Thank you so much Brother Phap Huu, Jo Confino and everyone who helps bring these conversations to the world! Thank you Plum Village and teacher. I feel your warmth, honesty and friendship, as if I am sitting with you. I don't usually post comments- but I felt compelled to post on this last 2021 podcast as a way to reach out across the universe to share my gratitude. This podcast gives me hope and comfort. I stumbled onto your channel by chance after listening to a video where Thích Nhất Hạnh answered questions of children. I was touched by the sincere attention paid to their questions. I so appreciated his thoughfulness and gentlness that I subscribed to the channel. I knew nothing of his years of teaching, it really felt like a lovely accident. I am trying to make it through my own very strong suffering. Sometimes I feel so covered in sadness I can barely breath. It was never like this before- I feel like I don't even know who I am. So I remember what I heard from Plum Village and say, "Hello my saddness- I see you are here to visit me...can my compassion give you a hug?" It makes me smile a bit and reminds me that feelings come and go, they do not define me. I hope I can get better at breathing and mindfulness and be a good caretaker. I am glad to know that there are human beings out there such as yourselves offering relief and joy to others. Please take my deep thanks as small gift for your sharings.🌼
My second time of coming back to this particular podcast. With a second visit I have found deeper meanings in The Three Doors of Liberation. I am greatly grateful for your wisdom and sharing. 🙏
What a delight to listen to yet another wonderful episode! I have so much gratitude for being able to enjoy so much wisdom and liberation in your words, Brother Phap Phu and Joe. Being in Brazil, so far from Plum Village, it is a blessing to receive these teachings from Thay, and to learn and grow with them. Again, thank you so much. 🙏🏻
Thanks Jo and Br. PH. This was another cracking episode and helped clarify for me these three aspects of Buddhist philosophy. Looking forward to learning more with you soon 🙏🏽
Thank you so much for the shared wisdom in ALL of the podcasts!!! What a great idea! The given exemples are very interesting (the stolen money, the running with Thay in the airport etc.). My deep gratitude and a lotus for each of you. Saskia (Belgian, living in France)
I really like this podcast series! I enjoy browsing through them and listening the one that meets my needs or my curiosity at that moment. This podcast has a unique freshness because it is profoundly spiritual, but also a 100% percent human and intimate. I don’t comment much online because I enjoy my privacy, but I let go of that privacy now to just to say there are a lot of us enjoying and loving this podcast. Recently, hearing one of your podcasts I had a moment of intense happiness and clarity which I will treasure for probably the rest of my life. I am certain there are lots of “silent listeners” who don’t comment but really listen to this dialogue as a blessing, a teaching, and a company in their lives. All your efforts are harvesting beautiful fruits and flowers of all sorts….please do continue!!! A lotus flower for each of you Jo and Phap Hu, and everyone in the monastic and lay community who have permitted this to podcast to manifest. Also my ever lasting gratitude and appreciation for our dearest Thay. As we say in my ancestors spiritual tradition: a huge blessing to you all!

Hey Mr. Jo and Br. Phap Huu--listening to this podcast at the end of 2022 and sincerely wishing your community health and happiness in 2023; may it be a more peaceful year than 2022 was. I think I had an 'a-ha' moment when listening to your description of 'aimlessness' and it finally hit me why I have such a hard time with simply sitting and meditating: as a person born and raised in America, I am used to a culture of go-go-go and being 'productive' ALL.THE. TIME. The thought of 'just' sitting and 'doing nothing' just makes my skin crawl. Yet, I can 'sit' at my sewing machine for hours because I am 'doing' something with my hands. Never occurred to me that sitting and meditating IS doing something: improving my mind and transforming my afflictions. I now have a new appreciation for stillness and something to work on for the upcoming year. Many blessings to you and your community; hope to visit Plum Village France one of these days...
And further to this thought as I re-listen to this podcast, I wonder how much conditions such as ADD or ADHD are biological and innate and how much they are formulated based on the society in which we live, or is there a combination of the two??
Thank you. Such a clear explanation of these three doors. I have totally misunderstood them up to today and now I can laugh at myself and how I caught a snake! May you all be blessed with much happiness.
Thank you for yet another great and impactful podcast Bro Phap Phu and Joe. Loved your explanation on the aimlessness Bro Phap Phu. Thank you for making me able to understand the true meaning of aimlessness and all parts of liberation. Looking forward to more of your precious teachings…🙏
I always look forward to these teachings.I find it particularly helpful when an example is given about handling individual situations.eg the stolen wallet.I myself sometimes (not always) fall victim to life when I have honestly felt and given compassion and kindness and this has been abused in some way.I wish to build up alertness to the possibility of this and how to address these situstions.I don't always see them coming! Happy New Year.Blessings.Catherine❤
How did I not realize these are on TH-cam?? I've listened to every episode on Spotify while I'm at work. Each episode has been immensely wonderful. Thank you both :)
I will miss you during this hiatus. I always look forward to Fridays because your podcast always contains something I need just at that moment. Hurry back!
0:12 please know how helpful you are in teaching more difficult teachings. Interbeing is a wonderful and calming idea. We are made of everything!? What a liberating idea. Deep ecology ❤❤❤

Free of ego, free of appearance, free of expectations, ohhh, this is what I need to her, I am enough…thank you both and much blessings. I was runing all my life to be successful like my father and forgot Living my life, I am sad and feel too late for me, I am turning 62. Then I remember age is nothing and we can start all over again, no beginning, no end…
Deciding to not pretend and keep doing what is expected especially around the holidays or various family traditions is a brave way of being and can have its repercussions. You can experience some flashback but it is also freeing.
Thank you for the kind words! What music are you referring to? The intro? If yes, that is not part of a larger piece of music, it's just an intro composed for the podcast. Hope this helps. 🙏🏼
This important teaching moves me greatly. However, it's presentation here undermines it's power. You have relied on ideologically generated assumptions that diminish the teaching. There's no need to use capitalism or oil companies in the way handled here. Not everyone shares your assumptions on these issues, and they provide no meaningful framework for understanding. Indeed, the descriptions here can be seen as naive, especially the story of the Mexican fisherman. Please address these crucial topics in a more culturally sophisticated way.😮 52:00😢
Thank you brother Phap Hu and Joe, it is a joy listen to you

31:35 reminded me of big hero 6 where baymax said Tadashi is here. Everything he is is Tadashi too. The people we care about are never really gone.
