  • After many requests to address this, I have decided to do a quick video explaining the basics for creating moving convoys in the GEM Editor for Men of War.
    For a full tutorial on creating waypoints, see • GEM Editor Tutorial: H...

    Hey cool video, but I have a suggestion to fix the units from cutting through the trees and buildings. You want to give both units a similar tag. Then use the actor_to_waypoint command instead of the waypoint command. You then specify the correct tag of the units and give it the starting waypoint it wants to follow and then it should follow it correctly without going out of line.
    The way shown here is a correct way to do it, but giving the units and putting them into squads makes them follow each other rather than following the waypoint. Its kind of like follow the leader one unit follows the correct waypoint while the others follow the unit following the waypoints.
    Just a little trick to help you.

    How do i make a truck, like a transport truck, go to a location, then some AI units will then board that truck, and then the truck will leave?

    Hey guys I'm fairly new to men of war and I would like to know which of the two (assault squad) or (condemed heroes) is more preferred for the gem editor. I don't really like multilplayer but I would like to make my own missions. I was wondering which one would be more suitee for me.

      I recommend MoW:AS, because that game got the most "updates" if i can call it that, Digitalmindsoft made Original MoW and MoW:AS and no other, and assault squad is an improved MoW, while condemned heroes is MoW with new sounds, missions and human models.

    Hey man I eould like to ask you something, I have been making lots of scenarios in men of war As in the ediyor for me to play but I have found that I can only force my men to walk to the enemy. How can I set my men to offensive positions straight away??? I hate sending a suicidal patrol to make them react

    • @123stealthbomber
      @123stealthbomber 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a way. You need an actor state. You specify the units you want by giving the tags and then change their stance or speed to assault, fast or aware. Those three are the best to use.

    Also it is the same for patrols just make the waypoint at the end connect backwards so they turn and follow the same route back without being deleted

    Hey dude! Do you think you could do a video on how you make soldiers automatically mount a machine gun because I set up a mini defense situation and the guy on the machine gun always get prioritized and shot off first, just thought it'd be a lot more cinematic! P.S. how do you get the editor on condemned heroes editor? I use the Assault Squad one but the units are better quality on CH? Cheers pal!

      load up one of the campaign missions from AS and you will see the trigger used for remaining machine guns/anti tank guns. I can't remember it word for word but its pretty self explanatory. I believe it checks the named guns in a zone and if its decrewed has men recrew it.

    Are you aware that you got this all wrong? The speakers, bushes and trees, including trenches should have been added in F2 map, not in F3, because when you try and select the tanks, you end up selecting even the bushes (2:45). Also, when you create waypoints for tanks you give a waypoint line for each tank, otherwise when the first tank reaches a waypoint that leads to a curve, it makes that tank change direction accordingly to where the waypoint line is going, other tanks behind also change directions (immediately turn left early but they hadn't even reached the turning waypoint yet, such as in 5:28, where the rear tank was supposed to reach waypoint 2 first to make the turn. Instead, it started to turn left early and went straight into the farm house). So, it's best that each tank has its own waypoints similar to the first waypoint lines so that all tanks reach their own turning waypoints and continue accordingly, to make the game much more realistic. Otherwise, if you got a convoy of 10 tanks, the moment the first tank reached waypoint 2 and turns, the other tanks also turn regardless of reaching waypoint 2 or not. 10 tanks, 10 waypoints it should be. Another thing that you need to know about a convoy following a single waypoint line is that, if more than one tank follows one waypoint line, other tanks behind tend to drive sideways but not staying on the road (as shown here at 5:07 because of the field of view ahead of each vehicle (3:01 - shown as red marking on the map) helps to avoid going into a collision course. Any vehicle 'spotted/detected' in that field of view makes the rear vehicle detour until the vehicle in front is out of the field of view, as shown at 5:07. Once the field of view is clear, the rear tank will resume driving straight, but not always. This also causes not only the delay when moving in formation (one behind the other), but also causes the tank to stop, turn, change direction before it straightens and then proceeds with following the convoy. This delay makes the tank easy target for the enemies. So, to fix this problem, copy the first waypoint and paste as many waypoint for each number of tanks, 10 tanks, 10 waypoints added next to each other. Doing this, makes the tanks easy to control. They will drive straight according to the way the waypoints are set on the map, straight, left, right, etc. without resulting in any side swaying like at 5:07. If a tank ahead slows down, all other behind also slow down. If a tanks stops ahead, e.g. shot down, the other tanks behind do two things, the first is that if the shot tanks is unmovable, the tank behind will push it out of the way. If the tank is damaged, e.g. track busted, all other rear tanks either tend to detour or go around, or push the damaged tank aside and continue. They will not leave their own waypoints unless it's critical. The Gem editor has some of the finest AI added to all entities. Also, with each tank having its own waypoint, each tends to slow down, stop or continue at slow pace until the speed of the tanks in front return back to normal. Not so with a single waypoint. all the tank will start to detour, side sweep, cramp each other in an attempt to keep moving and would look like a traffic jam. Try it and see what happens.

    This game is all wrong, at 2:30, the bush and trees, roads, sound speakers, etc. should have been added in F2, not F3. You can make tanks follow one behind the other and not going through forests and buildings. In real life wars tanks don't do that. Each tank has to have it's own waypoints lines to make them both stay on the road and tracks. Otherwise the one behind will not follow exactly like the first, it will go off-road. And waypoints set at 200 also cause tanks to veer off the center of the cones. Setting the diameter to 40 should keep tanks close to the cones before turning. Plus, tanks should be spaced 4 tank length behind, otherwise when you click start, the rear tanks tend to sway off side and not follow the ones in front on the same path. For that reason you need to add a waypoint for each tank to force those behind to stay on track with their own waypoints.
