  • Enfleurage is a very old perfume method of extracting scents from flowers, that dates back to 18th century France. It’s perfect for using up yuor lovely flowers, so here I’m using rose petals and coconut oil.. The full tutorial can be found here www.savvyhomemade.com/enfleur...

This is nice demonstration of making pomade using non-animal fats - will you be showing the remaining process for extracting the oil?

I wouldn't recommend radiating your coconut oil to melt it or using any aluminum pan much less one coated in teflon (if you don't know how toxic these things are please do your research)
These things can easily be replaced with non-toxic methods or items such as hot water to melt rather than nuking the coconut oil and using a glass dish rather than aluminum. The main idea is very creative and would be fun to try out.

Agreed, i use glass. This process is fun and i enjoyed my learning curve very much. I've finished my Lily of the Valley Enfleurage now, which i started last Spring, having just learned about it and wanted to preserve the scent if i could. I called it "Barely There Lily of the Valley Enfleurage". I used organic coconut oil and no longer can i smell it. I kinda forgotten about it when i came upon the bottle and decided to go with it, again this spring. Since it didn't smell rancid and quite lovely. I will of course now use it up quickly, likely gifting it out or adding to other existing orders for repeat customers. I can say this process is tedious and very time consuming. I will use a different oil next time, maybe Jojoba with a bit of beeswax as i was reading one could use. :) I'd love to hear about your experiences, if you make it..?? Thanks for your time and consideration.

About a year it's said, but i made one (started) last spring and stored it well, in amber bottle in a dark place. I continued on with it and it's fine even this spring, a year later. I just kept it going and hoping for the best. It's lovely! I used Lily of the Valley.

Should we use organic virgin coconut oil or it doesn't matter ??

Refined oil is preferred because it doesn’t smell like coconut

Or if you dont mind the coconut smell, you can use cold pressed coconut oil.

This is what i used and it turned out lovely. I don't smell any of the coconut at all in mine.

Not sure if you're even running this channel anymore for the lack of answers you allowed but i'm going to try anyway. For the end product, do you add say Vitamin E oil, to help preserve it, or is there no way to extend it's life, can you say?
