Could this be used for a Save System? Like A save and load menu where when you save it can be overlaid with a uniform grid and a data table to display new information?
Quick question. Is there a distinct advantage to using the overlay over just a regular horizontal or vertical box? Because couldn't you just as easily put all of those things in a box and it would still work just as well?
+Gray Ghost Gaming The biggest advantage to the overlay is you are allowed to "overlay" items where as with a box widget they are intended to be separated. My over lay example shows a progress bar with a name and some stats overlayed on top of the bar. With a Box Widget you would have to have the name, then the progress bar, then the stats next to or vertically one after the other. Yes there are ways of making a Box Widget allow overlay using the offset transform but when you start to resize the widget they might not fit anymore where as an overlay widget using the alignments to keep the other items in the same position.
I hate Unreal's naming convention so much. That component is a container, or panel, in any other editor, across the entire industry. I need to put a god damned overlay on the screen, in VR, and I find this.
You are the glue that holds all the other tutorials together.
Or really, the spackle that fills in all the holes.
After 7 years, i learned something, thank you so much.
Thanks for making your videos so straightforward and concise.
You rock! This is exactly what I was looking for.
thank you sir wadstein, you are a legend
Thank you very much! Your tutorials are very helpful

+Mathew Wadstein Oh, right. That makes sense. Thanks!
Hi Mathew, what is the difference between using an Overlay vs. a Canvas Panel?
I also wonder this.
could you potentially stack buttons on top of this?
Love you man!
Oh my god, got my answer somehow or I'm just dumb :) Wanted to get images on Progress Bar...
Thank you!!
Can I buy you a beer some day?
