PLEASE REMAIN CALM! Podcast - Ep110 The FD Movie/TV Review Episode
We break down all of the Fire Department tv shows & movies of our lifetime. Scripted network tv shows from “9-1-1” to “Rescue Me” to “Emergency”. We tell you why things hit or miss & how dumb technical mistakes can ruin these shows for firefighters & paramedics. We tell you why the great ones are so great, & what would make a perfect show for us. Then we do the same thing with movies, we tell you which ones were the best & worst & why Backdraft is still the goat. We also talk about emergency driving & some disturbing trends Danny is seeing in the streets

    FYI, I don't know about LA EMS history, but modern paramedicine was created in 1966 in Pittsburgh, PA. It started at Freedom House ambulance service. They were puoneers and the first to do CPR, field intubation, and utlize narcan to reverse opiate overdoses.

    Based on what you said about Dexter, I searched his name online. There were some really positive things posted about him. Seems like he was an inspirational, caring, dedicated, cool person who was interested in mentoring others in addition to serving the community. Rest in peace, Dexter. We need more providers like you.

    The exterior shots of the station on Emergency were shot at County 127 in Carson, while the interiirs were on a set at Universal. It was Exec Produced by Jack Webb (Joe Friday) from Dragnet who was the ex husband of Dixie, (Julie London) whose new husband was Dr. Early (Bobby Troup). One of the technical advisors was Jim Page, one of the county's first paramedics and who was the founder of JEMS magazine and writer of many trainIng books for EMS.

    Do you guys believe that EMTs will ever get the respect from other health professionals and correct pay in the EMS world? Also I’m headed to Paramedic school soon, is there any other high paying job to be in with the paramedic title other than going fire? Congrats on the pool Danny and I hope you still doing comedy Bernie!!

    I was on a ladder on my way up to a second story window to get a lady out at a fire. She was getting burned and fight or flight kicked in. she jumped out at me. I had a tank on my back and we both went down she landed on top of me. I blew out all the discs in my neck. A Neurosurgeon fused my c spine from top to bottom & saved my life really. I’m forever greatful for the Drs & nurses that treated me

    I’m taking in as much knowledge about firefighting as possible before even being hired so hopefully during the academy I won’t be completely uneducated when it comes to what is what and stuff like that. I appreciate videos like this that really explain firefighting and the real inside of it. Thanks guys for this video. I’ve got an interview in two days with a local department and I am waiting on a call from another department, hopefully all goes well.

    Would have been interesting if the paramedics, here, who run the show, explain how many times they've seen someone in that situation "come alive" and how many times they felt the need to wrap up somebody who is still alive🤔

    • @prcpodcast3799
      @prcpodcast3799 ปีที่แล้ว

      She didn’t “come alive” 😏 She was alive the whole time.. trapped in the wrecked car.. they had her covered to try to protect her privacy as they wheeled her to the rig. Her behavior was erratic because she was hypoxic and high on coke.
