Awesome stuff!! I was born in Medellin 1967. I have lived in the US for 50 years! Came to Los Angeles in 1973. I am currently retired looking to move back to Medellin. I have family that lives in El Poblado

Arrived today in Manila and checked out the Pablado Metro station. Really impressive. I've lived in NY, SF where the pub transit is really good, but this beats it for sure.
So excited to be here. Actually had tears when we shot out of the Rionegro tunnel and I saw Medellin real-time for the 1st time. No video can do it justice. It is a *magical* city. [We'll see what I say three weeks from now when I leave. ;) ]. Thanks, Lauren, I feel my trips will be much easier for having seen this video. Looking forward to more!

I’m going to Medellin in the next weeks.. where do you recommend to stay if I’m going to a concert in estadio Atanacio girardot. Im debating to stay around the stadium but I also want to stay in poblado cause of the nightlife. If I stay around the stadium do you think I’ll have a hard time getting back home at night? Or if I stay in poblado am I gonna have a hard time getting home from the concert?

    • @laurenlagringa
      @laurenlagringa  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Sorry, I didn’t see this till now, but Medellin is a medium-size city, so it doesn’t matter where you stay, but I would recommend not staying close to the stadium because it’ll be super packed and crowded and loud with drunks, etc.

Thanks for this helpful video. I'll be going to Medellin for my 1st time in a few weeks and plan to use the Metro. If my 1st station will be Poblado or Aguacatala (since that's where my hotel is), can I still get a Civica card? Also, do you know if I take the Metro up to Parque Arvi which requires paying again at the station halfway up, do I use the same card? I understand that the fare however for this last part up to the top is much higher so I guess I need to make sure I have enough on a card for a round trip.

Super job Lauren. You are a great filmer and presenter. The dar papaya or whatever is reflective of the victim blaming culture that's developed there. They really have no choice but to try to be very careful as there's no law and order. Punishments for thefts and assaults are light and perps are rarely caught. The police are about useless and the public for the most part consider them the enemy. I choose to live and vacation places where I don't need to constantly look to my right and left and over my shoulder. That's me though while for some the pluses of Colombia outweigh the negatives. And no, Medellin isn't just as safe as any other big city in the world. That myth continues to die a slow death, though you never made that claim.

Ok... excellent video ...I did enjoyed it very much..
Do not feel like you are unique or out of place ...
I am an American citizen... And I personally were in MEDELLIN for 3 weeks during the month of August of 2023...
I actually dated paisa woman in MEDELLIN and in towns near MEDELLIN metropolis..
All...of the paisa woman from Antioquia are actually very white and very light hair and some are blue eyes and green eyes .. as well... Most Paisa...woman are very petite ... and very fit ...
As a matter of fact one of the main reasons most expats and digital nomads go to MEDELLIN metropolis is because the Paisa woman are the most beautiful woman in the world .... And they are friendly and welcoming ...
The other reason expats like MEDELLIN
Is because MEDELLIN is spectacular and beautiful and extremely affordable..
So do not feel that you stand out in MEDELLIN.....

Actually my girlfriend is white ...very white ...very light long hair and green eyes beautiful green eyes like a Colombian emerald green very petite ...body ... Very fit ...very fit ...
Extremely intelligent ... More intelligent then ..you and I ....and to top it all ...my white Paisa girlfriend is a Medical Doctor ...graduated from Antioquia University school of Medicine ...
And better yet my super gorgeous PAISA girlfriend is only 27 years old ...
Unlike the woman in the USA who are extremely demanding ...mostly old ...most woman in the USA are above 36 years old and older ...
Not only are USA woman very demanding ...they are over weight ...
And many are extremely nasty ...
I was in MEDELLIN during the month of August and I personally had the best time of my life ...and my new girlfriend treats me like I am the last man on planet.. earth ...my Paisa girlfriend treats me like a KING....
I never would get this treatment with any girl in the USA....

She does stand out. Where she wouldn’t stand out in South America is in the state of Santa Catarina in Brazil (known for cities such as Florianópolis). That state has many people of European descent. It’s also a much safer place than all of Colombia.
