- This week we talk to Robbie Hays and Hunter Feldman. Both these young men came from different walks of life but decided early they wanted to become firefighters. We talk about how the Explorer youth program got them both pointed in the right direction and we go step by step on how they prepared themselves for a life as a firefighter and eventually got hired with 2 of the biggest FD agencies in Southern California!

Really wish I went through the cadet program…I did LA Metro youth fire academy back when I was 15 been hooked since then. Now I’m a 22 y/o EMT working towards the goal to join the brotherhood 🚨💪🏾
I’m a fire cadet myself, so I was able to relate myself to this video. I appreciate this video, it has done nothing but given me more drive to succeed and be the best. Thank you guys so much for this unique type of mentorship.

Robbie’s a goooooood dude brought up by good parents and has been working toward this career literally since he was a kid.. he’s the type of friend/mentor you’re gonna wanna have on your journey... Good luck and don’t stop learning 🤙🏽

I’m new to Orange County, former collegiate athlete football, what steps should I take to become a firefighter?
so do i need a Bachelors Degree to move up in the ranks? and does it matter which degree it is? I’m currently a Business Major looking to go into the Fire Service
You need a degree if you wanna be a chief.. at least with LAFD… Having a degree as an entry level guy just shows them that you’re responsible and smart enough to get a degree but it’s not a requirement
