to walk but the profesionals aren't pro because they walk real good...

One thing that is extremely important in settings that PiG clearly doesn't know about because he's never been this low level is make sure you set your preferred server to the best ping (under language and region). the last thing you need when learning is getting put on US east from Australia because that's the best match the system could find. Once you hit masters you will no longer be able to specify a server any more so enjoy good ping while you can.

Pig-I have been playing BW and SC2 for over 20 years now. I have always been a casual player that loved the skill ceiling. But I also love systems and strategies to improve. I am a fan of your work and appreciate you stepping in where Day9 stepped out (no disrespect, he is obviously a legend). I know you have begrudgingly started this series. I want to thank you for that.
I have been following various B2GM series over the years and I have continuously capped out at high plat with Terran and Toss. Once I start facing those low-level diamond players, my MMR just plummets. I have always been interested in Zerg and now that you started a B2GM I thought this was a perfect jumping-on point.
I bought a fresh account and dropped into Bronze 1. With just this video, I zoomed to Gold 3 in a day. I noticed you have a few additional rough notes for Gold 3+ so I assimilated as much as I could. (Essentially, after the roach timing I just drone to 60 and push with the roach/hydra). This morning I hit Plat 3. In three days, I reached the league that I have been stuck in for literal years.
I can't wait to see where this series goes. Thank you for taking the time to do this; I know it is a ton of work. I will continue to support you and promote this series the best that I can. Keep up the good work.

In fact, you say you aren't hand holding, but as someone who has watched pro sc2 for a while but never played I know there are *so many* things you're leaving out. No ling harass, no drone scout, no spore in base, etc. etc. It's really nice to be shown what the most important fundamentals are and then also how to really hammer them down and practice them, and not get distracted by stuff that is secondary to those fundamentals. Thanks for the vid.

This is definitely my favourite Zerg guide I've seen for new players. I played some games and was watching some guides but this is the first time I've I've heard macro cycles explained and heard the term at all (It really makes thing so much easier to have the mindset of having these actions grouped together and makes the rest of the game so much less stressful), having cocoons set to control groups before they hatch (simple but I've never thought of this and no one has mentioned that), these little things are so much, especially together.
Also having someone say micro is important instead of just a moving into bases to improve in the low ranks is so reassuring since there was so many time I tried to do the a-move then focus on macro, but the enemy holds me off since their defensive setup was good even though I was getting more resources and had more units.

Never played a game of starcraft in my life but the game is like command and conquer generals which I did play and sucked at. This video is one of the best videos I've seen about RTS games. Learned a lot

I have been playing starcraft since the original in 1998. I am a high tier Diamond player and I still have learned a LOT from this Bronze video. I wish I had learned a lot of these lessons earlier because then I could have been in Master Tier.

59:18 I did laugh at this part because I did have this learning experience the other day playing as Terran my worse race. Roughly 2500 mmr with all 3 but Terran's my worse. Was winning a game. Thought I had numbers. Just pushed into his 3rd with marines medivacs, few other things thinking I could just bully his 4-5 siege tanks... Nope. Eventually won the game but it took a good 15 minutes longer than it should have. Eventually cleared them out with just a couple of liberators but only after loosing tons of Marines. SMH. Work smarter not harder. Anyways, lesson learned. Great video here. thx.
On a side note, I went to practice this egg to control group mechanic. Had to rewatch this video to figure it out. Insert mind blown gif here. Simply amazing. Could easily see this helping me break the F2 habit. Thank you much.

Thanks so much for this PiG. I was an avid Zerg player waaay back in Wings of Liberty day. Sadly quit before either of the two expansions came out, so it's crazy to watch castings of games with units that I have never even seen before. Never was crazy good - maybe Gold 2 before I'd start losing and get frustrated. But videos like this are giving me the itch to dust this game off and take it for another spin...

@@PiGstarcraft thank you! I don't remember much from the old days, but I do remember that I used to control group my queens and inject by just clicking on the hatcheries on the minimap rather than jumping the camera to each base and boxing each queen. Is that not a better way to do the macro cycle anymore?

I'm a mid-plat Zerg and I've learned a good bit from this video alone. While I think this would've tough for me to do while I was in bronze, I'm glad there is a diversity in educational content for new players. One thing I say sometimes is there's no wrong way to play StarCraft, and I love seeing the difference in philosophy between you and ViBE being fleshed out in your b2gm series

I got into SC2 thanks to you and Lowko, casting really shows how fun this Can be. I was always like uhh i dont wanna learn what units counter what and micro and blablabla. I have yet to play a real game online but ive been doing Ai battles up to Elite (as terran). I could barely beat Hard ai when i first tried it out but, as you say, keep building, saturate your bases, have a tight macro schedule and Then you can worry about what counters what, strategies etc.
Never played zerg once but you made it look so nice and easy so i tried it out vs harder ai, it went well. I dunno who the fuck complained about coppers cant learn this, just Knowing how to rally your workers back fast after an attack, build>set location>build, makes it So much more beginner friendly than i ever thought this game could be. I was really scared of the queen macro, but i bound space to select between home bases (i know its not as good as camera locations but eh) and it works like a charm, very good tips and tricks all in all, keep it up.

M8... Im playing starcraft more then 10 yers ( ye so 2 times a day with few weeks pause here and there). I started playing SC1 in 1997/8 I was allready Diamond 1 few yers a go. But MAN! This Macro circle and adding eggs to control group MAKE MY DAY! I left SC2 becouse of Smerfs in plat (low gm in plat is not what make fun for a plat/ low diamond player) And now im about 3k mmr and there are some hight Diamond/ low master players in bronze/3k. BUT! U give me a hope. I just started learning all stuff u show Macro circle/ making drons/overlords... and stuff like that. And i dont care if there is a low master in my game. I just go to the next game and doing my best with Macro Circle and stuff u showed me. Thx. U make this game nice again for me.

I just started playing SC2 yesterday, I played a few games like 2 years ago, but I had no idea what the units and buildings were. My background in StarCraft is in The original and a little bit in Brood War. I was mostly a Fastest Map Possible player. I'm 38 years old now, and I'm no where near as fast as I used to be, but I was surprised with how many habits I still have with scouting, droning, and army production. I'm still trying to get the build order memorized, and the timing of everything.(I'm slow as heck, also I tend to forget to inject.) I'm only about 15 games of practice in, but following your macro guide at least got me a few wins. I plan on staying the path you've laid out, and I'll continue developing good habits.

Glad he explained the smurf and rules how hell level engage lower ranks. But, apparently it goes over peoples head. Soon as they lose every ones yelling they stink. Just weird.
Anyway, the B2GM is a solid tutorial & good series the sc2 community is all starting to do.
Long as they dont join tournaments I never call anyone smurfing. A gm dumping on a G1 tourny. Now that pisses me off.
BTW: Dont think a silver or gold player is the same as it was 3 years ago due to these tutorials. Mostly everyone is maxing out by the 9 to 10 min mark. Yup all auto attack but if your behind you're done. :)
    Enjoy
    Kay

Pig I tried doing the macro steps for the Zerg. My favorite race. I have never really been too good enough to get wins routinely. So I practiced with the AI for a few games and got a good rhythm. I went on the ladder and played 3 games won each one. Probably a fluke but I just followed the macro steps and there you go I was better than ever thanks man.
