Tell me about it! Several weeks ago, 3 at most, I started from the first episode in 1960 and am up to here now. I search YT for each year for all episodes available, including the complete 1970 and 1971. It's addictive. Oddly I can clearly remember having watched the episodes from the 1960s when I was just a kid. I'm 72 now and I remember Martha passing. One downside of binge watching is that the long term characters who always irritated me, like Langton and Fairclough, are more so in a binge watch. Conversely Ena comes across better, Minnie is a sweetheart and Tatlock is just, well, Tatlock. I hope I've liked all the episodes I've watched. I've used AuntiCorrie as the base work but thanks go to all posters of old Corrie episodes.
It's so odd how Anne Kirkbride and Maggie Jones morphed into each other as the years went on. They really did look and sound like Mother and daughter....Brilliant casting.
They could have played brothers at this point! There is a link: in one of his early appearances he's living with his sister, played by Paula Wilcox, who shortly after stars with Beckinsale in the Jack Rosenthal comedy The Lovers.
Only person who was at the wedding still alive now is Rita. Ray-dead. Deirdre-dead. Blanche-dead. Len-dead. Jerry-dead. (and all in dead in reality too.)
That was the look for men in the mid-70s, House of Stuart chic. Dennis Waterman, Richard Beckinsale, Richard O'Sullivan etc.. even Kevin Keegan! They all had that style then.
They just got disinterested and dumped each other, she then went onto a having a fling with Maurice Gordon, then back to where she originally started, dating Ray.
I think the Corrie writers rewrote this quickly as they changed their minds about Deirdre and Billy. They knew more sparks would fly between these two.
I cant make out what someone said just before the second part starts to play. I keep trying to listen to it, but i just can not make it out what they are saying? Can anyone else make out what was is said and then tell me lol, it sounds like blanche talking x
It was quintessential 70s. My cousin got married in 1977 and her husband had hair just like this. My mum never let me have long hair as a kid and I was jealous of all these men with flowing tresses. 😆
So was I. Remember the men's hairdos back then. We had a barber/hairdresser called David Charles in our town who looked like Jesus in hippy clothes. He was extremely gentle and having a shampoo by him was amazing. But his salon had all these pictures of men looking like spaniels. 😂😂😂 And the salon was brown of course with orange sinks. 😳🥰
A bit shallow, aren't you? If I made a comment like that about the women, you'd be calling me a misogynist and telling me that it's what's underneath that counts. Only one way, it would seem...
These episodes are so addictive. How am I supposed to get any work done?
Pmsl im the same spent hours watching them
Yes, you're right! I have now started to watch them in date sequence.

Jerry would have made a very good wife 😂
😂
Blanche was pretty when she was young. She looks like Emma Thompson
I agree. She was a fine looking woman
Peter Adamson Was a class actor sadly missed
Had a lot of personal demons but agreed, v.good actor.
Burnley fan.
I saw him that year and got his autograph. I've still got it for some reason.
He was a fuckin nonce FFS

Ray Langton had the look of the late Richard Beckinsale. I think it was the hair

I didn't realize Neville Buswell had passed away as well ...
@@booth2710 yes. Not that long ago. End of 2020 I think 🤔.
@@lyn4108 - He played Ray Langton.
Ugh :(
@@annoldham3018 he died december 2019 aged 75
Rays hair looks like the prototype for Darth Vader! Or a haircut for a cocker spaniel

Getting married in a coat! The guests look better than she does!! 🤣😂
Diedre could have done way better that Langton (even if the actor has done an amazing job as Ray)
I thought the opposite
Years later they got Ray Langton back, he sadly had heart attack in the rover's pub🥲🙏
The nurse with Stan Ogden went on to appear in Eastenders as Patrick Trueman’s ex wife. I remember the face, though she was much younger here.
Mona Hammond. She was in an earlier episode in the hospital after the coach crash.
@@darganxThe actress is Connie Skinner-Carter. Not Mona Hammond!
@@mljm_mljm My bad, cheers
Wow. Look at Deidre and Blanche. So young. :)
What happened between Billy and Deirdre?
They just got disinterested and dumped each other, she then went onto a having a fling with Maurice Gordon, then back to where she originally started, dating Ray.
It was because Billy used the money he had saved for the wedding to get Bet home from Spain as she missed the flight! Deidre went berserk with him!
I think the Corrie writers rewrote this quickly as they changed their minds about Deirdre and Billy. They knew more sparks would fly between these two.
Kenneth Farrington left over a contract/money issue, otherwise, she would have married Billy instead. It did work better with Ray, though.
To think there was no Tracy Barlow yet and Steve McDonald had just celebrated his first birthday!
I just realized I have never in my life seen Blanche young 🤯 Unrecognizable if it weren’t for her great voice haha 3:00 there she is!!! Ta Auntie!
Wood you be able to do the year of 75 and 76 and 73
Anyone from Salford area? Not sure if the "register office" is in the buildings in Buile Hill Park ?
Stan complaining about the waiting around in hospitals 🤣 Fast forward nigh on 50 years old Stan, it's 1000x worse.
Some hasn’t taken care of that vtr clock sign at the beginning.
Same registry office used for Mavis and Derek's wedding I think. 🤔
And Alf and Reenie
I feel so sorry for married folk - must be grim
Yep it can be 😂
Pretty sure she's expecting tracey here .
No, she wasn't. Hilda was being spiteful.
Tracey wasn't born till 1977
Ray and Deidre would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.

It's the direction crew. It's not the actors. The direction crew are just messing around I think. 'Oh Tommy cut that speed', is what is said.
Ray needed a haircut!!!
Ray's hair looks like a bad wig in this one!
what does that hair look like if that's not enough to put you off nothing will 💇💇💇
Sure Blackadder had hair like that on one series!
that was a most ridiculous hair style - even for those days !
It was quintessential 70s. My cousin got married in 1977 and her husband had hair just like this. My mum never let me have long hair as a kid and I was jealous of all these men with flowing tresses. 😆
He generally had lovely hair .
We still called her Deirdre Langton right up u til her last episode
10.00….did they ever talk about it? 😢
This is before bathrooms . It was hard then .
And to think she ends up with Ken.😊
Six years later she married Ken Barlow.
The women most of them so attractive. But the men! out of shape, scruffy really bad hair thank god i was a child in the 70s.
In the 70s, I had the hots for Ray Langton and Billy Walker.
So was I. Remember the men's hairdos back then. We had a barber/hairdresser called David Charles in our town who looked like Jesus in hippy clothes. @MaryAnn.
You got a point there, with the exception of Ken Barlow in my opinion.

I love you coronation street fan micheál
Len drinking Champaign out of the tray🙂
That Ray is such a jerk. None of these guys is much of a catch. You can just see a short marriage.
Is Langton wearing a lampshade on his head? No wait... that's his hair!
😂
Haha 😛
Rita and Blanche looks better than dedrie 👀
Is she going to smoke that 🚬
Rays hair 😂
Cute ain’t it.
Cute ain’t it
Hmmm. I give it three years and two and a half months.

Joseph and today TV 😀
Blanche was a beauty! When did she become such a nasty shrew
Ray and his terrible haircut.
He makes BlackAdder look cool, hair-wise… 😂.
Rays wearing a wig…….. how awful……
