Kinda. The assaultron body is there mostly just as a tangible medium. Her bulk is in the stationary computer banks. I don't know why they did that since nothing much is gained by giving the system a body. It would have been easier and cheaper to forgo that. Technicians would need to be nearby anyways, so it wouldn't be much more to have them ask and read results. But am I glad she exists? Absolutely.
Lol the whole thing about safety is BS lol if you go upstairs there's a terminal you can hack that turns kleo into a killer assaultron there's even logs on how she wants to do it Iirc there's even ones for specific NPCs
@@bendoughty9831 ...what? you can hack Kleo herself with the robotic expert perk, but her terminal just has contingency plans, there's no hacking. unless I badly misremembered something
I’m sad that Ada didn’t have the same relationship available like the other bots like codsworth and curie. I understand the lack of disposition, but she has clear likes and dislikes and opinions which would’ve made for a unique companion
It doesn't even make sense why she was made to be so blank. She's already a named character with a level of background. Double down. They were going to give us blank slates anyways. Such a shame.
If I can hook a Miss Nanny up with a guy in Diamond city, then my sole survivor can catch feelings for his travelling companion. Honestly it was such a missed opportunity
One of the things I think I love most about them is the fact that they match all the other robots while also managing to stay very visually distinct. They have a much more slender frame to keep them from looking like protectrons, but still maintain that retrofuturist aesthetic. Their voice is a commanding presence in game that doesn't get mixed up with any of the other dialog (even the robobrains, despite the fact that they're both similarly mechanized and feminine). All that's not even mentioning the way their face becomes a glowing red star when they're powering their laser!
They're my favorite robot design, for aesthetics, narrative and gameplay. Aesthetic-wise, they're sleek & slender, while still maintaining some clunkiness in their movements. The faces are almost like a spider in some portions, with two beady eyes and parts resembling mandibles under the plating. And they're the only distinctly feminine robot, in contrast to the masculine or interchangeable robots around them. Narratively, I think they perfectly represent both the technology and savagery of the Old World at its terminal point - both the most *human* and *inhuman.* A humanoid shape, speaking with the most natural voice of RobCo's lineup, and the most sophisticated software of a mass-produced robot. And what is their purpose? To quite literally tear what's in front of them limb-from-limb, and burn whatever's left to ashes. Gameplay-wise, they're consistently one of the most dangerous and unrelenting melee enemies. Think we've all had a bad moment with one.
I read her terminal. She's already planned who to kill, and in what order, in Goodneighbor. I'm not sure what would trigger this, but it should make the locals nervous.
@carlasghost656 goodneighbor is a violent town. We are literally greeted hy its mayor murdering a dude trying to extort us for money. Violence is part of that places culture Why WOULDNT an assaultron have a contingency plan?
Don't see how KLEO having plans to kill Goodneighbour residents is particularly disturbing. Daisy is the only one on the list who hasn't shown herself to be *very* dangerous, and literally the first thing you encounter in the town is someone attempting to extort you and Hancock killing him for mouthing off to him. It's a dangerous town, full of dangerous people, and the Commonwealth doesn't really have ways of dealing with that other than 'hit first or hit harder'. That she lists it as 'if', rather than 'when', is the opposite of disturbing, given her violent core programming.
Yeah. KLEO's not much more aggressive than the average wastelander. Being prepared is just something that needs to be done if they plan to live another day. I would have loved to be able to slowly get on her good side and eventually earn her trust. I just want to help the older ghouls and robots since they've been alive for so long. Imagine the stories they could tell and the knowledge/wisdom they could give you.
I wouldn't be surprised if most Goodneighbour residents had similar contingencies, if not as well thought out. At least one sidequest straight up confirm that they are a treacherous bunch motivated by greed.
KLEO's plan is based on a quote from James Mattis a retired Marine Corps general: _be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet_
@@user-lp3cv1zf6vhk42lwa In fallout 4, with the atomaton DLC, after you rescue Ada, you can build a robot work bench and eventually every type of robot including another Codsworth that makes GREAT gardener bots.
All the self-aware Assaultrons are still affected by the primary purpose of Assaultrons: assault. P.A.M. is a mainframe AI ported into an Assaualtron body, but she mainly runs wargames. She predicts and plans for various attacks and threats based on available data. "Have a plan to kill everyone who might kill you." Ada is sad because she wasn't a good enough killer to protect her family. "What happens when your plans to kill everyone you meet fail?" KLEO is all about enabling as much killing as possible ("cold-blooded murder . . . *hot-blooded* murder"). "Have a plan to kill everyone you meet." She's also very clear about her gender identification, which is a bit nonstandard for an Assaultron. As to emotions, Ada and KLEO definitely seem to have emotions. KLEO has emotional commitment to her nature as a female, feels emotional affinity and sympathy for a fellow "working girl," and really, *really* likes weapons and murder. She also expressly states that there are people she has different emotional reactions to: "Don't worry, honey, I only test my weapons on people I don't like." Ada also expressly states that she has emotions, that she feels loss, sadness, guilt, shame, and anger. She also expresses that she considered her previous group to be her family, and expresses hope that the Mechanist can make amends, and that some good can come out of the Mechanist's efforts in the end. I don't see any reason not to take her word for it, as none of that could be pre-programmed catch phrases (which I could see things like wishing she had a vacuum attachment perhaps being -- someone at RobCo's idea of a funny little quirk to add in).
@@BxBxProductionsNot overly attached, just uploaded a program to make it act like a sheepsquatch, so it would collect data with actual sheepsquatch. @@netherwarrior6113 Actually he wasn't killed, it was heavily implied he was, but he actually kind of went into hiding. After you do a few quests for Vinny Costa, he tells you to talk to Aries, and if you finished the Blue Ridge questline, you can ask Aries who he truly is. He is Calvin Van Lowe
I don't really see it. Though I find myself wanting to protect Ada like a brother would a sister. Polly from 76 I like her personality, if it was in a human woman I would probably find her attractive. Curie on the other hand, once she went from bot to cloned human body I found her attractive, drawn to her personality, kindness, and innocents. I added Curie because she can be put into an assaultron body.
The General Atomics Assaultron could be a legit thing by how the US Government adopts new weapons systems. RobCo may have designed and built the first Assaultron but if they could not meet the production demand of the government during war time then other manufacturers can get pulled in to produce the same thing to the same spec. This could easily explain why there are so many minor variations on the same thing and why interchangeability of parts was such an important design consideration.
Honestly the Assaultron seems like it fits the design aesthetic of General Atomics more than Rob Co. Rob Co seems to favor mass-produced lowest cost designs, often with a certain chunky/rounded aesthetic.
No, I doubt it was a proper/official variant. If it really was that much more powerful than the standard then it was probably just a testing platform. It could've been used to stress test the components besides the main actuators. Like how the student found out, some pieces are more likely to break than others, and finding out when and why would be very helpful before production. Why did the school have it? Maybe they were working with the company or maybe it was donated to them for their own personal research.
@@LowbrowDeluxeI was talking to someone about this a week ago, and I felt that the Assaultrons so (relatively) commonly developing personalities and having the concept of gender felt more like a GA thing than a Robco thing as well, like the Mr Handys, Ms Nannys, and especially the Mr Gutsys. Most of this realization actually *came from* the many Mr. Gutsys that have personalities going beyond simple “Kill Commies” I found in Fallout 3, like Cerberus in Underworld wanting to kill all the ghouls around him or the medic in the Citadel who has been hiding from the BOS the fact that he developed a personality a while ago, to even the small things like the Mr. Gutsy in River City saying that he doesn’t *want* to *have* to kill you if you ask about breaking into the armory.
General Atomics sounds like the company that would get the private government / military contract to design and build them for the war effort. RobCo sounds like the company who was given the (post-DARPA) designs to eventually put into production for "public private consumption". ;) But for my head canon, RoCo is probably where the self-realization AI coding might have been introduced, either accidentally (sloppiness) or by intent (for the public; i.e. customer interaction and satisfaction).
Self-awareness seems to be an emergent process in Fallout robots. That is to say, it wasn't programmed into them in any way, but their experiences caused it to spontaneously develop. Codsworth, Ada, Kleo, Curie, and the teacher miss nanny in Diamond City are all examples from Fallout 4.
It reminds me of the old Star Wars lore about droids needing periodic memory wipes to keep them functional, and that those that don't develop "quirks" and "habits" that people find odd. It makes perfect sense to me that those kind of "general maintenance practices" were lost post-War... Ergo robots that have been operating for years and years on end like Codsworth start merging sentience/sapience as they're not being "reset to factory defaults" over and over again and losing that development.
@@MisterHavoc There's certainly something to that idea. I think it also depends on how much in-depth personal interaction they got with humans. Molly at Cambridge Polymer Labs seems like she was on the cusp of self-awareness, but the Mr. Handys at the Nahant Oceanological Society were still nowhere near it, despite both running for the same length of time. The Institute was studying it and found it frustrating enough that they finally moved away from androids and into genetic engineering and cybernetics instead.
The Assualtron Dominatrix. Has chain flails for hands, a curvier chassis, and a glossy black finish, also speaks more like KL-E-0 as it tries to "dominate" you.
Stealth boys are of American production made from captured Chinese technology I believe? Makes sense that this technology would sooner or later be build into robots although only to an limited extend.
There's also the option to build them into Power Armor, as well. Tho not as effectively. And generally I have yet to see an NPC that has it. So I'm gonna stand in with you, that the US had access to the capabilities.

@phartferd5738 they where automatons described as living metal statues. So not "robots" but I like where your head is at as the Greeks did have Mechanical devices mostly toys
I would argue PAM was originally on a larger computer system, and then moved into an Assaultron at some point later on. Fallout 76 shows that it is possible for advanced programs to be migrated into robot bodies, both the bodies able to handle it and the tech existing to make it possible. Fallout 4 shows this in a way too with Curie but 76 has a direct example
Fallout 2 had Skynet, an AI moved into a mechanized body. Terminal data records PAM as specifically moved to the assaultron body after creation on an immobile computer system.
US Army: "We need a robot that the troops will welcome as part of their unit. Could you make something with nuanced personality and a sense of humor?" Robco: "What do you think this is? 'Interstellar'? We're still using vacuum tubes and punch-cards over here." US Army: "Hmm. Can't be funny, and vacuums tubes, you say? Interesting. Could you make it kinda like a woman?" Robco: "Well, it's a coldly calculating machine only interested in its directives, and it won't be warm, or loving, or anything like that, so not rea.................Yes, actually." Thus, the Assaultron was born.
I can see that. Given that they were apparently intended to obey the orders of human officers, the people funding the project might have hoped that they'd be able to form an esprit-de-corps with the soldiers they'd be fighting alongside. Robco being Robco, they interpreted this request in the way that would mean the least work for them.
I like Ada. Finding her is a good moment in any playthrough. She doesn't have a companion perk, and opposite to your other companions encourages you to pick up every piece of junk (which is the only judgment if any). I wish she had a little more personality but maybe a DLC add-on type issue.
She’s a good bot, she not only understands the importance of our hoarding habit, but she helpfully contributes. I was more than happy to give her head lasers.
Judging from KLEO's ultra-preparedness, I think it's probably fair to say that an Assaultron may be smarter than some of the human officers they were built to obey. Unfortunately, Assaultrons seem to be smart enough to understand this.
Yes we will see Assaultrons in the show. In the original teaser trailer, we see one walking in the background. And I, for one, am hyped for it. I want it to be like kleo and be independent. Some itinerant side character that offers brutal quips shrouded in phrasing before being an absolute menace when the gloves are off

I like the idea that they, and other bots, are able to evolve or devolve over time, based on there environment and last programed orders. Units around people or in complex situations, and not ordered to kill, grow, while ones in simple situations or ordered to kill stay the same or degrade mentally, over long periods of time.
One thing i feel was forgotten is that PAM does not have the face laser(ada too but shes dlc and not a real assultron) dont know why more than she could be an earlier model
maybe because PAM wasnt a real assaultron? she is a wargaming super computer put on assaultron body, and the laser would affect the processing power, when you attack the synth loving hippies pam always flees to her room, she wasnt made for combat, why is she in an assaultron body then? for relocation incase emergency, assaultron have the highest mobility of all robots, while mister gutsy are faster a good shot to their trusters could make them immobile
I'm playing Fallout 4 for basically the first time. I accidentally stumbled into the mechanist questline, and I love making robots. I was up till 2am last night working on my red assaultron with a sentry head and arm. I named him Treigiea and he has a minigun.
same! I usually design my perfect machine (that one being an assaultron with a robobrain head and sentry bot arms, wielding two gatling lasers) and then I just create whatever the hell comes to my mind. meanwhile, according to the storyline, I'm supposed to reach Concord, all flabbergasted about the changes in the world
18:07 Watching Ada shove PAM out of the way while you were talking to her gave me a chuckle. Side note, Ada is adorable, and KLEO is my favorite merchants in Fallout 4, I like the sassy robot lady.
I'm surprised there was no mention of the assaultron in fallout 76 who works in the wayward and seems to feel very strongly about certain things like the person she's bonded with or which replacement body you get her for a quest
I honestly wonder if we'd use these guys if we had them. Like yeah they're unBELIEVABLY advanced robots. But it's still a foot soldier. It still needs to be carted around with vehicles. And to have something so prohibitively, unimaginably expensive that doesn't fulfill any artillery role or have automatic weaponry for suppressing fire, what do you even use them for? An occupational force? Guerilla?
Shock assault infantry. Most military models had the head laser that can be used at significant range. Their body armor stacks up well to small arms fire which we know the Chinese were primarily using instead of laser weaponry like the U.S. was. Combine that with stealth boy use and you have an extremely difficult to hit armored shock infantry that will cross no man’s land and killing fields with zero regard for personal safety forcing the enemy to reveal their positions if not abandon them outright or suffer a close ranged hand to hand engagement with an armored violent robot with metal claws for hands. Stack a few squads of regular infantry and a support squad of power armor soldiers with miniguns and Gatling lasers for support with the ability to call for fire support from internal radios and you have a winning combo
I'd hope that with those hands of theirs, they would be able to operate firearms. That's about as much as I can think of. Otherwise why even have hands? Not so sure though since they apparently had no issue with replacing their hands with blades, which makes no sense since hands could've easily held them. The blades also seem to lack the wrist movement that makes swords useful to begin with, so really they seem like a lose-lose change.
@@midgetman4206 they can use rifles and ranged stuff IF they're built-in weapons, so the option does exist but it's not as versatile as simply giving them a gun mid fight
@@castlebarron1788 That seems like a pretty horrible use for them. Like you said, they're probably (very) expensive. Fighting something so predictable means that it would be countered easily. Traps and obstacles for one would be very effective for their cost. In fact, the same pitfalls would effect power armor since they would be limited in which paths they could take, ie predictable. If you want to drag out fire, I know of something comparatively simple and cheap. A rover bomb. Forget the over complexity and most probably ineffectiveness. A bomb does not need any extra frills and is incredibly effective in causing fear. No. What I think robots like these would (and eventually will) be used for is for the dangerous jobs. That is being the first in line for stuff like breaching and searching/clearing. They'd inherently receive the most attention because they'd be in the front. Maybe they could do on-ground scouting, in areas that aerial based drones can't see or reach. Really though, I think dedicated scout robots would be better since they could be smaller and cheaper. Stealth boys are a hit or miss. You still need to be quiet and follow every other rule in being stealthy, and thermals might still pick you up. Aerial drones can also still get picked up by radar/lidar. Not saying it'd be useless, but I am saying it's not the solution to all.
@brodriguez11000 is it bad that I find the scene of a assualtrom running towards Chinese soldiers and the soldiers are like yooooo its a woma-oh oh shit OH SHIT
I mean if they introduce cleo in the show by having her throw out a couple of thugs from her shop trying to rob it and then proceeds to quickly dispatch them goodneighbor-style in broad daylight... it may have the unfortunate/fortunate effect of being an awakening to certain people... probably.
If any character from the east coast were to return in a later game, it'd be KL-E-0. She already has a canonical history of relocation, looking at the Neighborhood Watch contingency.
Dialogue suggests that Ada's lack of positive or negative reaction to most of the player's actions comes from her attempting to rationalize every action as part of some plan or strategy, and chalks the more unusual behavior up to the lack of information on her part. Additionally, she may be hesitant to judge actions as optimal or suboptimal, because her proposed optimal route is in part what led to her group being destroyed.
They are incredibly dangerous well designed killing machines and there is a scene I remember vividly on my first playthrough. The mission where you follow dogmeat into the Fortress where Kellogg hides, where you search for clues. By this time I have encountered several Assaultrons, who have proven to be extremely challenging foes. I go through his trail, search the evidence of his presence and then I come across a ripped-apart Assaultron. What once was a proud, frightening voice has now been reduced to a scared, vulnerable and clearly shaken Assaultron psyche... "Alert... critical signs... system corrupt... I can't feel my legs. ... Known mercenary... exercise *extreme* caution..." The sights of that droid being dismembered and basically crying in pain, warning of the brutal danger that is Kellogg was beyond frightening. If an Assaultron was bested so brutally, then who the hell did this to it? What kind of vile, unstoppable force would have this capability to do that to a rogue warmachine...
I think the Ada Vertibird thing is because you can turn her into a full sentry bot with extra parts, and that would clip through the vertibird, though I haven't tried doing that with Codsworth yet, I might just see if it's for that reason today.
P.A.M. was moved to the assaultron body to become mobile for easier transport, she was originally in a super computer or terminal though newer games don't have as many super computers, though they have new advanced computers but no longer the massive mainframe super computers
Hey, being able to turn Ada into the ultimate Assaultron combat unit who never judges you and unconditionally attacks your enemies with murderous intent is one of the best things about Fallout 4 (turning Codsworth into a floating Murderbot who very politely contributes to the extinction of raiders and wasteland creatures ranks up there as well).
Assaultrons in 76 imo are the most dangerous enemies in the game. Also I just find them to be cool asf. They certainly seem like perfect shock troopers and scouts/assassins. Edit: At 15:12 in the video - I assume the parts weren't recognized as RobCo or otherwise was because Assaultrons are military hardware. And so the information about them would be classified. Even more so if they were still in the prototype stage. So I don't think this was a screw up in the writing. It makes sense that the parts were unknown.
This is why I go for the robot hacking perk. I get a deadly temporary ally and can laugh at the fools who think that robots are a threat to me. I get many a sentry bot and assaultron to my side by running in and hacking it to my side.
There are files in Fallout 4 computers, accessible without hacking the game and looking through game-files, that explains PAM and her current body. You just need to read the terminals.
No matter what, assaultrons instill a deep fear within me, even though I can one hit kill them. There’s just something about them. It might have to do with when I was still lower level and they first started spawning in the game, I didn’t know what they were and it just obliterated me with that laser. I even have one as a follower (his name is Rusty) but fighting them still scares me
No, PAM was not always in an Assaultron. It's a convenient chassis that lets them move her about, and I suppose provides power, protection, support etc to the PAM predictive computer. But originally PAM was just a computer, I presume immobile. That's in the game somewhere, whether Desdemona tells you it or you read it on a terminal or whatever, I definitely read it somewhere. Maybe when you're first hearing about her during the plan to "rescue" her.
Regarding P.A.M.- it is specifically stated in one of the terminals in the Switchboard that P.A.M. was created as a computer, then later put into an assaultron body; there is an entry that calls out that "P.A.M. is now mobile".
The assaultron was originally designed for medical field work for the military. But when they couldn't do the job for obvious reason they were repurposed for actual field work in being on the Frontline. Problem was. They weren't made in time and were put on the back burner. You can meet three in fallout 4 that are friendly. kleo, ada, and pam. There is one in fallout 76 that everyone meets or should meets. Like all the robots of fallout. They have had some degradation to there parts and or programming over time because of radiation and what have you along with generally being reprogrammed by certain factions and people. All the robots of fallout are suppose to have a learning AI function with them. But since like in the real world that's not a smart idea. There AI programming was switched off indefinitely because people would rather have something that just listens over giving its opinion.
You know, Assaultrons make a lot more sense from a design perspective when you realize they were developed by RobCo. Mr. House must just have a thing for sexy robots.
The latter minutes of the video go into whether PAM was an early Assaultron or not. I could have sworn there was a terminal entry in The Switchboard somewhere that discussed pre-war PAM being transferred into a 'mobile architecture' or something - the implication being that she was initially a stationary machine, and then got transferred into an Assaultron body.
There is literally a terminal that very clearly goes into detail about her being an AI on a computer originally, but she is put into an Assaultron so that she can be transported to the White House and advise the President. But the bombs drop before she can be transported.
i once tried to touch an assaultrons ass and she looed at me and her face was glowing red at first i thought she was blushing then a lazah beam shot out yowza
I don't actually remember fighting these things. I'd seen the locals fight them, and mutated critters fight them, but not me. Usually by the time I'd arrived on site it had already been destroyed and I just mopped up what was left.
As for the A.I. capability of Assaultrons and other robots, I don’t think the mechanism for their consciousness is as complicated. It’s clear that bots have already proven to have emotions, but it’s also just as hard for us to prove that other people aren’t a “predictive analytics machine” with a flesh suit interacting with the world instead of mechanical parts. For how often fallout blurs the line of what makes a person, it surprises me that only the railroad seems to recognize that consciousness isn’t exclusive to humanity.
But is the Railroad right? Are synths really aware? Nick seems so. But so does Kellogg and in the end you are expected to shoot him. Yes. I recognize Kellogg by gender.
In several ways consciousness in non-humans is displayed and respected in Fallout. The Enclave had a computer President. The Master was an FEV mutant meshed with a computer that was in charge of an army of mutants that almost destroyed what was left of people in the US. There are sapient, intelligent ALIENS you can face, and it is made obvious they are far beyond human metal capacity. There is a quest to save intelligent deathclaws from the Enclave. There is a scorpion you can play chess against, and it will attack you if you win, the scientist that created it explicitly did so to create an intelligent creature to treat with respect as an equal. You need to familiarize yourself to Fallout games before Fallout 4.
@@liwojenkins that is a cute call out but both respective examples are not given human autonomy. You don’t see the railroad in fo3 trying to liberate Eden because he’s a supercomputer and not a consciousness machine. You can even science and robotics expert your way into initiating a self destruct like how the master died in an imposed explosion upon realizing his life’s work was moot. Those are super complicated computers but they don’t really want to live and exist for Their own sake of being, like conscious beings do. The robobrains in the earlier titles also explore this, as Skynet was an amalgam of different brains which were used to make important choices for a vault while still having some human remnant inside each deteriorating brain. We see consciousness being used as a part of computation but I’m sure I’m blind to the other way around because ur right I haven’t played fo1 or fo2

Don't try to understand people that can't get beyond the appearance of a thing, their shallow analysis and understanding cannot be fixed, it's inherent to their intelligence and maturity level.
Honestly I thinks it’s more simple than that. Theirs two other sci-fi franchises that explore and explain this sort of thing. Essentially they don’t have personalities, they’re just broken. In the Warhammer 40k setting theirs a group of highly advanced super computers known as Votann, they hold all known knowledge of humanity and can make extremely complicated and accurate calculations. However the method to maintain them was slowly lost and so the Computers started to slow down and glitch out like a computer with too many tabs left open. Because of the added burden the Computers started to display various odd quirks that could be mistaken as personality and the race that depends on them do mistake it for personality. Theirs also in Star Wars the droids. The Droids, especially the B1 models aren’t meant for war, they’re simple machines but because they’re forced into a position they weren’t designed for it has put extra burden on their processing which gives them odd personality quirks. For the AI of Fallout Robots I feel like it’s similar in that they’re designed to behave in certain ways and then we’re left to rust and fend for themselves which created an almost robotic form of insanity where they’re struggling to process things correctly and we mistake it as personality because humans like to anthropomorphize things. The Assaultron that runs the store is broken and has convinced itself of something that isn’t true, the Robots at the theme park are preforming their duties with broken AI and so have all these strange and aggressive “personalities” they’re following their programming but with no maintenance being done those programs are left to rot and decay.
Fallout 76 recently added an assualtron lite ally named Adelaide. An interesting thing about her is that she specifically wants to prove she's more than a killing machine by singing on stage, which is something she decided for herself. You even have the option to ask her why she refuses to look directly at you, and part of her answer reveals that she is very much aware of the fact that her face is also a laser.
I think the Twins from Atomic Heart are placed very high on that list, even the main character think they're attractive. They also do some... questionnable poses
I love how some robots are purely programmed and then we have others of the same models yet shows way more slef awareness and human like personality. Ironsides is another good example of this. Hell, the protection in 3 who claimed to have been one of the founding fathers has human personality.

The irony of these thorough lore dives is that the fans doing them pay more attention to the world building than the Bethesda Devs making them. Bethesda doesn’t even use reference guides, so trying to make sense of what’s cannon simply isn’t possible, and it’s tragic for such a story rich setting.

Assaultrons are probably my favorite new addition that came with fallout 4. They just seemed to fit in so well with the rest of the fallout robots!
I had no clue they where introduced in fallout 4 could've sworn they where in the other bathesda fallout games
They fill the role of relentless melee pursuer that the other robots aren't particularly good at.
They are my favorite addition too. Not for any reasons like fitting in. They're just hot.
Cleo is not harmless, she is peaceful
I read her terminal. She's already planned who to kill, and in what order, in Goodneighbor. I'm not sure what would trigger this, but it should make the locals nervous.
@carlasghost656 goodneighbor is a violent town. We are literally greeted hy its mayor murdering a dude trying to extort us for money. Violence is part of that places culture

@@carlasghost656that’s just plain a good thing to have in good neighbor. It’s not a good neighborhood
shes a show owner and your very introduction to goodneighbor includes someone getting stabbed right in front of her shop. id say its to be expected
They even allow you to make your own assaultrons, and decide whether or not to "enable their personality" interface.
@@user-lp3cv1zf6vhk42lwa In fallout 4, with the atomaton DLC, after you rescue Ada, you can build a robot work bench and eventually every type of robot including another Codsworth that makes GREAT gardener bots.

They give me too much power
the personality is just Ada minus unique quest dialogue though.
Not with the Assaultron voice. You need to have the male or female voices
All the self-aware Assaultrons are still affected by the primary purpose of Assaultrons: assault.
P.A.M. is a mainframe AI ported into an Assaualtron body, but she mainly runs wargames. She predicts and plans for various attacks and threats based on available data. "Have a plan to kill everyone who might kill you."
Ada is sad because she wasn't a good enough killer to protect her family. "What happens when your plans to kill everyone you meet fail?"
KLEO is all about enabling as much killing as possible ("cold-blooded murder . .
She also expressly states that there are people she has different emotional reactions to: "Don't worry, honey, I only test my weapons on people I don't like."
Ada also expressly states that she has emotions, that she feels loss, sadness, guilt, shame, and anger.

@@natalie6811 That's a really good point. The AI in general is much more reactive than Rob Co's bots typically are.
General Atomics sounds like the company that would get the private government / military contract to design and build them for the war effort.
RobCo sounds like the company who was given the (post-DARPA) designs to eventually put into production for "public private consumption". ;)
But for my head canon, RoCo is probably where the self-realization AI coding might have been introduced, either accidentally (sloppiness) or by intent (for the public; i.e. customer interaction and satisfaction).

And this here is the invader model. You can see that it's more powerful to its prior model by the increased mass of the booba section.
Every battle needs a distraction.
@brodriguez11000 is it bad that I find the scene of a assualtrom running towards Chinese soldiers and the soldiers are like yooooo its a woma-oh oh shit OH SHIT
The stealth capabilities of the assaulttrons came from the Chinese stealth suit. That was reversed engineered into a stealth boy
Smash, next question
I can't feel my legs.
... Known mercenary... exercise *extreme* caution..."
The sights of that droid being dismembered and basically crying in pain, warning of the brutal danger that is Kellogg was beyond frightening. If an Assaultron was bested so brutally, then who the hell did this to it? What kind of vile, unstoppable force would have this capability to do that to a rogue warmachine...
and then the one who killed the brutal killing machine turns out being able to be absolutely wrecked with drugs
Yeah, lore wise Kellogg is scary asf…
When is isn’t getting absolutely sconglebongled by the fatman in the fort Hagen armory
@@justatankwithinternetacces8338 lore accurate Kellogg is a powerhouse.
I think the Ada Vertibird thing is because you can turn her into a full sentry bot with extra parts, and that would clip through the vertibird, though I haven't tried doing that with Codsworth yet, I might just see if it's for that reason today.
2:40 in Fallout 4's far harbor DLC there's another supermutant who breeds and sells dogs to you, he's a nice mutant too.
P.A.M. was moved to the assaultron body to become mobile for easier transport, she was originally in a super computer or terminal though newer games don't have as many super computers, though they have new advanced computers but no longer the massive mainframe super computers
As Old World Blues put it, My best friends have off switches.
One of the neatest parts, if the head is intact, the Assaultron still lives.
Hinted at in the Mechanist episodes of The Silver Shroud.
This is why I go for the robot hacking perk. I get a deadly temporary ally and can laugh at the fools who think that robots are a threat to me. I get many a sentry bot and assaultron to my side by running in and hacking it to my side.
We assaultrons are more complex than anyone could ever think
What's your primary function ?
assaulting ass
This feels like it should have been a ten minute video.
There are files in Fallout 4 computers, accessible without hacking the game and looking through game-files, that explains PAM and her current body.
You just need to read the terminals.
Theyre also located in the Switchboard too, the very first Railroad mission. They're not hard to find.
Why would a robot be needing of taking notes on a separate terminal, especialy when those notes are that incriminating. Pagliarulo strike again!
Ada gives me her blessings to collect junk ... unlike other companions.
Longfellow praises you too.
It’s why I felt cheated by her lack of affinity and romance option.
When Lucy comes across that inactive Assaultron right after she left the vault, I thought, "Well, that would have been a short series".
2:05 First time I saw a ghoul was the Necropolis in FO1. They were chatty ishes but weren't marked as enemies so there we go.
It's in a terminal in the Switchboard when you go through it with Deacon.
Regarding P.A.M.- it is specifically stated in one of the terminals in the Switchboard that P.A.M. was created as a computer, then later put into an assaultron body; there is an entry that calls out that "P.A.M. is now mobile".
8:11 oh my goodness gracious
Ada my beloved. ♥️🤖
I don't actually remember fighting these things. I'd seen the locals fight them, and mutated critters fight them, but not me. Usually by the time I'd arrived on site it had already been destroyed and I just mopped up what was left.
You should read KL-E-0's terminal that's on the second floor yes she has a terminal and she's got plans.
Actual videp start at 4:00, before that he repeat in different manners how in fallout some dangerous creatures are friendly.
@@paulfrankovich3085 Children and mentally deficient people can't tell the difference between a thing, and something that resembles a thing. soldierinsane2689 would probably melt down if I put on a dogsuit and started barking. They would think I knew shapeshifting magic!
I don't know what Mr House was thinking when he thought: "You know, let's make our military grade killer robot look sexy."

One small issue with the video. K.L.E.O. is not an assaultron, she's a woman. Couldn't you tell?
The can’t feel my legs is an old quote that has been in a lot of movies. One of the most famous and probably why it is in fallout is forest gump.
Why are robot women so attractive? There's so many examples to name that the list can go for a long time
I think the Twins from Atomic Heart are placed very high on that list, even the main character think they're attractive.
They also do some... questionnable poses
I'm sure gay and trans robots will get a chance.
@@brodriguez11000 You see... there's this protectron in Fallout : New Vegas...
Maybe I'm crazy, but I recall reading on a terminal that PAM was transferred to the assaultron pre-war.

We got Adelaide to compensate for the loss of Jesse
I love how some robots are purely programmed and then we have others of the same models yet shows way more slef awareness and human like personality. Ironsides is another good example of this. Hell, the protection in 3 who claimed to have been one of the founding fathers has human personality.
I realized in the game that Ada is basically nonsentient. Even Cogsworth has more if a personality than she does. Made me a bit disappointed. Still, she's an amazing engine of destruction.
Funny how it seems that kleo almost recognized a synth somehow, as she identified her as her kind, might nit have said it directly but yea “fellow working girl like her”
The irony of these thorough lore dives is that the fans doing them pay more attention to the world building than the Bethesda Devs making them. Bethesda doesn’t even use reference guides, so trying to make sense of what’s cannon simply isn’t possible, and it’s tragic for such a story rich setting.
My best friend roleplays as a combat medic Assaultron Cleric ("magic" is basically high-tech gizmos and ample supply of stimpacks). He stopped a micro-brewery Protectron, turned into walking IED by tearing it's head off in QQC and frying internals and secondary CPU with head laser.
