Dear Friends and guitar lovers. I have been holding off on commenting on the many dislikes because the reason for them is quite surreal. I investigated how could this be, that in 24 hours, at some point last year, I got tons of thumbs down. It turns out that there was some kind of unexplainable glitch; It seems that 94% of the thumbs down came from………. you ready for this……. BANGLADESH….. I know, strange…..:) what have I ever done to them, I thought. So, as to be expected, Some people gave me a sincere thumbs down, that's fine, but not this massive amount from one country that is not knows for being a classical guitar metropolis. I have said nothing, because It always seemed undignified to respond to criticism in a public way. I figured I would "break" that rule since we do live a world of ever closer communication. Thank you all for your support and comments. Cheers.
Adam del Monte Frankly it's a sham... I don't think those thumbs down could possibly be independent people disliking what you do. I personally love your playing and have kept coming back to these videos for a year or so, the best renditions I've heard (my preference) and I've tried to copy your style when I play these songs, you're my inspiration.
Adam del Monte Sounds almost perfect to me, but could do with a little variation in the sound level on the tremolo as emphasised in the original piece.
Adam del Monte It wasn't perfect. If the people who listened were mainly classical guitarists, that would explain the thumbs down. It's a difficult piece, sustaining that tremolo for such a long stretch.

A most superb version and very nice video too. Truly wonderful playing. You can definitely count me in as a new fan. Its such a hard piece to play at this level. Great tone, even-ness and interpretation ...I am green with envy lol.

Hi Adam - I am an intermediate guitar player and mostly play Flamenco and been listening to your great flamenco playing and stumbled onto this. My teacher has me practicing Recuerdos to improve my tremolo and it has come a long way. When I looked for examples to follow I found great players like John Williams and Kim Chung, but this is every bit as good as them if not better and will use it in my practice. I will definitely be coming to your show in San Diego this August.
I've heard this wonderful piece played by many but this version takes the cake, if I may put it that way! The others don't even come close. Beautiful... so poignant and hypnotic.
Beautiful. Very even tremolo, fantastic tone on the thumb melody, and nice expression and dynamics in all aspects. Del Monte's Recuerdos is one of my favorites; up there with Pepe Romero and Ana Vidovic.

A very technically demanding piece but played excellently. I think one of the reasons why people aren't liking it is because of the lack of expression and dynamics. Possibly some more obvious crescendos/ decrescendos and some rallentando's would help. Other than that your tremolo is great and your technique is outstanding, cheers!

Thank you for acknowledging my point, but I'm not too sure where you got the assumption that I haven't played the piece or have any knowledge of the guitar. Yes you could say his performance was flawless and his tremolo is great but as I said earlier I believe the absence of dynamics caused it to be disliked. I was trying to give out constructive feedback but obviously you have taken it the wrong way, also I'm not sure why you apologised for being rude and then said "you don't even know your shit".
This tremolo thing is maddening to me. I just can’t get it down to sound nice. What I don’t get is when I watch your fingers - not only yours but of other great guitarists as well - you seem to play it way slower than it actually sounds. I just don’t get it…

Dont get it twisted there was a time when his tremelo sounded like dadadaxadeeedercadadadaedapfapdadada but that's how we all start out.
As a classical guitarist who dabbled in flamenco, I think holding the guitar flamenco style is superior to the classical position.

I like this version. It's not to fast as John Wiliams or with many pause as Ana Vidović. It is hoe it should be.
Very nice performance in many ways, but last chords are hared pp and ppp! Such a good idea in view of the title. Why do so few players obey Tarrega?
