  • In this video, I do a couple repairs to my RV screen door, namely replacing the bug screens and replacing a broken lower hinge. Then I attempted to repair the cracking wall inside my outside door with plastic paint, plus upgraded my RV Lock to the latest version. I also give some long-term reviews of the RV Bug Stop, Screen Shot Door Closer, and Camco Screen Door Cross Bar.
    Fair Disclosure: The new upgraded RV Lock model was received free of charge. However, I didn’t receive any monetary compensation for the video, and we personally purchased the original.

    Another great DIY video. Can’t wait for boat versions😊

      With all of the drills😊
      Success today again! Thank you for sharing! Highly appreciated!
      (Seeing the dealer, turning in the old one, simply buying a new one, 'perfectly made by a manufacturer - you have your valuable warranty!' - doesn't come with half the fun.)

    Nice couple of projects. Those digital/push button door locks are pretty convenient.

    You are so very lucky to be where you are. I'm stuck down here near Wickenburg Arizona and it's 115°f here today. Have two AC's and a swamp cooler running and it ain't doing much let me tell ya. Must be nice to be able to be outside fiddling around. It's impossible here Ray!
    HELP!

      Yikes, I feel bad for you, I hate it when it's too hot. :(
      That is a big reason we love summers on Vancouver Island. The cool ocean surrounding helps moderate the heat.

    Now Ray, when door started talking and it freaked Ann out, you could have just given her a blank look and said "what voices dear". Lol. Yep I just got the look from Lois.... again.

    The upgraded RV Lock looks like a great upgrade - My four year old one has already cracked, and is probably ready to fail.
    I replaced the opaque central screen door lock area and latch slider (white on your RV) for clear ones - I really like this - it opens up the whole screen door area.

    Nice job on the screen. Looks easy but for the life of me it’s such an aggravating job.

    Good job on these projects. Too bad the paint didn't work better maybe a peel and stick vinyl would work but the adhesive probably wouldn't last. Formica counter top could work and it would give you an opportunity for new tools.
    I've not had good luck with duracell batteries, seem to leak in a short time. Have had them leak in the package well before their use by date.
    I enjoy your content and am really enjoying watching the cruise vids.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Ray, Someone on the Casita trailer forum recommended Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack cure, if not that, “the pebble finish skin is called FRP or fiberglass reinforced paneling Home Depot and Lowe’s should have it in sheets”.

    Once again very good info. I’m in the process of replacing the screening in the screen door and adding a push bar for opening . Granddaughter likes to just push on the screening to open .

    I really like that lock. Isn't there a way to adjust the tension on that gizmo at the bottom of the screen door, to help slow its closing? If not I'm surprised they overlooked that in the design. I love how industrious you are, Ray. Anne is blessed to have a handy man.

      Just be a spring inside a plastic tube. Here is a look at it th-cam.com/video/ir0tmzBz-To/w-d-xo.html It may work better on the Lippert door it was designed for versus my Challenger door.

    My door on our 2017 Keystone Montana 305RL is cracking also. Until i figure out a permanent fix I'm going to stop drill the cracks and fill them with white exterior caulking.

    It's not hard at all to get a sheet of FRP and replace the inner door panel. They make the silicone panel to replace it on the lock.

    Um, only applying one coat of this plastic paint stuff?
    I would definitely being doing two. Never found one coat of any paint covers enough 🤔. 🍻

    How have you kept your doors from sagging over time? My screen door especially hangs up on the toe kick due to the wife and kids putting too much downward pressure on it when opening from the outside. I'm guessing most of the sag is in the flimsy screen door frame. Any thoughts appreciated.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess we are fairly easy on it. Also, I think what helped was the addition of the grab bar. It screws in across the frame and helped firm it up as an extra support member to keep it square. You may be able to take the door off and bend it back square and add some extra support bars. Cheers, Ray

      Get the wife and kids to fix it, then they’ll be sure to keep their leaning paws off it, lol. 🍻

    Happy to see you doing a video on RV stuff again. After 9 boating videos in a row, I was about to unsubscribe. I'm sure some enjoy the boating videos but I don't have a boat so I have no interest in that.

      Should have several more RV related before the end of the month, then RV goes to storage yard and boating videos until October when we switch back to the RV for 6-7 months of RV videos.

    Hmmm, high tech lock on a plastic door?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  ปีที่แล้ว

      The high tech part of it is for our convenience. If we are talking about damaging things to gain entry then a pretty easy one would be to bust out the window beside the door and reach in and open it. RVs are pretty hard to defend against serious criminals given some time.
      Locks are usually for crimes of opportunity, ie. people checking doors to find one unlocked. We had a sketchy looking druggie dude do that a couple week ago. He gave it a try and moved on. Locks also help with insurance claims.
