Personally, I’ve always preferred the headphone socket on the top, as it allows me to rest the bottom edge of the handheld on my chest when playing it in bed.

One thing to consider compared to the RP2+ and the Odin, the RG552 is available the other ones arent. I ordered all 3 devices 2 months ago, and I have had the RG552 to play with for 1,5 month now while the RP2+ and the Odin do not even have any indication on when they will ship at all.
This point exactly, and it also depends on the third party sellers. in my situation, rp2+ is at the same price point of the 552, and you have to wait for restocking. the retroid is stronger but that's all there is to it compared to the 552. the screen res of the 552 alone is more than enough to beat retroid p2+, that is however because i prefer to play psp games on a vita rather than anywhere else so i won't play those games on these devices anyway.
The same still seems to apply (in the UK anyway). I'd prefer the RP2+, as the RG522 arrived screwed up, but getting one at a reasonable price seems tricky at the moment.
I think the reason that they are moving into the larger handheld market is just because of the current limitations of affordable processors. Ambernic have already done as much as they can with the rg352m, other than itterating on different form factors, I think that niche has been fully explored for now.
While I agree with the general sentiment "don't buy it" (not quite powerful enough and clunky software), I wish more people would give Anbernic more credit for the screen. The idea that they didn't do anything new here is just not fair. As someone who got into these handhelds to replace my GBA (not to play home consoles) I'm glad SOMEONE finally took the time to develop a screen that can give you good integer scaling for GBA's wonky resolution, while still providing good real estate for 4:3 and 16:9 games. This in itself is revolutionary for handhelds, frankly. As a pixel purist, I would never buy an Odin. 16:9 is ONLY good for PSP games (and I guess Android games). What good is emulating PS2 games, if most of your games have black bars around them? That's just poor design.
I agree with a lot of the things you said but also disagreed a lot. I don't think the Odin I'd bad design I think it's trying to be a jack of all trades, dont forget it's also a streaming device. But yeah I do think the 552 is the best device for gba and I don't think that'll change for quite some time.
"as a pixel purist" what an embarrassing thing to admit. Stop convincing yourself you can't tolerate black bars and just enjoy better quality screens. Calling something bad design because it doesn't cater to your incredibly absurd niche desires is just the height of stupidity.
Very disappointing. This is the one I was looking forward to most this year because of how great the 351MP is. I personally really like the basic/brick-like design. But the competition destroys this thing.
I’d rather pay 140 bucks for the RP2+ shipped from retroid and mess with PSP and some GameCube on a smaller screen than pay close to 300 to have bad performance with both on a nicer screen. There’s no value to the rg552 in this market but I feel like the RP2+ can provide a bridge between the current handhelds out and the next generation like the Odin. I’d buy it for that reason if I was just getting into this stuff. I did own a 351P and it seems to fill that same spot though.
@@jamesyu5212 I have the RP2+ and it plays PSP just fine as well as some GC and Wii games and a few PS2 games and all DC games. The 552 isn't as powerful bottom-line.
About 2 months ago I actually saw the RG552 and decided to get the RG351MP instead. Id gladly pay more for a better retro handheld but it doesn't seem like the price to performance ratio of RG552 is worth it.
@@danthaman03 Yea it's been great! The size is perfect for on-the-go gaming. My only gripe is it's a bit too small for long play. My hands will cramp up.
If you can't get the aspect ratio correct, then don't bother. What is the use of a bigger screen if most of it is going to be black bars -- or, even worse, it gets stretched.
I recently ordered one of these and had to send it back. It was totally broken on arrival with constant resetting, Google services crashes and black screens. I may try another one but at this price point, you'd really expect better quality.
I got one of these and didn't use it for a couple months. When I finally went to charge it and use it for a trip, the battery wouldn't hold a charge and the device wouldn't turn on.
I agree with a lot of what you said, but I own the RG552 and I think it's fantastic. For the price, you're getting 2 devices in 1, so say on one side, you're getting a cheap Android phone but with a beautiful looking touch screen, unlike most cheap Android phones, so say $150 for that. On the other side, you're getting an RG351P, running Linux, but with a bigger screen, which goes for about $100 on Amazon, so overall it's about $250 worth of devices rolled into one. Granted, the price could have been more reasonable around the $180-200 range. On the Linux side, I got 351ELEC beta installed and it runs incredibly well. On the Android side, the latest update I installed included both the Google Play store and key mapping functions which are very helpful for games like Call of Duty or Genshin Impact. I got DIG installed on the Android side so it makes browsing through your games a little easier. I may try LaunchBox though as they have preview videos. This thing also has HDMI out, so it's almost like a docked Switch. Overall, I'm enjoying the device very much, but yes, they could have changed some ergonomics and charged a little less. But not too much less though because this thing does not feel cheap. It feels great in the hands and the controls are wonderful.
Great video and up to 2:00 ... perfect 👌 / Agreed ... they make to many handhelds 😅 ? I had this feeling you where going to strow this Handheld somewhere in the video 😂 Edit - Yes... they wait for Russ / Retro Game Corps to make piles of tutorials 🤣
Love it, best screen I've ever seen on any of these devices. Maybe the power isn't up to snuff but theres not a better way to play 32 bit games and below on the market due to the high resolution 5:3 screen that scales to older console ratios far better than a 16:9 screen does. I also have little issue getting any of the PSP games I play to run at 4x resolution, but I'm mostly into the Japanese games which don't push the system as much so mileage may vary.
This video came out too late for me... I bought the RG552 the moment I heard about it. And I received a dead system. I bought it on Aliexpress (Anbernic's official shop) so I asked for help from Anbernic. And the answer was: the seller is no longer on Aliexpress! Wow, so Anbernic closed shop? Lol Seriously though, I would like to pick your brains on my problem. When I plug the machine in, there is just a blinking yellow light, and the system does not start up. Does anyone have an idea on the problem? Thanks in advance!
Feels like Anbernic was caught off guard with the release of a PS2 emulator. They thought they could get away with only a mediocre upgrade and a bigger screen for a hefty price. In this market companies cannot afford to get lazy, or all attention goes to the new players in town that do stuff better.
@@Alexey65536 Exactly.. I mean what’s the point of that big screen, if you can’t even completely enjoy PSP. Brandon should have also brushed on the fact that we only got 2.4ghz wifi and NO BLUETOOTH. At the price it’s going for it feels like utter robbery.
@@jimbonater Ikr and that's why the RG552 is such a horrible deal.. It shouldn't even exist tbh. I'm not a fan of the RP2+ because of the small 4:3 screen and how much more square the whole thing is. But I'd 100% still go for that over the horribly valued RG552. It's amazing how Anbernic even remotely thought they could get away with it. In my opinion it's such a massive disrespect to the community who has highly endorsed them for years now. It's sad how they're blatantly trying to abuse the market. Anbernic is definitely gonna go out of business I think if this continues.
Been following the Odin for quite some time now and am shocked the RG552 just doesn't have any positives going for it... and my name is RG Geek after all! But really, AYN and Odin are knocking it out of the park. I'm curious to see if the Odin Lite will be cheaper and outperform the RG552!
Mine came with the play store and emulators installed, and didn’t have the audio issues you experienced. But I prefer to use the custom Linux rom regardless. I wish these things would just be good out of the box…. The shoulder buttons suck, so I just avoid games that use L2 and R2. Having fun with it, but does seem like the Ayn will replace it for me, which I pre ordered. I feel like the steam deck will replace large screen retro handhelds for me, and I’ll still carry the 351MP as a portable pocket handheld.
This is a very fair and accurate review, Its not pocket friendly. I think they dropped this a little late. Im more of an Android fan, But it does require work to get it how you like. If you already have a better performing device then I guess you can live with the problems this device may pose. Again a they dropped this too late with what they have out now. As far as PC Handhelds go they have their work cut out, they could get by with better price options. Thanks for another awesome review 👍🔥.
I don’t want a pocket handheld. Which handheld is better that is equally priced and the same size? Also, I’m in agreement in that I don’t want to spend lots of time on set up.
I'm happy with my decision to buy a Retroid Pocket 2+ and ignoring the RG552 for an upgrade for my 351P. I think your review (or rant, if you prefer this) is very comprehensible.
Personally, I don't care for screens that are too small given my eyes are not good with the 3.5" screens. I'm not even sure I should be worrying about anything under 6".
Maybe I'm misunderstanding, so hopefully someone here can correct me if I'm wrong, there's an extra option for the RG552 and now the new RG503 that gives you an additional micro sd that has all the games already on it, am I correct? So if that's the case can't people just spend the extra few bucks and not have to deal with the hassle...?
I thought about getting the ANBERNIC 552 but decided to get the PowKiddy X17 instead. I think if you are going to sell it for $200, at least go ahead and give us a 7 inch display.
People I know who have bought this have had the Play store installed and emulators pre-installed along with a full catalogue of ROMs which worked out of the box. They were able to add additional emulators and ROMs themselves, but the pre-installed ones were functional with no "tinkering" required. Also - you mentioned that the only benefit of Android is a nicer looking UI - what about the fact it allows game streaming services to be installed? Game Pass, AntStream etc. all have Android apps which make a compelling argument for the Android OS over the Linux one - and makes this a modern gaming device as well as a retro emulation device. Whilst I'm sure this device has its flaws, I fear some of your arguments do as well. The Odin sure seems to be the better device, and seems to only be about £40-50 more expensive in the UK, but the RG552 still has a lot of positives. For me the biggest downside is the shoulder buttons, everything else I could be quite happy with.
I admit, I am late to the party on this one... I just purchased my RG552 recently, but I am really impressed with it. I am running custom Android 9.0 and have Gapps installed, and I really love it. I would say the only two negatives would be the L and R buttons I wish they were flared, and I wish that there was a bit better design overall, more comfortable. The second of course is 5G and Bluetooth without having to purchase an adapter. It plays everything I want in retro gaming up to PS1 and Dreamcast. It also plays Real Racing 3 fantastically well, and F1 from the Google Play store. Overall, I really enjoy it. I only paid $140 CAD for mine, which makes the deal taste a bit better, too.
This. RetroDodo is not doing a great service to the community with these clickbaiting videos. The RG552 is a great device (when you get a functional one hehe) now, people seems to forgot that "retrogaming" is about well, uh, retro-games. The RG552 can play the entire NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, Master System, MegaDrive, MegaCD, Sega32X, GameGear, TurboGrafx-16, TurboGrafx-CD, NeoGeo, NeoGeoPocket, PS1 catalogues (Fullspeed and with amazing latency performances), plus a lot of Arcades, PC Ports and ScummVM games on JELOS now. On the Black-Seraph Android 9 it plays the entire NDS catalogue, a lot of N64 games and all the best Saturn games fullspeed (really, I'm not joking, if one doesn't know where to put hands it's better to stay silent). And it has a beautiful screen, seriously. The only abysmal thing is the battery life and some QC issues on some units. Overpriced? Maybe, but so why the RG351MP was one the best device of 2021 according to RetroDodo? 180$ for that thing? That was really overpriced hehe.
Great honest review pointing out the device's glaring flaws. For people who just want a game and don't wanna tinker and deal with all this devices BS this is not the machine for you.
What is said in the video is right. I have the rg552, mine came with google play and both os. I had to upgrade the linux one but otherwise it works fine. The RP2+ is clearly better and cheaper except for the screen I found. He is right in the end... there is not much reason to buy it, there is better like the Odin (from what I saw, I don't have it). Still it is not that "mediocre", I use it quite often and it is working well. But true, it lacks innovations.
The D-Pad on top and symmetrically in line with the buttons is my personal preference. I sold my original RG350 because it felt awkward and got a later Anbernic device. I won't get a Retroid because of the button layout, shame companies don't offer both options.
I feel like this would be worth buying for me if the price wasn't so high. But I do hope as time goes on, the community can improve the device to optimize it.
What is the best handheld for n64 emulation? That is my main thing i am looking for. Any suggestions? I have an analogue pocket so i have some of the earlier consoles already available to me.
Every Anbernic has felt like this for me except maybe the 351p. I just always felt they were overpriced, underspecced, and sold well because they have that premium console feel and look, which does count for something. These days though, they have hefty competition in the low cost space from the Retroid Pocket 2, the Odin in the mid tier, and Steam Deck/Odin in the higher end. They will no longer be able to make basic consoles that look nice, feel nice, and cost more than the competitors. Competition is good, so I hope they figure this out. Great review btw!
I have the RG552 and I've enjoyed using it so far. I will agree that it's not the most comfortable to hold, but a simple 3D printed model, modified from the 351 holder file, fixed that issue easily. My biggest concern with something like the Ayn Odin is the whole IGG thing. I've enjoyed each one of my previous Anbernic handhelds and this one fit the bill for me. I'm thrilled to see that the Odin is doing well and I can't wait for the next iteration, but for this price range, I'd be a little nervous about sinking nearly $300 on a handheld that might not actually ship and have other issues - but I'm super glad that most people have been happy with their Odin handhelds so far. The ports being on the top is preferred by me, I don't know who is still using wired headphones much anymore, Bluetooth has been perfectly fine. The stock Android that came with mine was perfectly fine, Play Store was already included. It is a bummer that it's only Android 7, but it works perfectly fine, I haven't felt a reason why I would need anything newer. Honestly, for me, I spent about 10 minutes getting it set up to start playing my ROMs, I didn't have nearly the same woes that you described. I really do hope for better handhelds from Anbernic in the future, but I'm also looking for Ayn's success with the Odin and continued growth in this space - a win for all.
I wonder if he tried to disasemble it and apply mx4 beneeth the heatsink to see if that helps with the thermal dissipation, thus lowering the power usage/ increasing the playtime...
I am new to these hand held consoles. I own a Powkiddy RGB10 Max & two cheap X7 consoles... the RGB10 came with a 128gb sd wit emuelec on it, but it needs to be updated to use the Wi-Fi feature... But I am afraid that if I do anything to the memory card it will be corrupted.. What are some good websites for downloading the roms & the firmware I need?
I recently got the 552 and I am LOVING it. I did get it over Odin because I intend to run the pure retro systems -below PlayStationx, and this is the ONLY handheld that supports linux / batocera / retropie kind of, in a big screen -and a fantastic one. Sure, it could use more hours of battery, but I have not yet seen anything else meeting those criteria yet. I am not going Android. Different user needs, different handhelds :)
Taki recently noted that one of the Odin team had got Debian to boot on the Odin so expect a Linux firmware running in due course. It also can run Windows.
I was aware of the RGB10 as well, but the design and screen did not convince me compared to 552. It is a good thing that the Odin is getting linux as well, yet I have no doubts that there will be better devices in the future, so I acted on their status today.
I have a 552 ...the battery failed after 5 weeks. When I try to charge I get a blinking yellow light. Anbernic says they won't sell me a replacement battery and they won't fix it. I agree ...don't buy it.
I like retro games because it brings back memories but I don't know how to update the software, download games, or tickering with the settings.... I just work on cars. It's like asking a gamer to rebuild a Chevy 3500 Transmission. The info is on the internet...
You did not mention the biggest issue I had with it, the SD card that came with it was formatted in a format that is not supported with android 7, so I could only use the linux side untill I made a new card.
For me I just ordered one for the display resolution and device size. I wanted something bigger and one that the majority of games scale without smoothing anomalies.
Hey RetroDodo/TH-cam fam, gonna order my first handheld thanks to this great channel but struggling between Retroidpocket2+ and the Anberbic 351MP. I was leaning towards Retroidpocket2+ but it doesn't tell me how long the pre order would take? Discarding that any suggestions?
Hey dodo, I am thinking about entering into the retro handheld scene. I am going to buy my first ever handheld which one would you recommend Miyoo Mini or Rg280v?
It really just depends on you, they both seem pretty well made. "Retro game corps" just did a video comparing these two devices pretty thorughly. Personally I have an rg351v and am trying to convince myself I dont need a miyoo mini or a RP 2+.
Haha, I'm waiting for my RG351V and I already got some stickers from sakura out of France! This finally will be my perfect Gameboy and hopefully last device for a Lot of time. Great video, stay healthy and best wishes from Germany! Chris
Mine came with the Play store, and roms , but the Linux side (batocera) was a total disappointment. I can’t put the device in sleep mode with the provided Linux image. You have to power the unit off to turn the screen off. This is amateur hour stuff! I had to install a very beta version of 351ELEC to even be able to suspend the system!
My 351m couldn't emulate AM2R very well at all. It had slow button response input and a screen lag. Can anyone recommend the RG552 for AM2R port without those problems? If its better, I could see this as an upgrade for me.
Just wait until you see the finish wear off around the buttons and analog sticks after just a few days of use! It certainly feels sturdy, but don't feel it too much. You'll wear the paint off. For those who have this device and want to keep it pristine, don't touch it. Just leave it in the box and admire it from afar. That was just the tip of the iceberg for me.
This is one of the downsides to painting a shell a dramatically different color than the injected plastic. The original version of this was painted the exact same color as the plastic. They switched to this metallic design because it was voted as the best by people at the company.
@@TakiUdon That's interesting to know and thanks for the reply. I'm a sub of your channel and was surprised to see this. :) True about painting the shell a different color, but if that's the case, then they should have used more than one thin coat of paint. I mean, this stuff wore off literally within 3-4 days of moderate use while testing the unit and configuring/tweaking. So, while not the best choice of finish, it still could have been done better. Cheers, Taki.

Just come across this new handheld and your video review was the first proper review. Its made up my mind, I won't be buying one. Thanks for a great video! Love the accent too 👍
The RG351P is the best handheld they made but it’s still messy because it has unnecessary games that are too powerful to work. Anbernic really needs to cleanse itself up. This is why Odin is preferred a lot more. I still dislike Odin doesn’t come with games but it looks like that will be how most handhelds would be.. Not entirely a bad thing once you get into Emulation
I don't think you understand where and why these handhelds exist. They are made by Chinese companies without any licenses, because they run ROMs which is not legal unless you own the original software. The only reason these handhelds are a thing, is because they have sold well. They push the current Hardware to its limit, and use open source software. I personally like these devices, including the Retroid 3. Nothing can be said bad about them, because they do things that they technically should not be able to. Specifically playing ROMs of other systems using emulator software. And also doing it very well.
You need to review the iPega PG-9217B Retractable Wireless Controller I missed that I can't decide if it's cool looking or ugly :) but when in use its a nice controller comfortable to hold for a long time because it has grips to hold on to
frankly I would have left the rg552 chipset on the rg351mp and on the rg552 I would have mounted a more powerful chipset like a snapdragon 845, because for 300 euros that chipset is too little! the anbernics are excellent consoles but the policy of its prices, very high in relation to the performance, I don't like it at all!
Good enough device, get a travel case off wish or aliexpress. Going for the "candy bar" style, good form factor for dual analog games. Even with the included screen protector, good idea to get a case. This is a newer system, yes open source emulatiion isn't perfect. Improvements are made constantly though, several custom firmware/os versions to download and try, one might work better depending on what you want, or get extra micro usb cards and flash them, use them all?
Great Revie...Rant. unfortunately if you are after a big screen linux device, you only got the RGB10max (2) as the alternative. And with the 552's 5:3 aspect ratio, almost every game look amazing when upscaled with minimal black bars (7x upscale gba anyone???), This should have been a 150 device, or 170 with the "anbernic tax"
I wanted an upgrade to my RG350, but skipped straight past the 552 and grabbed myself an Ayn Odin instead, purely because of the spec and price comparison. Also have a Steam Deck preordered, the Odin will be for taking out with me, while the Steam Deck will stay at home with my Switch mainly.
Personally, I’ve always preferred the headphone socket on the top, as it allows me to rest the bottom edge of the handheld on my chest when playing it in bed.

You can enable widescreen hacks for ps2
@@vagrantenderSome ps2 games also support widescreen in their settings as well.
yeah this review assumes people are going to be sticking with stock operating systems
I want the Ayn odin Badly the price is no issue I just don't understand the website wish they would sell it through Amazon or ali Express or something
Very disappointing. This is the one I was looking forward to most this year because of how great the 351MP is. I personally really like the basic/brick-like design. But the competition destroys this thing.
Yup 😩
Oh and it was $111 shipped
The steam deck sucks and the Odin is basically a phone with a built in controller this has been proven to be the best after all the smoke cleared
I didn't know this hobby existed until today but I can tell I'm going to be neck deep in it soon.
I started about 5 months ago myself lol and yes I’m hooked with 5 different devices lol😅
About 2 months ago I actually saw the RG552 and decided to get the RG351MP instead. Id gladly pay more for a better retro handheld but it doesn't seem like the price to performance ratio of RG552 is worth it.
Are you happy with your rg351mp?

Do not charge these devices with modern "fast charging" USB bricks for phones. As with dualshock 4's, it will destroy the battery, sometimes instantly
I had this feeling you where going to strow this Handheld somewhere in the video 😂
Edit - Yes... they wait for Russ / Retro Game Corps to make piles of tutorials 🤣
Ugh don't get me started on the headache of making guides for this device! 😊
@@RetroGameCorps Whahaha.... 😆
We love all your videos. Whether we have the devices or not 😅
Love it, best screen I've ever seen on any of these devices.
I wouldn't expect a person who stretches 4:3 games to 16:9 to appreciate pixel perfect scaling.
Lol
Seriously though, I would like to pick your brains on my problem.
It was meh from the beginning. At this price one could expect at least PSP emulation working flawlessly. Alas, it cannot pull out even that.
@@Justin-xi6ue RP2+ has 5GHZ and Bluetooth lol
Gimme an Retroid Pocket 3 with a faster processor, 5 in screen and switch DPAD to the top and I'd be happy
The 3.5 inch screen on the 2+ just kills it for me.
@@HALFSQUASHED Agreed the screen is just to damn small if RP would just upgrade the screen size I would easily pay $150 for their handheld

Up your own arse, no? Way ahead…yawn.
Been following the Odin for quite some time now and am shocked the RG552 just doesn't have any positives going for it... and my name is RG Geek after all! But really, AYN and Odin are knocking it out of the park. I'm curious to see if the Odin Lite will be cheaper and outperform the RG552!
Good points (Blacklist incoming though). 😔
I bought one and liked a lot! thanks for the advice! 👍
I don’t want a pocket handheld. Which handheld is better that is equally priced and the same size? Also, I’m in agreement in that I don’t want to spend lots of time on set up.
OMG man turn on integer scaling. Looking at retro games stretch to widescreen is anuerism inducing.
per odin costs much more if customs import taxes are added. also upgrade to 1.3 with key mapping
If you're telling me not to buy Anbernic 552, Which handheld should I buy instead to play Portmaster games?
I have this device l, and it came with just a 16gig SD card. I was wondering if I could buy a SD card with more game? And from where ?
So it comes preloaded with games right? Honestly I just wanted it to play NES games.... but I don't want to buy one if they aren't preloaded.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the honesty. That is why I follow your channel and have the "bell notification"
Thanks for stopping by.
an all retro-handheld devices you had to tinker, actually more on the Android ones.
What do you think of the 552 vs the 405m, or should I spend the extra and get the win600?
For 150 dollar range what is good to get im new to this so im not sure been thinking about the 406h
3:44 when your mind wanders, thinking about all the bricks you MIGHT want to spend $230 on..
Does anyone know what the color of the underneath material is?
I don't know what is better for scratches: the light or dark gray version.
It's $199 on amazon now but I don't know if it's worth it still.
Now a year later is there anything that emulates Dreamcast and N64 well for under $200
I recently got the 552 and I am LOVING it.
You could've saved a hundred bucks by getting the RGB10 Max 2.
I was aware of the RGB10 as well, but the design and screen did not convince me compared to 552. It is a good thing that the Odin is getting linux as well, yet I have no doubts that there will be better devices in the future, so I acted on their status today.
I found a Book Off selling this device locally for $180. Would it be worth it at that price?
I have a 552 ...the battery failed after 5 weeks. When I try to charge I get a blinking yellow light. Anbernic says they won't sell me a replacement battery and they won't fix it. I agree ...don't buy it.
Yes, but if I can't buy Odin (I'm from Serbia) what should I do?! Buy eventually RG552?
Great review. You are right about everything. I did buy the rg552 and I love it because of the screen.
I like retro games because it brings back memories but I don't know how to update the software, download games, or tickering with the settings.... I just work on cars.
It's like asking a gamer to rebuild a Chevy 3500 Transmission. The info is on the internet...
So this being one of the first videos ever considering a handheld emulator, do I still go for that earlier MP model then?
You did not mention the biggest issue I had with it, the SD card that came with it was formatted in a format that is not supported with android 7, so I could only use the linux side untill I made a new card.
For me I just ordered one for the display resolution and device size. I wanted something bigger and one that the majority of games scale without smoothing anomalies.
Can people explain why get something like this over a Switch?
It's a shame that they didn't succeed with this considering they had cornered the market on retro handhelds at that price point.
Cheers Brandon, can't really argue with that. The suspicion is the Odin Lite is going to make things even tougher too.

My issue was I would accidentally hit the power button had to get a grip for it.
Mine came with the Play store, and roms
, but the Linux side (batocera) was a total disappointment.

True about painting the shell a different color, but if that's the case, then they should have used more than one thin coat of paint. I mean, this stuff wore off literally within 3-4 days of moderate use while testing the unit and configuring/tweaking. So, while not the best choice of finish, it still could have been done better. Cheers, Taki.

Thanks for the review. Ordered!
Would buy it if it was as small as the 351mp.. i hate how long it is.
Its impossible to find a Ayn Odin in AU
Again where did you get that lava lamp
You need to review the iPega PG-9217B Retractable Wireless Controller I missed that I can't decide if it's cool looking or ugly :) but when in use its a nice controller comfortable to hold for a long time because it has grips to hold on to
frankly I would have left the rg552 chipset on the rg351mp and on the rg552 I would have mounted a more powerful chipset like a snapdragon 845, because for 300 euros that chipset is too little! the anbernics are excellent consoles but the policy of its prices, very high in relation to the performance, I don't like it at all!
Can you give me advice on which model I should get? I want to be able to play older retro games as well as Dreamcast and PSP.
rg551p/m/mp
Good enough device, get a travel case off wish or aliexpress. Going for the "candy bar" style, good form factor for dual analog games. Even with the included screen protector, good idea to get a case.
This is a newer system, yes open source emulatiion isn't perfect. Improvements are made constantly though, several custom firmware/os versions to download and try, one might work better depending on what you want, or get extra micro usb cards and flash them, use them all?
I just got the RG351mp and love it- but I would like a bigger screen
You know that the RG552 comes with the play store for months now? ;d
I'm planing buying this because Ayntech don't ship to my country
It seems like it's just a buffed up version of the 351... Sort of
I'd rather they'd just kept the size and screen of the RG351MP and used this processor to make an RG352.
I agree. Not interested in Switch-sized handhelds.
The volume button has stopped me bying this...
