      Aaron Cottle keep on mind though this is basic rudiments there are many more. Also this is only one drum more akin to marching percussion. So if you want to write a Drumline piece GREAT this would be the first step, but If you want to write drumset part you have to be able to split different parts on different drums and cymbals. Anyways I wish you the best of luck with your percussion writing!

    I love this, it would be awesome to have a full percussion guide like this, specially for composers, like showing off all the percussion instruments and techniques, giving tips and neat information like this. In fact, it would be cool to slowly get to do this with all the orchestral instruments.

  • @dragonwarden3285
    @dragonwarden3285 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yes, PLEASE do more of these! Very helpful. Can you use these techniques with the other parts of the drum set like the toms or cymbals or are they specific to the snare? I hope this is a start of a series that shows the techniques/articulations with accompanying notation for other instruments too, that would be incredibly helpful. Also, stuff like this, but for orchestral percussion would be amazing, like timpani and things like that.

    I’ve been using musescore to write drumline parts for 3 years now. The amount of variation available with customizing how your music looks is so helpful and it only keeps getting better all for free. At this point if you’re not using musescore to write battery parts, what are you doing?

      If ur talking about on a drum set then yeah I think the only rudiments you need are singles, doubles, and paradiddles maybe even triples if you are playing bebop or higher tempo genres. But they are currently talking about percussion. So marching Snare, Tenors and Bass, in which lots of it is rudiment based.

    • @henne2k
      @henne2k 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ashimotoakai9599 You can aply every Rudiment on the planet to the Drumset. lets say swiss army triplets, but you play the right hand on the Floor tom and the left hand with your bass drum. Or pataflaflas. Great rudiment for playing Samba. The posibilities are endless. And Rudiments are Tools in your box. You just need to experiment with them.

    Its a great video, but you don't know how to teach. You should have done these rudiments very slow so that the inexperienced or beginners could hear and count out the rhythms. Do this video over like your teaching beginners instead of experienced drum corp players.
