I find this series strangely comforting. I was showing it to my brother and said that it's like when we were kids and one of us would take our turn on the N64 for an hour before bed. Just some simple content to enjoy, and it's got a nostalgic feeling for me. Hope to see you do OOT in this manner as well!
The chickens are in trouble! Eggs are so expensive because avian flu is going around and taking out a bunch of chickens, so there's a huge egg shortage at the moment. Once that calms down, prices should go back down
Don’t forget that a lot of vaccines use eggs in their production; high demand for many different vaccines reduces the amounts of eggs available for circulation. So what you said reduces supply and what I said increases demand which would combine to amplify the price increase even further.
Not to mention the normal high gas prices rising more and causing everything else to go up in price as an added effect. So sick chickens, vaccine ingredients, and expensive gas makes us pay way more for a simple dozen of eggs now. Gotta love the way the world works.
STOP 🛑. don't EVERR apologie for yesterdays video we love your content and enjoy listening to what you talk about because a lot of us go through the same shit you're going through and with no one to talk to about it , it helps us cope keep them coming
I am really happy that you are getting and seeking the treatment you need for your depression I've been watching your channel for years now and it's nice to see you acting more upbeat and silly like you used to in your older videos, it's nice to see videos like this where it feels like you're actually enjoying what you're doing again
The egg price increase definitely has to do with the avian flu! I volunteer at a wildlife clinic that mostly handles birds so that's been a huge concern for us lately. We've been in panic mode trying to keep the place clean and sanitized and avoiding any spreads within the clinic itself. Also don't worry about the last episode being too high-energy, I'm nursing a terrible cold and I needed the happy energy, lol.
About the eggs, two things causing recent price increase: 1) a lot of vaccines use eggs in their production; high demand for many different vaccines reduces the amounts of eggs available for circulation. 2) chickens dying from Avian flu So you have more than usual demand for eggs and less supply so price increases would expect to be quite dramatic.
When I was younger I didn't know how to beat snowhead; I made a mob hit me over the fence out of boredom not knowing it was some major speedrunning trick; Got the zora mask and hookshot early and I used the hookshot to then beat snowhead seq breaking. My child brain couldn't solve a simple method of punching the ice pillar in the middle of the major room... Edit: Never beaten the game when I was a child tho u_u Edit 2: TBF As a kid I thought it would be physically impossible to move a huge object like that with a punch. So can you blame me?! like Zelda on n64 was some of the first 3D gaming I had
Yea, Eggs going up sucks ass. Avian flu did a number, plus tornados in Kentucky did a number on them too. Eventually, once the market balances back out, the cost of eggs will go back down. Farmers still need to recover.
As a vegetarian myself (though I eat eggs and share your frustration about the recent prices!) I’m certainly under no illusions about what my individual actions can accomplish. I’ve always been of the mind that if you think your actions can change the world, then your idea of the world is too small to be accurate. That said, together, vegetarian demand has absolutely increased the amount of options I personally have at restaurants and grocery stores now, even if it hasn’t dented the meat industry, so that’s been less of a hassle at least.
That's the thing, a lot of these companies are not struggling with profits, they just went from making a humongous profits to still pretty big profits. That's why the cost of goods is increasing, because they're upset they're not able to buy a third yacht
Don't have to apologize at all for anything man, yesterdays episode was cool, todays episode is cool and I'm sure tomorrows episode will be just as cool. Who knows, maybe you'll stub your toe before recording and you'll have an angry or mildly irritated episode. We watch you for your relatability man. Keep being one of the real ones Chief. 💪😎
For the (real life) eggs, it's supply and demand: due to the bird flu outbreaks there's less supply but more (relative) demand, so the price goes up, and only those who really want it will pay more. If enough people decide it's not worth it, then the eggs won't sell, (the demand goes down) and the price will lower. The company does only care about money, like you said, but due to the supply issues, they can get away with charging more since they will still sell out their stock. Aaand yes, if enough people stop buying, the price will go down! This applies to the vegetarian argument too, if everyone stopped eating as much meat, the supply and number of animals slaughtered would need to adjust as well (to maximize profits with decreased demand).
I searched into google just now to seeL TMNT Good old days gaming and sure enough the finale did pop up. idk if that's because I did watch the series when it was new but it does pop up
you want stable low and predictable inflation because it allows people to forecast what their costs will be in X years. as we have seen, high inflation is disruptive and deflation would make it very difficult to secure loans and people would have an incentive to buy less/save more as their money will be more valuable in the future. That does not mean the cost of individual goods will never decrease. It is less likely for industries which are optimized like agro, so eggs will probably remain expensive, but conversely we have seen the price of computers plummet over the past 20 years as we've gotten better at making them.
You’re not wrong about the business thing. My boss, who is getting ready to hand over his electrician business to my father, just got screwed out of a $200,000 dollar job after all the work had been done because he doesn’t get it in writing from these rats and just takes them on good faith. They drug their feet about paying us for the job for months until an agreement was made that we’d go and do small jobs around the place in exchange for the money we were previously owed. When we had to go back and fix an issue with a ceiling fan we didn’t even cause, we were denied the money under the claim that it should have been working in the first place, and our contract which states we had to go back and fix any issues for free for a period of time anyways, was terminated. They waited until WE found an issue in some other business’s wiring and nailed us for it. A business will ALWAYS do what it can to screw you over and save money, while the people that make these calls usually turn right around and say that hard work and honesty got them where they are today and I hate it
In response to your vegan question, yeh, one person doesn't make a personal direct difference to the stats of how many animals get slaughtered the moment they become vegan, but that one person showing you can live healthily and undoing the lies of the meat and dairy industries can convince more people to pursue it. The fact that veganism is on the rise is evidence that the whole "one person doesn't make a difference" thing isn't a real argument not to do it. One person can inspire many many people, and I personally was inspired by just one person, and have gone on to inspire many more people to go vegan. No change would ever get made if everyone had to all be in on it the moment the ideas arise. Movements grow, and this one is growing fast, and it is becoming easier and easier for people to do it.
I've noticed egg prices going up as well. I usually shop at Aldi's and they are the best for cheap groceries and the quality is fairly decent if not pretty good. Eggs there used to cost 89 cent a dozen maybe 1 year ago and now they're about 2 bucks I think. It's still way cheaper than a regular grocery store where they can be 3-4 bucks a dozen so I can't complain that much.
Awesome stuff Bill!! Love the commentary and please don't feel the need to apolgoize for yesterday. As for the eggs sky rocketing in price the past 8 months or whatever. It's just the hyper inflation and impact of the world. It really confuses me too how something like eggs which this time last year was only like 2$ a dozen is so utterly expensive now but I LIKE to think it'll go down in price when things cool down (whenver that is) Love the video and hope all is well.
I'm vegetarian strictly for the Health benefits of not eating red meat. Coincidently, I don't like poultry either. I do have fish some times so I could be considered pescatarian. 😅
1. You HAVE noticed mark-up happening everywhere, haven't you? Hell, we used to buy packages of eight chicken burgers that were reduced to seven, FOR THE SAME PRICE. And that's just one simple commodity. This shit is why I'm not moving out any time soon. My parents are generous, thank God. 2. "Economist", yes, and you're not stupid. I honest-to-Gods think it's arbitrary, all of it based on the rising cost of living. But why is LIVING costing more? You and I should both move to Sweden or Denmark. They live very simple lives over there--a place like mine, which can JUUUUUUUST fit the three of us, is considered rather a large house over there--but the Scandinavian states have always, on average, been happier than Canada or the USA. Well, WAY more than the USA. America is a third-world country with first-world weapons and first-world arrogance, that's all. 3. You know why prices will never drop. Capitalism. This is why--and I keep saying this--I'm a Communist. 4. LOL, purple's the hottest one .And what do you get for the Ocean Spider House again? Bigger wallet? It's Mask of Truth in the Swamp, right? 5. Is it only perverted because you KNOW that guy wants a picture of the Gerudo specifically so he can whack off? Or does he just turn me off because he's a pasty fat dude like my ex? Mind you, Kay didn't have any awesome tats like that dude's. 6. Okay, I DON'T believe that one person can change the world. We need more than one. But to say you won't (I don't mean you specifically, eh: I mean, like, the overall "you") even try just because you know your lone act won't make a difference is an admission of defeat. Because, see, if all the people who, together, could change the world THOUGHT that way, nothing would ever happen. And THAT is the problem with consumerism, eh: "I want, I need, and ooooooooh, pretty" are all very distracting. We're busy grubbing for scraps, rather than being human. 7. Your model--lowering prices so that people will buy more--only works when one already has a monopoly, or near monopoly, on whatever industry we're talking about, because they're selling so much ALREADY that they don't have to worry about turning a profit. Under your model lies the actual ideal of Capitalism, BUUUUT, in real life, Capitalism is a model based on manufactured (both figuratively and literally) scarcity. We want it because it's rare, because we've been taught to think that rare means valuable. But take a thing like diamonds, eh: it's one of the most common mineral compounds on Earth, but we've been tricked en masse into thinking they're rare. Literal wars are waged over sparkly carbon. Well, your eyes and mine are sparkly carbon, but no one is trying to claw our faces open to get their hands on our eyeballs. But they'll kill for literal blood diamonds. Where do you think the term comes from? In other words, Capitalism is bullshit. And at least you know it, an no, your analysis is not wrong. 8. Hopelessness I can deal with, surprisingly. It's misanthropy (i.e. a lack of faith in humanity) that drives me around the f*cking bend. YOU I feel like I can talk to, but people who think we're ALL f*cked, I have no patience for that shit. 9. Like, I ENJOY the Pirate's Fortress and Pinnacle rock...but yeah, this gets tedious. also, aww, little tadpole babies! Cute. My question is, where are their limbs? They're supposed to be humanoid, right? 10. Well dear, I just searched your TMNT video, and it DID show up. First result. Bam. 10. Okay, so, hot take, but Evan might be more talented than Japas. I LIKE Japas better, but while he and Mikau wrote the accompaniment to the song, Evan wrote the entire melody line. And it's the melodies that people TEND to remember. Mind you, that also depends on your instrument. I'm a pianist and a vocalist, right, so I'd have a better ear for the treble, but you're a bassist, right, Bill, so YOU might have a better ear for the bass/accompaniment. Also, Link WOULD get a decent chunk of the royalties in the real world for writer's credit. 11. Bill, honey, it wasn't a rock. It was a rock, rock, ROCK TURTLE! 😆

I've literally never met another person in my life that listened to Rancid. Fuck yeah man 🤜🤛

Made it within an hour for the last 4 videos, anyone else?
Of course
