I am so glad for the existance of GoG so I could actually play through the whole game a couple of years ago, I was far too young to understand it properly when it came out.
Dammit, I was a kid in the 2000s and yet this passed me by. But watching this video makes me think I missed out more than missing out on Half Life back in the day.

Nice to see the remake getting a mention! Put a number of hours into helping out the remake but Gamedream is the real hero of that project. Loved this game… I found the key to it was associating the soulcatched soldiers with certain vehicles based on their profiles and it took me a long time to work out korolev belongs in the scavenger. Kroker in the closed stealth buggy, madsen is good with the laser railgun especially in a helicopter (that was a godsend against the alien aircraft) I often found a good strategy was to have kroker in a cloaked stealth spotter vehicle at a good visual vantage point, with your heavy artillery ( missile helicopters, tanks, and snipers ) some distance behind, then you take manual control of a missile hover vehicle and enemies will stay stationary whilst being hit by mortar shells.
I used to play like that early. But when i beat the game tomorrow i deeply understand it and start to play more agressive aaand. It`s never felt so good to beat that misssion with protection cabal city with such ease. But anyway that was intense. Also good tactics is make tank with patton, support him with 1-2 hovercraft with light weapons and just push to the base. when you close to the base use airstrike on most annoing structure, it will lose like 94% of health so you just need a couple of shots or seconds to do 6% of damage while airstrike coming and you good. after that just clean up spot and scavenge all to make ultimate giga sqad to stomp the whole map
I loved this video, it was randomly recommended to me, and I got to watch a bunch, like 30 more of your videos. These rts where you control units were some of my favourite back in the day, but I didn't know almost any, battlezone as the greatest, my kid self would have been loving these. Thanks for covering them
I got this game, in a selection of 6 games when my parents brought a family PC back in the day. It had the Weakest Link, V rally, A cricket game and a game called Sheep in it. Think the PC was an 'E machines' unit. Makes me feel old remembering this!
this brought me back. i liked the fact that one mission could take an hour because for a reason. not like AOE where i crippled the enemy just so i could take my time and explore the maps.

So wait, this game has a system in place that means if you destroy the enemies economy it actually has consequences in game? How old is this game again? Cause I know a lot of modern RTSs that don't have such a system in place.
I have to say the graphics for this game are really impressive and everything moves smoothly, I have never heard of this game, but I can see why it has long time fans, the dev's really did a good job here, as was your review, also I heard a lot of armored core music in the background there, good choice.
Yeah you should, I know you reviewed AC2 along time ago, there sure is much to cover when it comes to the AC series. Yeah the soundtracks are all amazing, worth listening to, outside of the games even.@@salokin3087

Just saw the thumbnail and now this game looks interesting for me to give a shot at. I dont like to compare games but this is something that id like to see for C&C Renegade and Generals when its comes to combining RTS and FPS. Would been really nice but all these games still hold up to their performance.

It's incredibly weird to see communism depicted as something positive and the capitalist class as the bad guys, especially in a videogame from the early 2000s. Had HW been more popular during its time, I bet we'd have seen mass hysteria about "woke propaganda". The game is incredible, by the way - I have very fond memories about it. Actually, thanks for the reminder - I think I'll revisit it when I have a few free evenings.
