@David Wang Not true at all. AG wanted to continue making movies back then and then come back for 6 months and make records with PS..., that didn't work for PS, understandably so. That is why the split happened. AG had a beautiful voice, but PS gave him the songs to showcase that beautiful voice. Without PS, there never would have been an AG, except in his local church. BUT, I grew up with S&G and will forever be grateful for them both. 💜💜

Bob Weir forgets lyrics. Sometimes he sings great. I think I will miss him when he is gone. Lately I see him about once a year. I don’t criticize. I am thankful he is there for us still.

In the eighties and nineties I saw many bands two or three times, like Rush, Pink Floyd, U2, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Sublime, Yes, Genesis, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Guns N Roses, and Van Halen (to name a few :-) I saw the Grateful Dead 26 times (including the concert for Bill Graham at the Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park) that period while Jerry was still with us... But I always marveled at the way Bob would take over a song either with his voice or his incredible rhythm guitar/sometimes lead guitar, while Jerry just sat back and kept the beat!!
Great song.. and to see Paul Simon permorming it live with Bob Weir is just to cool.... Just a couple of grandpa's now in the music industry, still offering many good vibes ...

"The Boxer" is a timeless, iconic masterpiece that was never able to be captured live as it was on record. the harmonies, the build-up and the production of that song and it's "New Yorkness" has never left me not feeling goosebumps. It's on my "Ten Desert Island Discs". this certainly isn't a great version of it, but hey....no one stays young forever.
Robert Hall Weir is only71 and fit as a fiddle, and on this you can actually hear his amazing guitar playing. Chords up the top end, triads and quadrads, amazing rythem patterns. Most be difficult when your playing with a perfectionist like Paul Simon.
I'll tell you what's special to me about this. Not only is Weir on stage with Simon, but my old friend, next door neighbor and the person who got me into playing drums and then eventually introduced to me to the Grateful Dead is right behind both of them playing drums. It's so crazy to see

In a few short years, all the faces of the greatest music to ever be recorded for a group of people who went through hell and back (Vietnam) will be gone forever. The composers and their songs were recorded for posterity to be preserved for all time. The Brits, the Americans, the Dutch, the Canadians, mes amis, gave the world the gift of the most beautiful rock and roll in all its incredible forms...never to pass this way again....ten thousand years from now, if we survive, a person will be assimilating this music into her/his cortex and grooving to the amazing vocals and ancient musical instruments of the greatest generation and smiling knowing full well that the lucky ones were there: we were there.
Would everybody please stop talking about Weir passing on? He's a health freak, musicians tend to live longer lives, si can we just presume he's for a good few years more?

I was at outside lands this year and saw this performance, blew my mind, amazing. And the crowd was incredible too. Will definitely go back again next year

Killed it? Bobby comes in too early on the chorus and drags on the guitar during the verses. The back up band stops and restarts trying to figure out where he is in the freaking song. I love Bobby too but c'mon.....

Bobby is playing his own song and the band doesn't know where he is. Bobby and Mickey have always been on their own musical planet. I'm not hating, I'm just saying that after playing with Jerry for 30 years a little more musicality should have rubbed off.

My Son stephen was a simi driver and was traveling down the New Jersy turn pike when he pulled over to help a gentleman stranded by the side of the road trying with difficulty to change hes tire He parked the Truck and went beck to find , It was Paul Simon and proceeded to help him , When the job was done Paul Simo took his name and number and Years later Paul contacted him on a Christmas vacation to Powder Horn ski resort and droped by Christmas eve with his guitar and on that eve of Christmas Steve called me to wish me a merry Christmas and Mr Paul Simon sandg my favorite song to me over a phone as I worked at a flower shop in LA I will never forget that Christmas It will live forever in my heart

This was the same day as my mom’s funeral. I miss her so much. This song brightened my spirits.
