The re-birth of enfleurage by MANE

  • Developed in Grasse and widely used since the beginning of the 18th century, enfleurage is an ancestral extraction technique that uses animal fat to absorb the aromatic compounds of plants. At MANE, we decided to reinvent enfleurage through a respectful process using natural vegetable oils in order to capture the exact smell of delicate flowers and seize their olfactive signature.
    Paired with our JUNGLE ESSENCE™ supercritical extraction, E-PURE JUNGLE ESSENCE™ is the perfect blend of tradition and modernity, and an open path to new emotional extracts.

    Hello Team MANE ! Principally speaking, isn't enfleurage same as infusion with the only difference between them being using fats solid at room temperature in enfleurage vs using molten fats in infusion ? What could be difference in the aroma profiles of the two processes ? How is moisture removed in both cases as it surely will spoil the fat ? Are any preservatives or antioxidants added to prevent degradation ? I will appreciate your kind response in this regard.

    Which oil is used to extract the fragrance?

      For enfleurage use an oil that is solid at room temperature. Lard, babbasu, coconut, tallow, etc.
      You place the solid oil on a flat tray of glass or use a baking pan. Press flowers into the solid oil , cover and wait 48 hours.
      Pick out the flowers and replace with a fresh batch. Again, wait 48 hours. Remove the spent flowers again.
      You can repeat until the fragrance is how you like it. See ROBERTET, they have a great video on how they do this.
      You can also steep flowers in a liquid oil. That isn't enfleurage but it is a good easy to create an oil infusion.

      @@vinlagothey were asking what's used in the video

    • @vinlago
      @vinlago 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@itsgonnabeanaurfromme the video does not specify. They only say "natural oil". This could be coconut, babassu, kukui, shea or tallow/lard but being in India most likely not an animal oil.
      Regardless, this is why I replied that an oil which is solid at room temperature would work with this method. Preferably one with a neutral scent.
