My Father and I just couldn't get to that place once I reached about 15 and thought I knew everything. Matt has total respect and courtesy towards his Father. Ermagherd! I can't believe that I'm just now getting to find this video2 days after you posted it! But in my defense, I've been really sick and tho I was really bored, I also wasn't thinking straight. I don't think I've been this sick and not hospitalized before. But our local hospital is overrun and not able to take anyone. And since I don't have covid, I'm just better off staying home. It was working out well until we found out that my grandchildren were all exposed to covid Monday and Tuesday at school. So I'm at a loss for anyone who can go to town for me until they and their parents are all cleared.

      The boat is under power. They have a remote helm station on the back rail where they can control the rudder and prop speed(fwd or reverse) along with starting and stopping the long line reel. it's on the starboard side of the back rail. At 14:42 the station is to the left of Dad(in orange) The lines with blue covers control the reel and the black handle is the throttle and steering is dial
      at 14:45 he adjusts the throttle and soon after he is adjusting the reel speed(hydraulics)

    That made no sense to me. I keep hearing this per lb price like you said $35 p/lb for your allotment. That is more than you are selling it for? I know I'm missing something here
    That's nice when the two of you can barely pull that barn door over the rail. Hope you get plenty of them this year. Hey wait one minute here! You said you have to measure every halibut coming over the rail. There were a few you didn't measure like the one at 26:50??? I felt bad for the fish laying under that one, they just got flattened out a little more...lol

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brin. I believe I was referring to the price one would pay to buy the harvest rights for halibut quota when I mentioned $35 a pound. These are permanent rights and remain in effect until you sell the quota, so a one time purchase. The price for quota fluctuates and has been between $35 to $50 a pound this year.
      As far as measuring every fish. I was talking about ones that are obviously undersized still must be measured before being released. If you are confident a fish is legal you do not need to measure it, however if you overestimate the length and keep undersized fish and get caught....Trouble! Hope this explains, if not let me know.
      Cheers!

    • @brinkee7674
      @brinkee7674 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EISAlaska I kind of figured that about the rights after I had thought about it. at first I thought you were talking about yearly fees which is why it made no sense. So that is what one might pay when they buy into the rights(first year)
      Of course I knew that about measuring, I guess I forgot my lol after that but I thought the next sentence covered it. Just take about 75% of what I say as sarcasm lol
      Be Well and stay healthy, half the folks I know(maybe more) have that dang covid. Not me thank goodness

    I love watching your videos. Your family is so blessed as I’m sure you already know. It’s apparent that the fruit of the spirit of God is upon your family. We would love to purchase some of these delicious looking fish you all catch which brings me to my next reason for commenting, do you ship to Georgia? I’ve been in the logistics industry for over 20 years and the lower 48 is what I dealt with. I never handled any shipments outside the lower 48 therefore I have no idea as to the air freight schedules and destinations you all have to contend with. Just about any state can offer 2 day shipping, some offer next day freight. I will be on a short one week vacation next week starting on 08/07/2023. When we return I would like to place an order for 30lbs of cod, halibut, in a combo mix or whatever is in season and most of all your recommendation because we have no idea as to what’s best or in season. We eat lots of red snapper , ocean trout, red fish and grouper , we love them all especially those we catch ourselves, for recreation of course. Please advise when you have the time, again thanks for allowing us to share in your family business.
